I think it was their first kiss. I watched the scene quite closely and although it does not last long, it appears to be an open mouth kiss, and before it ends, Garfield sort of dips his head towards her.
Ahem.

"This caused a stir amongst 1940s audiences who were shocked when it seemed clear to them that John Garfield uses his tongue in one of his kissing scenes with Lana Turner."
Lucky Lana! I was in lust with John Garfield after watching this as an impressionable teen.

Ooh, good thread - I've been on a Glenn Ford kick of late!
My very favourite has to be HUMAN DESIRE. He + Gloria Graham = sparks flying through my TV screen.
Followed closely by 3:10 TO YUMA (I can't say I'm looking forward to this year's Russell Crowe remake), The Big Heat, TEXAS (with William Holden), CONVICTED, AFFAIR IN TRINIDAD and THE TEAHOUSE OF AUGUST MOON.
I also like the minor noir FRAMED - inspite of the wholly improbably slick and very wooden Janis Carter, it's good fun for the scene where a truck with failed brakes careens down a mountain, through town, and causes only minor damage to a bumper bar.

Frame by frame viewing - what fun! I'll make a note to watch the scene ASAP in that manner. I love me some John Garfield.
I'm not a sir. Then again, I am no lady. Femme de la femme is more my line.
