  1. Hey........I think you guys might get into this site I just found...... a great character actor site! http://www.dougmacaulay.com/kingspud/ks_index_gca.html Hope you enjoy.
  2. So long!! Oh by the way........here's a movie website I think you'll enjoy much more than TCM which you don't deserve. http://www.amctv.com Bye now
  3. Just as a P.S. to my earlier post.......I am having many problems and I AM on AOL........ Tom
  4. There are 100 cable stations out there that play films like "Pulp Fiction". Please TCM ignore this poster!! I'll take the 20's to early 50's "riff raff" ANY day over most films since 1960........I find a bad Andy Hardy film to be more entertaining than anything Tom Cruise has ever done. Break loose and go buy some DVD's !
  5. I have been having many problems with the log-in lately as well. .......I type my password and it opens a new blank window...when I go back to the boards I am still not signed in......I repeat this a few times and suddenly at some point I am logged in! Oh well......keep showing great movies with no commercials and I won't complain too much about this inconvenience!
  6. Hey Ford........it was a 9 minute 1943 WB short called "Ozzie Nelson and his Orchestra" Directed by Jean Negulesco.....there is no place to get it except to hope TCM shows it again.......it's a great short! Tom
  7. Thank you Path40A !!!!!!! I also was going to type a reply about this but I wouldn't have said it with as much class as you did! btw.........A Face In The Crowd is in my top 50!
  8. Oh brother Inhonorofpop..........now you are totally cracking me up.........so your whole problem is his "bait & switch" tactic?? So the fact that you were trying to obtain free copies of movies illegally should be overlooked so that we can tar and feather Gagman? Here's the one line you neglected to post: "Let's keep to the main issue here and not find me guilty of trying to obtain copyrighted material at no cost" ! ! ! Here is the bottom line Inhonorofpop: If Gagman had sent you these illegal copies for just a shipping charge........you would have been a happy camper and I'm sure you wouldn't want to be reporting him to TCM and The Harold Lloyd Estate. BUT....because he used the "bait and switched" tactic and tried to make a few bucks off of it he is a criminal and you are squeaky clean...........and he should be reported........how convenient. I am still not condoning the bait and switch if that indeed is happening.......it is not right........but you are starting to appear a tad defensive! Wow........how we all fall short........
  9. Although I read most of the posts on this entire message board, I don't post here that often but I have to step in here and defend Gagman a bit.............. I personally have recorded a ton of stuff off of TCM on DVD...... and I never offer the stuff for any kind of money.......but I also get many requests and most of the time (99%) I do not make any copies of anything for anyone........and if I do...(very rarely.....I can count the total on one hand)...it is because I want to and I don't even charge them shipping..........and also the few times I have done this it is something that has NEVER been available commercially........ My job happens to be in the music business and I understand many aspects of copyright law and I respect it............BUT........I have bought many bootlegs off of ebay (sometimes at outrageous prices) because there are many films that will never be shown on TCM, never have been or will be offered commercially, and it is the only way I will ever be able to watch it...........I happen to appreciate the fact that I can obtain some of these treasures via ebay....... Now...some of these dealers are just plain criminal......they say the movies are great copies and charge a fortune and you get the video and it's fuzzier than a Bear...........others are offering very modest prices and are doing it more as a service out of their love for movies....... My whole point here is I have seen all of Gagman's post and they have not offended me........ It appears to me that Inhonorofpop was upset that he was going to have to pay for something that he was trying to get for free....... If it is dishonest for Gagman to offer movies for some profit because he is breaking copyright laws.........it is just as dishonest for Inhonorofpop to be emailing Gagman to get his free copies! And one more thing......all of Inhonorofpop's threats.......let's contact TCM......let's contact the Harold Lloyd estate................are ridiculous........what's next.......let's contact the FBI? Let's have a McCarthy hearing? If you don't like or are offended by Gagman's offers, move on to the next message.......that's what I do! Tom
  10. Hello Vondak.........the movie in question is called "Madame X"......there are quite a few versions..........1929's starring Ruth Chatterton and Lewis Stone..............1937's starring Gladys George and Warren William........1966's starring Lana Turner and John Forsythe..........there are other versions but I venture to say it was one of these 3 that you saw! Tom
  11. Hello.........it may be an MGM film from1942......"I Married An Angel" starring Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy......
