  1. thank you all for your advice! i think the retirement home idea is wonderful! i have visited many retirement homes and had actually thought about it a while back, but i completely spaced out on that idea. thank you for reminding me again! my grandmama has literally 100s of these tapes and she has a DVD hard drive now, and doesnt need the tapes, so she will do anything to get rid of them. heehee!
  2. You're supposed to be in dreamland with your snobby Mr. Darcy. Don't tell me they canceled the ball. no they didnt cancel the ball. that would break my heart! heehee! they just cancelled it for you, b/c they knew you would show up in a dress.
  3. april, i love those screencaps are gorgeous! Jane Eyre is definitely in my top 5 favorite books, the movie isnt half bad either. heehee! no i love the movie, but it doesnt live up to the book quite like i wanted it to.nevertheless the acting is superb. you actually posted one of my favorite lines in that movie, and i never could understand why i loved them so much, "she sank her teeth into me like a tigress.she said she'd drain my blood." i guess it was because of the depth in which it was said by him. it was really dramatic and so heavy that it just hung in the air as it rolled off his lips. wow. its time for a new list dahlink. i think we should list our favorite books ranking from best to worst. 1. Pride and Prejudice 2. Anne of Green Gables 3. Jane Eyre 4. Little Women 5. Emma i have many more, and ill probably have to make a second list, im half asleep and my brain has stopped working for the day. heehee!
  4. dont listen to him cinemabuff! you will drown in the cheese fondue he has hidden from all of us. we have all been trying desperately to get frankiefurter to watch Pride and Prejudice, but he wont listen. he is being OBSTINATE. heehee! I read that you mentioned "Love Story", isn't the plot the same thing? Don't tell me it's not.Take away the manners, beautiful scenery, clothes and the subtlety and you've got your story. no dont take them away! thats part of the whole experience! you have to have those. they are vital in Pride and Prejudice....althought i would still be in love with the movie even if it didnt have all those wonderful things. i guess that makes me weird huh? heehee!
  5. i have a question to ask all of you loverly people! for those of you who have thousands of VHS tapes and are gradually copying them to your DVDS....what do you do withthe VHS tapes afterwards? do you throw them away? sell them? recycle them? give them away? because my grandmama had way too many, and she is in the process of copying them ALL to DVDs, but has no clue where to put all these VHS tapes after and she wants to be rid of them all. heehee! i have no clue and she told me to ask ya'll.
  6. i am astonished lately since I keep finding out more and more people Katharine Hepburn knew and had relationships with. Quite a fascinating gal. kate was a very likable gal, i think. since she was so independent, that may be the big reason, why so many people could get along with her. i dont think she had that many enemies. she was very blunt, that much i know, but that is part of her personality and i think that is wonderful. she had her own way of doing everything and by golly, she did it her way! indubidably! heehee! i honestly, dont find it hard to see her and greer as friends, b/c greer was everyone's friend too. she was very well liked with everyone she came in cotact with. they both had astonishing and outstanding personailties but they were each COMPLETE opposites in that area. heehee! 7. Oh, no? What about this: we need someone to drown in the chocolate! slip of the keys? will you believe that? heehee! You only want the gloves so that you don't get chocolate on your princessy hands. well that's part of it, but i love gloves and wouldnt do anything to make them dirty! I don't know where your pretend doll went to school, but I know the Goddess was head of her class at Finishing School. knowing april, she probably went to a respectable school! so there! loverly screen cap, but that wont cut it. you can just make my day! heehee! this is so much fun!
