YES, THE UNCUT UNCENSORED MATA HAIR WAS SHOWN RECENTLY (LAST YEAR) IN BRUSSELS, BEGIUM...IT SEEMS THAT THE US LIBRARY OF CONGRESS DECLARED IT TOO RACEY FOR SHOWING, WHEN IT WAS RE-RELEASED BY MGM IN 1936 AFTER THE PRODUCTION CODE WAS PUT INTO PLACE, THE ORIGINAL UNCUT UNCENSORED VERSION WAS MADE OF COURSE IN 1931-32-----THERE ARE STILL PHOTOS OF THE CUT OUT VERSION, SOME OF WHICH SHOW GARBO IN A MOST REVEALING OUTFIT! I WISH A NEW BOX SET OF PRECODES WOULD COME IT WITH THIS VERSION, AS IT WAS INTENDED TO BE SHOWN, SO THE TCM SAYING GOES!

that is not nice to insinuate that Crawford was not the greatest in any film, i love her and her films, she was a true goddess of the golden age!

let us not forget Garbo, in such films as Romance, Anna Christie, Inspiration, the uncut and uncensored (truly a pre-coder) Mata Hari (not the watered down version on the Signature Collection) and in silent films: Flesh and the Devil, The Temptress, Torrent,The Kiss, it just goes on and on......she was probably the queen of the precoder films!

Queen Christina for the sex trans gender insinuations, Mata Hari, the original uncut version that TCM has not been able to get for us, not the watered down after the code version, the original was pre-code but it was butchered when MGM re-released it in 1936, after the Code was being enforced.

when or when is TCM going to reschedule The Painted Veil and the other films they bumped off the schedule last month for the tribute to a director who passed??? Reschedule these films please and in the proper time frame they were to be shown in. Thank you very much!

I AM NOT SAYING ANYTHING BUT THE FACT (AND IT IS A FACT MY DEAR) THAT BALL WAS QUEEN OF THE B PICTURES, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT HER FILM CAREER WAs mediocre at best, until the little tube called TV came along, I grew up with ILL and still love the show very much, I am not diminishing Lucille on TV, but give me a break, know your history, she was queen of the B's that is to say that 99% of her films are NOT CLASSIC FILMS---only some that she had supporting roles in, i.e. Stage Door (Hepburn is the star) Follow the Fleet (Astaire and Rogers are the stars) Easy to Wed (Esther Williams is the star) I could go on endlessly! Learn some MOVIE history, do not confuse TV with TCM!
A great example of someone who was Classic in both Film and TV is Barbara Stanwyck!

Lucille Ball, come on for goodness sake this clown was Queen of the B pictures!!!! to ever put her in the class of these other stars is a sacrilige! she could NOT do drama to save her life........i personally cannot stand her!
She was a mediocre star at best!!!!!!!!

yes, i agree they are showing some junky stuff lately, some of the newer films do not belong on TCM, give us the classic stars, Garbo, Crawford, Davis, Grant, Hepburn, Bogey, the list is so vast, we want classic films, and please stop showing the garbagy 1921 silent Camille with Nazinova, or whatever her name is, it is a terrible film, even Valentino looks silly in this nonsense, show the great classic version of 1937 thank you very much, and show some early films of these stars too, stop showing the same films, there are so many classic films that these folks made!

i agree, how about some silent people too, Lon Chaney, John Gilbert, etc., and of course do not forget Garbo and Crawford and even perhaps the Barrymore's!

ok, TCM has b umpted the films on for tonight, one of which is The Painted Veil, so, when is TCM rescheduling the films thrown off tonight????????????????//how many unplanned tributes are we going to do, and how many times can TCM keep bumping films that many of us look forward to seeing?????????????????????????????//////

give me a break, come on, changing the schedule is really lousy, TCM should give some thought to the folks who have their DVD-R set to record films they cannot see, because they are working, etc. when are they going to reschedule those films they are castrating????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????///

i agree, this version with liz in it and that awfal june allyson is much more than one can stand in one picture, what a stupid ridiculous film with that other excuse for an actor, lawford, show the one with Kate Hepburn, and then maybe it will be worth something!
