This is a very tough question to answer and ask, but here goes. When I last viewed this film, I was about twelve years old. I am 49 today, so this was nearly forty years ago. Not just that it was forty years ago, but it is quite possible that this film hasn?t run in forty years anywhere. At the time that it ran, it was locally in the Washington, DC area.
The film dated between, 1928 ? 1932. It was a talky. It was about a butler and maid, I think in a household in the US, but it could have been England. The long and short of this, is that these two servants were not just ordinary servants. They were ?monarchy? king and queen of some small nation in Europe. They had abdicated their throne. The time of the incident was 20th century, I supposed between, 1900 ? 1930, a contemporary of the time. At the end of the film, they did something to save their kingdom by signing over millions if not billions of dollars to their nation. This movie at the time that I viewed it, was considered a four star film. It is perhaps a forgotten movie, but one of the great films that I can remember. I had seen it twice. Is there any way anyone can come up with this name? If not, can you point me to some organization who can?
