High and the Mighty has never been on TCM.
Rocky Mountain, I don't know.
-
The Ma and Pa Kettle Series is owned by Universal. Since Universal is owned by NBC now, and NBC has at least part ownership of AMC, I really look for Universal owned films to start declining on TCM.
There are two different Charlie Chan groups. The films made by 20th Century Fox, which is almost a sure thing they will not lease them. Then there's the Monogram group. Who holds their rights, I don't know.
-
Possible, though not likely. The film is a Columbia release.
-
Great Expectations is a UK title whose American distribution was picked up by Universal.
Brief Encounter is also a UK title with Paramount, it appears, as the U.S. rights distributor.
Both are available from Criterion DVD for the ridiculous price of $39.95 for no feature discs.
TCM plays a foreign movie on Friday nights, usually about 2 A.M. eastern (officially, its Saturday morning)and occasionally Silent Sunday is a foreign title.
The two movies are both available used on VHS.

Final Countdown released in 1980 with Kirk Douglas, MArtin Sheen and Katherine Ross. Coming to DVD on March 23.

Here's a break down of movies that are lost, and what studio they came from. Weather this is a complete and true accounting I don't know.

The site I complied these numbers from does not go beyond 1935, but I would imagine the numbers stay low.
I always thought that the 50% included the silents. Maybe it doesn't

The March listings as far as date are concerned are accurate, the 2nd hasn't been scheduled yet. On the text version, the dates are correct, only the days of the week are off.
-
Well, the two movies you were wondering abut break down as such:
She's Working Her Way Through College, not owned by Turner
Take Me Out to the Ball Game is on Mar 27 04:00 am
-
Yep, though its been awhile.
-
That should be two episode's between 7-9 A.M. and another two episodes between 7-9 P.M.
-
I assume your talking about on Movieplex. There's two episode's on between 7-9 A.M. and 7-9 P.M..
Personally, I think that's too many.
-
Sounds like the 1951 version of Bird of Paradise. Released by 20th Century Fox starring Debra Paget, Loius Jordan and Jeff Chandler. Never released in video or DVD.
-
I'm not an expert, but I don't think they're available to purchase. The only Artie Shaw musical short that comes up as available is Class in Swing (1939) part of a Hollywood Rhythm The Paramount Musical Shorts vol.2 on DVD.
-
I sent an e-mail to TCM. If they do anything, I have no clue.
-
Hollywood Party can still be ordered new at Amazon for $19.99.
-
I'm not the biggest expert, but it doesn't look like this has a date planned, or is planned at all. Maybe someone can come along with a more definitive answer.
-
They show post 1950 Warner's like Giant by getting permission, and probably paying a leasing fee, to the rights holder, which is Warner Bros.
As to why they don't air it, maybe they can't get permission. As to not finding a copy to air, I would doubt that as the video was released on Warner Home Video, so I would assume that Warner's still has at least a copy. Quality has never been a true issue. A couple of films that are shown occasionally have blemishes on them.
-
Well, for your suggestion, assuming TCM owns it, the earliest it would be shown would be April, since the schedule's through March are out.
How anyone knows if they are, when the schedule's come out.
-
Yep, it's off again. Sure is acting goofy tonight.
-
Yeah, it came on not five minutes after posting.
I would also like introductions foa all the movies during the day. (Wishful thinking.)
-
I'm not on either. I think its the station, who knows.
-
1. Nope, Turner does not own the United Artist library. The rights to the UA titles are still with MGM.
2. I don't have a clue. But the essentials are what Sydney Pollack believes are essentials. At least, I think that's the way its done.
-
Per Lifeboat, You can always try and rent it. Or check it out of a library. It was commercially released and is still available at $12.98.
Its not schedueled to be shown on Fox Movie Channel.
-
Lifeboat directed by Hitchcock is a 20th Century Fox title.

Marx Bros.

Opera, circus and Races are all listed in the TCM library. Circus will play in April, the other two aren't upcoming. Also listed in the TCM libary are Room Service, Go West, and Big Store.
