Well, it hasn't played on TCM probably because its a Universal picture, which TCM doesn't have rights to. Why its unavailable, my guess would be that Universal didn't think it would sell, but you'd have to ask them. Obtaining it, not a clue.

> When are you going to show Strange Interlude Again?
The Clark Gable, Norma Shearer movie will be shown on October 9 at 12:30 PM.
-
No, Dangerous Female is not available on VHS.
As for Warner Brothers plans, someone else may know better but I don't think there are any plans to release them.
-
Well it could be that they can't get permission to air them. They are both Universal films.
Also, if Man's Favorite Sport is showing on AMC, then its possible, although I don't know for sure, that they can block its being shown on TCM because of prior broadcast rights.
Also, both are available in VHS and DVD.
My other suggestion, maybe once a month, resubmit them through Suggest a Movie. You might get lucky

Should be put out by Columbia Pictures, not my.

The Blondie series was put out my Columbia Pictures.
As for TV rights, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say probably AMC, if there is any broadcast rights. If that is the case, you can probably forget it, as they would have no desire to show them. Wouldn't bring in the right kind of viewers.
I've never seen any of them so I can't commit on what they are like.
The following titles were released on VHS.
Blondie
Beware of Blondie
Blondie Brings up Baby
Blondie for Victory
Blondie Goes Latin
Blondie Goes to College
Blondie Has Servant Trouble
Blondie in Society
Blondie in the Dough
Blondie Knows Best
Blondie Meets the Boss
Blondie on a Budget
Blondie Plays Cupid
Blondie Takes a Vacation
Blondie's Anniversary
Blondie's Big Deal
Blondie's Blessed Event
Blondie's Hero
Blondie's Holiday
Blondie's Lucky Day
Blondie's Reward
Blondie's Secret
Blondie Hits the Jackpot
Footlight Glamour
It's a Great Life
Leave It to Blondie
Life with Blondie
Most appear to be out of print. Only Blondie was released on DVD it has has gone out of print

It was never released on VHS or DVD.
Columbia is the studio that it came out from in 1960. Since it isn't owned by Turner, chances are so-so for it being shown.

My take on these questions.
#1. Short of leasing movies, there probably isn't much that they can do.
#2. I'm not one hundred percent positive, but it might be Viacom, who also own Paramount.
Again, I'm not positive on this.

I don't know what makes a film an "Epic", but I do agree with you that it used a lot today, and in the past. i've seen it used with films that how they would be epics it boggles the mind.
I don't think epics have to be historical, though many seem to be, at least in the old days when historical films were more prevalent.
-
No, its not available on VHS or DVD.
-
When I said 'never' it was in relation to a commercial release. I figured it probably had played on the old AMC.
As for the TV rights to the older movies, I really don't think AMC will want to renew when the contracts expire. After all, they consider their experiment a success, ratings are up and they feel that the *kids* could care less about these. I read that somewhere, magazine I think. IMO. So, like you said, perhaps TCM will acquire the TV rights.

The movie has never been released on either VHS or DVD. Since it is a Universal title there is very little chance of it playing on TCM.

Yes, I have seen the film. It is a 1966 MGM film owned by Turner. It is not available on VHS or DVD but you can suggest that it be played by clicking on suggest a movie and use 'seven women' and not the numeral as that is how its listed in the TCM library.

Black Knight with Alan Ladd and Patricia Medina is owned by Columbia Pictures. It has never been officially released on either video or DVD.
It is a good movie, actually the one that made me try and find Ladd movies

Man, I got three decades to go before I hit 55.

I does not appear to have ever been released on video or dvd.

> I'm looking for a movie called, I think, St. Louis

> something similar?
There's three things titled St. Louis Blues.
One is a 16 minutes short from RKO in 1929 with Bessie Smith. Its available in the collection Hollywood Rhythm Vol. 01 - The Best of Jazz & Blues on DVD.
The second listing is from 1939 Paramount Pictures staring Jerome Cowan. It is not available for purchase. Universal currently owns it.
The third on was made in 1958 by Paramount Pictures and stars Nat 'King' Cole. It is not available for purchase and Paramount apparently retains the rights.

The film was made in 1941 by Paramount Pictures, which means it is owned by Universal by way of Universal buying up Paramount's pre 1949 films. I don't know if its ever been on TCM, they would have to lease it.
It might have been on American Movie Classics in the old days before they went to new movies with commercials. The only other stations that MIGHT touch it is one of the Encore specialty stations.
-
In regards to The Last Hurrah, if its the 1958 version your talking about, its from Columbia Pictures. State of the Union, it appears to be owned by Universal. At least, that's who released the video.

I, too was saddend by FMC's move. Now they say that they will schedule Charlie Chan Films based on feedback of its subscribers.
Taken from the bottom paragraph on their pop-up ad.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark, it might be The Shop Around the Corner form 1940 MGM with Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan. If this is the movie, it is available on VHS or DVD. It is also slated to appear on TCM July 27 at 6PM and Aug. 1 at 2PM.
Hope this is it, otherwise I don't have a clue.

Well, Bells are ringing was recorded in Mono sound. The other two I don't know about, but some prints of That's Enertainment were recorded in mono, others were recorded in stereo. Mad, mad, mad World I have no clue, but one possiblity is that Mono is the best surviving print, even though it was recorded in stereo.
Info from Internet movie db.
Or it could be TCM doesn't broadcast in stereo, I for one don't really care one way or the other.

The Doorway to Hell, The Crows Roars and Lady Killer are not scheduled to air through September. The Public Enemy is on Aug. 7 at 10:00 PM.
To find out if they are to be on later, say when October's schedule comes out in about thirty some days, just go to advanced search up at the upper right part of the screen and click. On the schedule part, type in the actor, and the list of films that are scheduled are listed.

To Kill a Mockingbird is owned by Universal studios.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I even sent an e-mail about it, for all the good it would do. What I think is stupid is they pick and choose what celebrities they pay tribute to.