  8. I'd run to the roof with John Doe. well dont forget your dress on the way out! heehee! no really, please dont go! we need someone to drown in the chocolate! Black gloves! All right! Black gloves are a must for a femme fatale. You don't want to leave fingerpints after you kill your man. im not a feeme fatale! i wouldnt kill anyone.....i wouldnt know how. heehee! Why don't you sing me some Celine Dion while you're at it? hey! i like celine! she has a beautiful voice and you like it and you know it! Ohh, that's right, you're not graduating from Finishing School like someone else. let's not put too fine a point on it shall we? sweet april didnt come from finishing school! Is that what you have learned from your trashy Jane Austen books and films? Us guys are to bow down to you and the priss? oh yes didnt you know? heehee! if you are to go with me and april to the ball, you should learn these rules! heehee! You better stay away from me at the ball. I wouldn't want to upstage you. thats not very nice.
  9. I'd rather watch Love Story all day long than watch Pride and Prejudice. (for that girly "sweet-and-sour" craving-fix Is that the same as Snip-n-Priss? some of us actually have a heart too. heehee! unlike some dutchman, me and sweet april can never track down.
  10. A couple of feisty red-heads! do you have a picture of them together? heehee! i know, talk about fiesty....the perfect word! unfortunately i cant find ANY pic of them together. wouldnt that have been a treat if they were in a movie together?!
  11. i watched Donovan's Reef after a while of not watching it, which is a shame, b/c i love that movie so much, and completely forgot about all the sailors in it toward the end of the movie. they are all so cute, but they have a big fight with Duke and Lee Marvin. oy! heehee!
  12. Not a bad idea, right Princess Tea? heehee! of course not! i love playing dress up! love the greer pic dahlink! you could make anything look gorgeous! just like viv could. viv maed those GWTW costumes look ravishing! i dont think any other actress could have looked better in that movie in those dresses! you kinda think of them as her style.
  13. *Twenty lashes with a wet trenchcoat belt....softly. All is forgiven. But don't let it happen again schweetheart!* yes ma'am!!! heehee! i wont let it happen again!
  14. *I think he's on strike from butler work, maybe we can hire him to park the cars. That way he won't even have to come indoors and steal the cake!* okay you present a very good point. banana oil! heehee! i guess that reduces it to preking the cars them. i agree! the cake is all ours now! heehee! hurray! That's exactly the impression I got. The look on his face when she first called him that was priceless. Didn't she do it in front of the judge once and he looked astonished? yes, it is like the characters were made for each other! i remember the judge hearing her say that. i forget what he said, but i think he just looked at "reuben" and chuckled. but i may be wrong. i NEED to see it again. It would have been something to see indeed! I like what Kate said about him in her autobiography, and I think she talks about it in the documentary about her life---about how tiny his feet were for such a big man. Ha haaa! kate's auto bio, was one of the very first i read! i absolutely loved reading it and yes i liked what she saud about the duke. it appears they were good friends. i thought that was cute......i just recently learned that greer was good friends with kate. i never would have guessed they were good friends, but i could see it. i bet they were cute together. My next John Wayne dvds I buy may have to be True Grit and Rooster Cogburn. I also want to get The Lady Takes A Chance, with Jean Arthur. That one is too cute. i looove Lady Takes a Chance! i really need to get that one too. i dont have it recorded, but i have seen it numerous times from one of grandmama's old VHS tapes. i would love to get True Grit and Rooster on DVD. they are some of my favs of the Duke.
  15. I'm still laughing! My dress was nothing to what yours sounds like and I'm so excited for you. How will you wear your hair? Down and wavy or up and elegant? (Feel free to join in this conversation, FrankGrimes, and get in touch with your inner Priss. ) im laughing with you. heehee! i dont know about the hair yet. im still thinking. heehee! ill let ya know, dahlink! frankie DOES have a strong inner priss, doesnt he?