  12. You said it Lolite! Happy Anniversary TCM.............thanks for being the greatest movie channel in the history of television! You are a national treasure.........please continue doing what you do so well.......here's to another 10 years!!!!! Tom
  13. Hey David..........the name of the short was "Shoe Shine Boy"....from 1943.....the musician's name was Melvin Bryant and it was the only appearance he ever made in film......it was a pretty good little flick.... Tom
  14. Well........I'm 40 but I feel older!!......I've always been into the movies and music of the 1920's to 40's....... there is just something about that time period........maybe we have things too easy these days.......maybe it was the depression followed by WW2.....I don't know, I wasn't there but I'll take Louis Armstrong blowing his horn in the late 20's over almost anything I hear today.......and I'll take an old B-movie over almost any new movie every time......... The day I realized I may have been born in the wrong generation was the day I discovered the original lineup of the mid 1930's to 1944 singing group "The Ink Spots".......an incredible vocal group........well I was all excited and asked my 70 year old parents what they thought of the Ink Spots and their reply was......."Oh honey.......they were before our time".......yikes.. Tom
  15. Last night I watched Billy Wilder's wonderful movie "The Major And The Minor" at 8pm (EST)............Was it just my cable system or did anyone else experience a few problems with the broadcast? 3 or 4 times the picture would freeze for a while and the audio would continue playing. Just wondering..... Tom EDIT: We are sorry to inform that there was a technical difficulty during "The Major and The Minor". We're also sorry for any interruption it may have caused you while viewing the film. We want to stress that there was nothing wrong with the actual film print. While a majority of the time our broadcasts are shown in perfect condition, we hope you understand that sometimes errors happen. Thanks for the inquiry! 16. 1940's "The Primrose Path" starring Ginger Rogers & Joel McCrea......it was better than I could have imagined and Queenie Vassar played a great part as a Grandma you'd just love to slap around.........
  17. I watched Johnny Guitar for the first time last night.........I don't get it......in my opinion it was beyond awful.......... I love Joan..........I like Sterling.........but it may have been collectively the worst acting I have ever seen in one film........ judging from the reactions I read on www.imdb.com regarding this movie..........I've got it all wrong......can someone please help me out on this?
  18. Oh Boy.......I've pondered......spent all morning thinking about this.......... I can't do it.......it's like choosing between oxygen and water.........my need for both is equal.......
  19. I watched "The Corn Is Green" This afternoon......man I love that movie.....and boy those coal miners could sing! They should have started the "Coal Miner Boys Choir"........they would have made a lot more money touring and could have kept their hands clean.
  20. I totally agree Jmarshall...........I have been burning DVD's off of TCM for 2 years now........I have about 2000 burned because unfortunately, I anticipate a time when these movies are no longer played and I plan on having a lifetime supply of great movies! lol...... I know there are some young people that watch TCM but I would be afraid to see a percentage........I am 40 years old and most of my friends in MY age bracket have little or no interest in the classics. They think I'm a nut. I just NEVER want to see the day when I am forced to watch jerks eat worms on reality TV.......
  21. Hey cinemetal.......that was a short called "Compliments Of The Season" made in 1930 and directed by Arthur Hurley.....Pat O'Brien was in it but was uncredited.
  22. Glenn Ford........I love his movies and his taste in women....that Eleanor Powell was a fox!
  23. Wow......I happen to prefer black and white......when I wake up in the morning......everything throughout my day is in color......when I escape with a movie.....I want it in black and white........even with more modern films.....nothing like a great Woody Allen b&w flick! Charming.
  24. After reading your post jwbklyn........the first thing that comes to my mind is what the politically correct tell me everytime I see something that bothers me on TV....."NO CENSORSHIP....NO CENSORSHIP.....if you don't like it......TURN the channel......wow.....it felt kinda good to say that. !!.............. That was then and this is now....... My 6 year old daughter asked me a bunch of questions about blackface the other night.....my response was that some of it was paying homage to the incredible talent of african americans.......some of it was flat out racism..........she had the most incredible response........she said......"it doesn't make me not like the black people.......it makes the white people look dumb" Bingo.......but to censor it would be wrong.
