A 64 year old hosting a pajama party?
-
Why not just have her co-host a night of her favorite films? This pajama party nonsense cheapens the channel imo. Do they think she is going to attract young people in the late night hours?
-
LOL. A valid as some of the other themes.......

I agree the book was written out of revenge. But since I do believe her story, I cant say I blame her. The will was just the last straw. If I remember correctly, they had an on again off again relationship as adults. Joan was the only parent she ever had. From what I've read, it's not unusual for an adult child to have some sort of relationship with an abusive parent.......

I agree she should've been a SOTM by now. Most of her films were at RKO (and later at MGM) so there wouldn't be a problem showing them......
-
Am looking forward to this book. I LOVE Ann Harding, but I dont know much about her. Thanks for the heads up. He did a great job on the Kay Francis book that came out a few years ago......

So do I! I was so looking forward to seeing this movie (her last quality production leading role) I hadnt seen it since its network showing back in the 60s (when I was too young to really understand it...) TCM finally gets to show it and it's NOT CINEMASCOPE! Fox doesnt own a Scope print? I'm really getting tired of this happening on TCM.......I'm glad now I chose to record it rather than watch "live" I was truly disgusted when it switched from widescreen after the credits......

She belongs on the graveyard shift! (Cher) TCM is quickly losing credibility with these pandering moves........
-
I WAS SO TICKED! I hadnt seen Tender Is The Night since it's network showing back in the 60s (and I was too young to understand it back then). It finally winds up on TCM and it's a full screen print! Couldnt Fox bother to send a Cinemascope print? Glad I decided to record it rather than watch. This has been happening much too often on TCM......
-
Yeah, if Howard Hughes hadnt bought RKO and ruined it, it would probably still be making films today....
-
I was very disappointed in Miss Blandish. I found it very hard to follow and over the top in the plotting. Didnt buy the Stockholm syndrome idea either as there were very few scenes between the two to make it believeable.......
-
Agree about Liv. And she didnt even get a nomination. Ingrid got one. I thought Liv had the more difficult role in that film......
-
Yeah, they ran Love Me Or Leave Me in the early hours some time back as well. How about PRIME TIME TCM??? I never get tired of seeing that movie......
-
The Globe has poor Doris dying again. Do they EVER let up on her? They even used quotes from the recent interview to back up their claim. Her website has already sent out e-mails saying not to believe them.....
-
I assume since Arthur Penn directed it on stage as well as the movie, he had a big hand in Bancroft and Duke getting to repeat their roles in the film........
-
It still bugs me that TCM didnt do a tribute to her when she died.......
I never realized she had done the Miracle Worker. She was probably considered too old (and not a box office draw) when they did the movie.......
I remember her on the last Oscar tribute (past nominees) about 10 yrs ago. She still looked good. Last time I saw her or Jennifer Jones sadly (who also looked great).

I remember seeing Joan once with Johnny. Unsure if it was the same one you saw. She brought her make up case out with her and was showing it all to Johnny. I was pretty bored with her, but too young to notice if she was tanked or not.........
-
LOL. It's been years since I've seen the film. I think the older Christina (who was pretty boring) wore a wig. The movie suffered (among other things ) from not really having a point of view (the book was Christina's story, but the movie tried to have it both ways) or any narration to try to fill the big gaps in the story......
-
Doesnt surprise me to hear that. The movie seemed to have a lot of "fingers in the pie" as to what made it on screen.......
-
NO KIDDING! LOL. Lana was MUCH older.......
-
LOL. Maybe he'd passed on by then.......

I cant remember either. Speaking of that movie, I just cant picture Lana Turner playing Lee Remick's part. She was originally signed for that. I cant remember why she didnt go on to play it........
-
I agree Sellers would've been better. I think it would've come across less tasteless.......

Too funny. I think Jolson's "Hallelujah, I'm A Bum" song/movie ran into trouble over there years before that. Bum having a different meaning over there (LOL).
