  1. Yeah, I kept thinking in the beginning, does he come on to all the females who call in reports? Risky behavior for a cop. What if someone complained? I sure would have (LOL) if he kept coming to my door.........now if he was HOT (maybe not.........) Van isnt hot to me! And being a Guy Lombardo fan would've killed it! Not cool. :D

  2. Yes, that's true. Everything is shown from his point of view. A big flaw in the movie. That does explain her behavior at the trial. No one knew of her pregnancy then, but she apparently did.. The time frame though is murky...........

  3. Yes, that would've been a nice twist! LOL. A Marie Windsor type character in the end........But it would've been the gas chamber.

Too bad you werent employed in Hollywood back then! :D

  4. Yeah, considering the husband didnt play into the story at all except for that scene. I thought they would have had some scenes with him and Keyes, but there was nothing (unless they cut them)......what difference would it have made seeing him?

  5. That's funny. I found Keye's character far too receptive to Heflin (who came across as a weirdo right from the start) and too willing to just throw her life away for him (several times!)

  6. I was afraid I was going to doze off too (not that the movie was boring, but I often doze off after I eat...) so I recorded the movie just in case and sure enough, I dozed off! LOL. So I could back up and see what I missed and not watch it in "real" time...........Thank God for DVRS!

  7. Well, the guy in charge of the restoration categorized Heflin as some sort of "Peeping Tom", but I saw no evidence of this in the movie. I didnt really "get" his comment........STRANGE yes. Did he try to pick up any woman who called in a prowler report? LOL.

  8. What an odd little movie, Did anyone watch? I didnt see any evidence that Helfin was the Peeping Tom. Were we supposed to assume that? The story was strange from start to finish. Hard to believe it got past the censors (the pregnancy part at least........)

  9. Saw it when it came out and loved it, though the movie itself hasnt held up that well over the years. It probably works better as a stage play (though a recent revival w/Marisa Tomei flopped) The plot is full of holes and requires a lot of suspension of disbelief (what hoods would go to all that trouble playacting? No one else seems to live on Audrey's block either.........) The last half hr is still very good. I remember they turned off most of the lights in the theater for the end. Hepburn should've been nominated for Two for the Road that year, but she's very good here too.....

And Kudos to Henry Mancini's score which helps a lot..........

  10. I tried to watch it again, but I was so tired last night, I dozed off during part of it. (not that the film's campiness has waned or anything)

I was laughing during Neal's first scene (throwing the statue out the window) You know this broad has a screw lose from her first line of dialogue.........

I wonder if the book is as funny? I cant bring myself to read it...........
