http://turnerclassicmovies.com/Schedule/Print/0,,02-2004|0|,00.html Well, February's listings are out. Not one silent the whole month.

I mean, HOW in the world could they omit "White Christmas?" Easy, its a Paramount Title that they don't have broadcast rights too.

Will The Godfather ever be shown on TCM?
movieslover1000 replied to foreignimports89's topic in General Discussions
Who knows. But an important aspect is that Turner doesn't own the rights, Paramount does. -
The sequals are Four Wives (1939) and Four Mothers (1941)

I need a title Movie A month ago...
movieslover1000 replied to eriny0's topic in General Discussions
Three Cheers for the Irish is not available on VHS or DVD. It is not scheduled to be shown between now and January. -
Yes, it does exist. I get one or two a month. Why you don't get one, I haven't a clue.
-
Unfortunately, What a Blonde is not available for purchase on either VHS or DVD.

I believe you might be looking for Three Wise Fools, 1946 MGM. It stars Margaret O'Brien, Lionel Barrymore and Lewis Stone. It is not available on VHS or DVD. It is scheduled to be shown on Jan. 15 at 3:30 pm Eastern.
-
No, its a 20th Century Fox title
-
Just a follow up note. The entire prime time schedule that was cancelled will be shown on Jan. 19 in prime time.

The earliest movie ever made...
movieslover1000 replied to anchoredsoul18's topic in General Discussions
I don't know the short your talking about, but the Internet Movie Database lists back to 1892. -
I personally think this Saturday would have been a better night for a prime time tribute to Kazan, after all, On the Waterfront is already scheduled twice. People who have passed away, no tribute shown, this year. (Off the top of my head.) Robert Stack Buddy Ebsen Hume Cronyn Donald O'Connor Rand Brooks On top of that, I would have thought Bob Hope would have gotten a full day, or at least prime time, but he was given late morning-early afternoon.

It makes a difference beacause TCM doesn't own the rights to the Fox movies. Turner owns the rights to pre-1948 (i think thats the year) Warner brothers, most all RKO and MGM (pre 86, I think). They can sometimes lease movies from other studios. Besides, Fox movies are shown on Fox Movie Channel. That's in no way to say that they show as many movies as TCM, they don't, they are repeated constantly, some so many times it will make your head spin. Ever now an then, FMC will sow a Grable movie.

Does anyone know the title of . . .
movieslover1000 replied to dmabcbaer's topic in Information, Please!
A Song to Remember was made by Columbia Pictures. It was released on video but has since went out of stock. Most used copies at Amazon range from $33.00 to $55.00. There is one for $19.99. Also on eBay for $19.98. At Half.com copies range from $13.49 to $14.99 with one at $65.00. -
I agree with you one hundred percent. I even sent an e-mail about it, for all the good it would do. What I think is stupid is they pick and choose what celebrities they pay tribute to.
-
Well, it hasn't played on TCM probably because its a Universal picture, which TCM doesn't have rights to. Why its unavailable, my guess would be that Universal didn't think it would sell, but you'd have to ask them. Obtaining it, not a clue.
-
> When are you going to show Strange Interlude Again? The Clark Gable, Norma Shearer movie will be shown on October 9 at 12:30 PM.
-
No, Dangerous Female is not available on VHS. As for Warner Brothers plans, someone else may know better but I don't think there are any plans to release them.
-
Well it could be that they can't get permission to air them. They are both Universal films. Also, if Man's Favorite Sport is showing on AMC, then its possible, although I don't know for sure, that they can block its being shown on TCM because of prior broadcast rights. Also, both are available in VHS and DVD. My other suggestion, maybe once a month, resubmit them through Suggest a Movie. You might get lucky

Should be put out by Columbia Pictures, not my.

The Blondie series was put out my Columbia Pictures. As for TV rights, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say probably AMC, if there is any broadcast rights. If that is the case, you can probably forget it, as they would have no desire to show them. Wouldn't bring in the right kind of viewers. I've never seen any of them so I can't commit on what they are like. The following titles were released on VHS. Blondie Beware of Blondie Blondie Brings up Baby Blondie for Victory Blondie Goes Latin Blondie Goes to College Blondie Has Servant Trouble Blondie in Society Blondie in the Dough Blondie Knows Best Blondie Meets the Boss Blondie on a Budget Blondie Plays Cupid Blondie Takes a Vacation Blondie's Anniversary Blondie's Big Deal Blondie's Blessed Event Blondie's Hero Blondie's Holiday Blondie's Lucky Day Blondie's Reward Blondie's Secret Blondie Hits the Jackpot Footlight Glamour It's a Great Life Leave It to Blondie Life with Blondie Most appear to be out of print. Only Blondie was released on DVD it has has gone out of print

It was never released on VHS or DVD. Columbia is the studio that it came out from in 1960. Since it isn't owned by Turner, chances are so-so for it being shown.

New films for Library and another question
movieslover1000 replied to thaellar's topic in General Discussions
My take on these questions. #1. Short of leasing movies, there probably isn't much that they can do. #2. I'm not one hundred percent positive, but it might be Viacom, who also own Paramount. Again, I'm not positive on this. -
I don't know what makes a film an "Epic", but I do agree with you that it used a lot today, and in the past. i've seen it used with films that how they would be epics it boggles the mind. I don't think epics have to be historical, though many seem to be, at least in the old days when historical films were more prevalent.

No, its not available on VHS or DVD.
