  1. Rear Window is on the schedule. But searching the library, it doesn't come up so I would assume that they are leased.

There are actually only 5 Hitchcock titles listed in the library

    Bon Voyage / 1944

Mr. And Mrs. Smith / 1941

    North by Northwest / 1959

    Suspicion / 1941

    The 39 Steps / 1935

However, here are a couple of RKO Hitchcock's that aren't in the TCM Library.

    Suspicion / 1941

    Notorious/ 1946

I believe I read somewhere that ABC owns these two. I could be wrong.

  2. For South Pacific, it seems to be a case of simply leasing the movie.

The only Deanna Durbin that shows up in the library is It's Only a Date, (which is to be shown). Most Universal's are leased, same as Paramount and Columbia. TCM only buys the braodcast rights, not the movie itself. Some are for a special event, like Boris Karloff as October's Star of the Month. TCM owns a number of his films, others were leased from Universal, apparently for one time showing. Others are for general broadcast rights. Post sale Warners, I honestly don't have a clue. After all, Warner Brothers owns TCM.

Also, TCM does not quite own all RKO, but most. Two that they don't off the top of my head are Bird of Paradise (1932 RKO,) owned by Fox, I believe. It was on Fox Movie Channel. Another they don't own is Jet Pilot (1957 RKO). This film was set for release, but RKO shut down production. After that, this film and the twenty or so other films awaiting release were released by other studios. Jet Pilot is one that the rights went to Universal.

Sorry if i rambled, but its 5 am and I've been up since 3 am

  3. The only part of those still up is November 14th through the 30th. I had all three months on my hardrive till I deleted them about three days ago. However, I happen to have hard copies of most days for those three months. If you want, I'll type them out and e-mail them to you. Let me know.

What's left of November can be found here.

  4. Sounds like Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969) with Maggie Smith. If this is the one, Its available on VHS. It won't play on TCM because its a 20th Century Fox title.

It is currently playing on Fox Movie Channel December 08 at 10:01 pm, December 28 at 6:01 pm, December 29 at 8:01 am. All airings are in letterbox.

Hope this is the right one.

  5. They really can't show those movies beacuse they don't won the broadcast rights to them. Tooper, I have no clue about. Sergeants 3 and Johnny Concho were made by United Artist, the films are owned by present day MGM, which has none of its old movies, they are owned by Turner. Jeanne Eagles is owned by Columbia. Room For One More is owned by Warner Bros. from the time after they sold their old movies to MGM, which then ended up with Turner. Last Outpost and Eagle and The Hawk were made by Paramount, then sold to Universal in the mid 50's. Bedtime Story is a Universal Picture

  6. How I do it is by keeping the link and toward the end of each month, changing the number of the month. For instance, toward the end of December, I'll replace the /0,,02-2004|0|,00.html of Feb. to /0,,03-2004|0|,00.html for March, and so on.

  7. I personally think this Saturday would have been a better night for a prime time tribute to Kazan, after all, On the Waterfront is already scheduled twice.

People who have passed away, no tribute shown, this year. (Off the top of my head.)

    Robert Stack

    Buddy Ebsen

    Hume Cronyn

    Donald O'Connor

    Rand Brooks

On top of that, I would have thought Bob Hope would have gotten a full day, or at least prime time, but he was given late morning-early afternoon.

  8. It makes a difference beacause TCM doesn't own the rights to the Fox movies. Turner owns the rights to pre-1948 (i think thats the year) Warner brothers, most all RKO and MGM (pre 86, I think). They can sometimes lease movies from other studios.

Besides, Fox movies are shown on Fox Movie Channel. That's in no way to say that they show as many movies as TCM, they don't, they are repeated constantly, some so many times it will make your head spin. Ever now an then, FMC will sow a Grable movie.
