will we ever see the original uncut and uncensored version as it was first shown and for which i might add it was a tremendous hit, then it was re-released five years later in 1936 and it was chopped up to appease the Code....................come on this is 2010, and the version does exist, it was shown last year in Belgium!

this is a german language film, the other version, that Garbo shot after the filming of the English version which is her first talkie, play this version, it is a real gem, really.

how many times must we see this silly outdated film come on, give us a break

karloff was a great versatile actor that is overlooked by the horror b films he mostly made, he was a wonderful gentle actor and i loved all the films that were on today. tcm should show more of his films, he was a gem

tcm, no garbo pics in november......................i know she only made 26 films, but please even one a month would be great for us garbo sufferers...............also, please how many times can we see the letter and casablanca.....................give us susan lenox with gable, inspiration, anna christie, the german version..............and some garbo silents............................she was so special and great, one film a month would be all we would ask, thank you.

some people say this movie is not the best of flicks, but just watching garbo last night in the film, you cannot take your eyes off her it is so intense....wonderful in every way, she makes the leading men act better than i have ever seen them.....thank you tcm

i missed my chance to record it, but is not John Gilbert wonderful tooo....he was soooo handsome- no wonder Garbo was so attracted to him

it was wonderful of TCM to show these wonderful pictures of Miss Gish, i loved La Boheme and TheScarlet Letter particularly,,,,,please show more of these silent gems, and thank you TCM

When are you going to show us the uncut, uncensored Mata Hari with Garbo, if they can see it in Brussels, why can't we, it is an American film, American studio, starring a naturalized American, give your very loyal Garbo fans the one wish they want, to see this precode and uncut, Mata Hari, dedicate it to Novarro and Garbo, two wonderful greats of the Golden Age of Film.

happy birthday hays code, you managed to destroy Garbo's Mata Hari, Susan Lenox, and Two Faced Woman, the code was just hypocrital, what responsible parent would take or allow an underage child (under 17) to even see these films....yes, they are full of sex and inuendos, but look at your TV commercials today for films, etc., they are just so explicit...besides Garbo's movies and her style was sublte sex you either got her meaning or it went over your head....the hays code was out to destroy realistic film making, like Baby Face, people will continue to do those things to get ahead, and Mata Hari was no school teacher, she was a spy who used sex to get secrets, how can you candy coat that? Give us this film UNCUT, PLEASE, TCM, your viewers, believe me, are mature enough to see the entire film!

hedy never acted, give me one example of it........how about that rediculous acting job as Tundeleo or what ever, it is a comedy without being one.

i agree, they show the same movies too sometimes, why did they do Garbo's birthday only during the early hours, especially the swedish doc that is never shown, joan and greta deserve prime time, give me a break

Hedy looked like any normal woman who was pretty, the strangness of Garbo's beauty was that all her features were symetrically the same, her eyes being set in their sockets, rather oddly, and everything on her face went UP, which is the opposite of most faces,,,she is also called The Face, The Face of the Century, etc., the camermen at MGM agreed that she had no bad angles, find one, big time talker!

i agree, i purposely got up at 5:45 am on Friday (GG's birthday) to see if the Mata they were showing might be a surprise to devoted fans, but no, they showed the version after the Code that incidentally is in the Garbo Signature Collection, (??????????)- TCM can get the film, i do not believe that the original was not kept in the MGM archives, who can we get to help us fans see theDivine One, in the film as it was shown in the first place, i do not care about any restrictions, THIS IS AN AMERICAN FILM, and the Europeans control it????????????COME ON!

hi, did you like the documentary, i loved it, as for the songs: one of them is I Get a Kick Out of You, and the others, i will have to listen to them carefully, also, listen to the lyrics of this song, they HAD to change one particular word, i think you will hear what i mean, hope this helps!

miss hedy did very blue pics in europe, one of which is ecstasy...............gg never did those kind of films, her beauty was just classic and pure, there IS NO COMPARISON....incidentally many more people of a younger age know who Garbo is who today, really, even remotely heard of Hedy, only old movie buffs do...........................ok?
