  1. I have to explain. When I was typing in an earlier comment I said "he" when I meant "she" . Only caught that typo after I entered the comment. In the minute or so it took me to change the entry, finance (who was lurking overhead like the eagle looking for prey) swooped down and called me on it. Watch out people, Big Brother is out there. :D

  2. I've never been quite clear on this, but I have the impression that Humphrey Bogart (who I know could be quite difficult to get along with) and William Holden never got along, dating back to when Holden was a young actor. So I wonder how they ended up together all of those years later and in a storyline where they had to work together a lot. Both were very big box office in the 50's so either guy could do his own film and do quite well. In those situations you only needed one "big" star and the other guy could be chosen from a big list of supporting actors. Anyone out there who can comment further on this?

  3. The cable channel Movies! had *Sabrina* on tonight. I know its a popular film but the casting seems very bizarre to me. Bogart and a "blonde" William Holden (brothers?) romancing a young Audrey Hepburn. Bogie is 54/55 and she's 24. And Bogie is no Cary Grant. Grant was one of the few "old" guys who could be believable with a much younger woman. And the real funny thing is Bogart couldn't stand either of his costars. It would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall while they were making that film.

  4. I should remember that Mickey is in one of my favorite films, *The Bridges At Toko-Ri* , and he plays a very good part in that one. In 1932 , when Mickey was only about 12, he costarred with Tom Mix in *My Pal, The King* . Mickey was the "king" and his aunt was played by my main gal, Noel Francis. I wonder if he would remember anything about that movie and working with her? I have that movie on DVD and I'm sure that TCM played it recently.

  5. I'm just speculating here but I believe Drew may be a little more knowledgeable then she appears. Its her manner and how she expresses herself (the valley girl thing) that people may question. She certainly is a talented actress so she has credibility there. I wonder just how well some of our talented "classic" actors and actresses of years past would do in a commentary role today. There were probably more than a few "airheads" out there, we just never knew that.

  6. At least Jean had more screen time than Lucy ;) Look at Jean Arthur's resume. She did a ton of movies before *The Whole Town's Talking* . The girl really paid her dues. She was really good in *The Ex Mrs Bradford* with my main man William Powell. I believe she worked almost as well with him as Myrna Loy did.