  16. A tux is one thing, but the frilly doily things with the high stockings is another. did i say you had to wear doily things with high stockings? on second thought....april that might be a great way of humiliating the dutchman! heehee! i am getting blakc opera gloves to go with them. i have always wanted opera gloves! heehee! just like greer! The thought of me at some English ball is straight torture. A day of Mozart? I might be able to survive that. Might. Just don't make me watch prissy films. okay mozart wont work.......i call for making him watch Pride and Prejudice! maybe a little mozart, some strauss, a little bach, a bit of mischa with helen mirren here and there. heehee! I'm rolling my eyes. KISS MY GRITS! heehee! that line gets me every time! Black? What are you, a femme fatale? What's wrong with a plunging v-neck? Nothing, that's what the idea of even asking that question! a femme fatale? who do you think i am gloria grahame? heehee! a plunging y-neck is a little too reveling for me. it isnt quite my cuppa tea silly. And does your Jane Austen crown read "Prissy Princess"? okay the crown would be overdoing it a little. heehee! i dont need a tiara until i go to the ball with you. heehee! then you will have to bow to me and watch all my prissy films. heehee! *My strapless dress would be ruby red to match my Coop lipstick.* okay that was so funny! i cant stop laughing. hey i dont think you would look half bad in that actually.
  17. Sweet Tea, your gown sounds absolutely gorgeous and I do hope you PM a picture. I think it is going to be the most glamorous graduation celebration in Texas. well it will be a small graduation, but i hope it is a good one. heehee! i dont think it will be that glamorous though, but thank you. you looked mighty glamorous in that pic i have of you in the black dress if i say so myself......and dont disagree, b/c we will be arguing all night. heehee! I'm STILL laughing at this picture and will be for quite a while, I'm sure! well i had to think of something new. heehee!
  18. You're very welcome, dahlink! And it's a pleasure, I don't mind you can always ask. I was really worn out from being hounded out of Tara by a Yankee dutchman. oh thank you dahlink! heehee! when's our next tea party? we will have to make sure the yankee dutchman cant steal the devil's food cake. if we hire him as our butler again, we will have to come up with something. I know!! I want them to marry and become a sweet old cantankerous couple at the end! They already act married! I love the way Kate calls him "Reuben". and what a cantakerous couple they would have been. you know, my duke could have at least pulled her off the house to kiss her passionately, but no! he just said that he would remember her and she him, and they parted! how wrong! heehee! i loved that she called him "Reuben". i bet he wouldnt have allowed ANYONE else to call him that except for her. i loved the scene where she dozes off to sleep and he sneaks in that drink and she somehow knows hes drinking, so while her eyes are closed, she tells him not to drink it....and he gets all mad. its too cute and funny! they do act married all throughout the movie.....i wish they would have been paired in another movie together in their younger years too. that would have been awesome and im surely i would have loved it!
  19. Dedgdvils Fodd Cake?munch munch.... Ooops.(Gulp) Sorry. I ate it! oh yes he loves devil's food cake. dont you remember? he loves pinching them at our tea parties! heehee! he must not get pais enough as our butler, b/c he feels the need to do this quite frequently. heehee! thats okay, i just happen to have a spar cake in the fridge. you just feel then eed to eat the rest of that cake and enjoy yourself! you deserve it, especially from the dutchman furter picking on us so much. goodness! sweet Butterscotch.......glad you're back, in your lovely gown--- tell us all about it well i have gotten very friendly with the owner of this dress boutique, b/c she designedd every dress in it, and we have talked a lot aboutdress designing b/c i make my own dresses too, but i wanted to buy an extravagant one for a change. heehee! i got it for my small graduation that is suppose to be this year, but i graduated last year and we didnt know it until just recently. its a long story... heehee!...i decided to celebrate with the rest of my class that i graduated the 8th grade with, since i didnt go to a real high school, so they invited me to all their real graduations. since i didnt ever get a real one for myself, my parents and both sets of grandparents are taking me to the Driskol Hotel, which is very extravagant and fancy, for dinner and they let me get a formal dress, since i never got to go to prom(i was homeschooled). its very funny, b/c the owner of the boutique gave her opinion on my dress and she commented, "you dont looke like a college student anymore in that dress." she is just the sweetest person really! heehee! ill have to show yall pics of this dress. it is so pretty!
