Thanks. I know someone on here mentioned it before, but I couldnt remember the name....
-
Ok. I wasnt really sure what your point was. Just seems we have this arguement at the end of every year when someone inconveniently dies in that 3 week period......
-
THANK YOU for that info! It's too bad the cuts cant be completely restored to see what he really had in mind for the movie..........I will have to get the DVD to see the other 2 cases.......
-
Well, it just makes sense to me (and some others) if you are going to do a yearly memorial, why not wait till the year is over (when it's only a few more weeks) rather than trying to race to fit in someone who's died after they've started running it. It happens every year.
-
I too, dont know why they dont wait till the end of the year to do it, because it's a long wait till the next year to include them! Just seems more logical to me. They DID include Jennifer Jones in last year's tribute. I think they added her in after the fact, but she was in there........
No, there was no TCM remembers for Francis and I'm sure there wont be an evening of movies either. I'm sure they dont consider her a big enough star. Too bad. They didnt even give Teresa Wright a movie tribute (and she was an Oscar winner!), though I think they did give her a clip memorial......

Wish I was home to watch them. He was SO cute. And a good actor........
-
I recorded it to watch another time. I recorded the first 2 films and watched the last. WHAT A STINKER THAT WAS! (Friends and Lovers?) Poor Olivier! I never made it to the end........
-
Yes, I'm sure she'll be in next year's TCM Remembers......
-
I dont think any news shows mentioned it. It was on news websites.....Sad.
-
I wasnt talking about those brief interview clips they show. I meant a Private Screenings interview. I've been told those snippets werent even done by TCM. Some Cinema project did them.....
-
I think it happened with a lot of old school directors, Ford, Hawks, Minnelli etc. all had critical duds in the 60s......and were left behind when the Young Turks took over........
-
I'm not a fan of One, Two, Three either. Cagney is great, but the material isnt...........
-
Could you tell us where the deleted scenes come from in Sherlock Holmes? I've always wondered about that. Was there another plot/story in the movie or did it come from the main plot? The movie seems pretty whole w/out them, so I've wondered what got cut......
-
I agree, after The Apartment, Wilder started to go downhill. There were a few bright spots after, but mostly duds or disapointments.....
-
No, it was Paramount that remade Tragedy as A Place in the Sun, as well as the original 30s version........
-
GOOD QUESTION! RO mentions American Tragedy a lot but we never see it. I've read the movie got mixed reviews but Sylvia Sidney is great in it........(in the Shelley Winters role......)

Was glad to catch Crime and Punishment, but I was disappointed in it overall (except for Lorre) I read the novel eons ago. It just didnt seem to capture the spirit of the novel to me. Wasnt the pawnbroker a man in the novel? (I cant remember) The film seemed to be set in a limbo time and place. They were dressed in fairly modern garb, but the novel was set in the 1800s. Wasnt really clear WHERE they were either.........
-
No, I think it was Theda Bara who said that. But I dont think he was referring to that anyway. Just a play on the movie title....... (Right, Finance?
) -
Joan Crawford had that same unattractive bob in her late 40s/early 50s films. They must've all gone to the same wig maker..........
-
So that was the reason for the jewel in her navel? Too funny! I always wondered about that....No nudity or cursing, but it wound up Condemned by the Legion of Decency. I remember all the hubbub. UA released it under a subsidiary.........I think Kim's role was intended for Marilyn had she lived. I think Kim has some nice moments in it......
-
STUPID isnt that bad! I agree Lylah Clare is much worse. LOL. I think if Peter Sellers had starred in Stupid (as originally planned) it would've turned out better.......
Needless to say I've seen Lylah Clare several times (what can I say? I love bad movies!)

LOL. True. Novak would appear in worse movies as the decade wore on. I dont think the movie is that bad, but not that good either.
-
Now that I could see happening!
-
LOL. Walt would've had to be pretty long in the tooth by MM's heyday.

What's with all these HOT SPELL posts???? Posting in the Message Boards isnt going to get it shown. Request the movie..........It's a Paramount film. So right there it's a problem.......