  20. You and your imaginary friend would have me sipping tea at some snobby ball while wearing a silly outfit. hey i think all men look handsome in a tuxedo. i think you should try one on...i bet my imaginary friend would think you are handsome in it too....and a little tea never hurts anyone, it better not by the amount that sweet april and i drink. heehee! That's exactly how I feel about Pride and Prejudice. I don't want to be haunted by such psychotic trash. would you please enlighten me on why exactly would pride and prejudice be haunting you? i could understand norman bates haunting me, by stabbing me in the shower, but what would elizabeth bennett do to you, tie you to a chair and make you listen to mozart all day? gee, that actually sounds like a plan! mozart is so much better for you instead of rap, silly goose. This is what those trashy Austen novels do to girls like you. You're probably going to bowl in your gown and go skiing in your gown and climb rocks in your gown. Sigh. What color is it? heehee! thats funny. i wouldnt ever climb rocks in this gown! i wear my workout clothes to do that silly. i think i would freeze in this gown while skiing too. what do you mean by sighing at me like that? thats my job! heehee! its black by the way. i looooove the style of it, b/c it was soooooo 30s, but they didnt have it in any other color. there was a blue dress that i would rather have gotten, but the front was a v-neck and a little too low. heehee! the sleeves are a sash with silver beads stretching across my shoulders and chest and hanging down in the back. its so pretty, just like something loretta young would have worn in The Unguarded Hour or something from one of her movies with ty power. im a happy little trooper. heehee! I better increase my insult dosage for you. oh no! so overwhelming as it is! heehee! i have a feeling i might die of migranes haeding my way! Prissy! that makes me giggle! my other grandma used to call me little miss prissy all the time....it still slips up every once in a while. heehee! so RATTY to you to! heehee
  21. oh april i could give you an enormous hug!!!! thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you! heehee! do you think its enough thank yous? nah, never enough. thank you thank you thank you thank you. heehee! every time this scene comes on, i always call grandmama to the room if she is doing something else in the house, b/c that is our favorite scenes and it NEVEr gets old! heehee! that one and the scene that you already posted when they first kiss. heehee! its like that for Rooster Cogburn too, with me and grandmama, except he never kisses kate, and it was a let down for me! i wanted them to at least kiss at the end. nevertheless, it had some great parts in it too. im sorry i wore you out dahlink! if it is that much exhausting, ill never ask again! heehee! you have to have your strangth for our tea parties......and to help me dorwn ol' mr, honey boy. heehee!
  22. I love Hitch and Alma! Maddy Carroll is a doll! Cary Grant is my second favorite actor. I'm definitely not an English hater. I merely dislike the priss and proper. yes you are! you need miss jane austen to spruce you up a bit. maybe elizabeth bennett could whipe you into shape. i know if they cant, me and april could certainly do such a deed! Real characters are Max Cady and Norman Bates. Don't you just love them? they may be to you, but they scare me to death. if i had watched those movies last night, i would have never gotten to sleep. the only reason i think of those guys as real, is b/c after i see them in the movie, they are still in my mind as psychotic as they are, haunting me! Your brand of love and discipline is me going to a British ball with a bunch of snobs. yes! it might make you a bit more......gallant. heehee! you are rough enough as it is. heehee! i actually just bought a floor length dress. it looks exactly like the evening dress style katherine hepburn and loretta young wore in the '30s. i look so classy in it and now i finally have bought a formal dress to wear to my first ball......actually that would be in my dreams heehee, its only for my graduation that was suppose to be last year. heehee! Do you always giggle when you cry? Is this what Jane Austen taught you gals to do? Y'all messed up. wehn im with you, not only do i get migranes, but i also laugh so hard that i start crying. heehee! jane austen was a perfect role model thank you very much!
  23. oh thats a great scene! thank you april! im always in heaven when i see this movie! i love how they are always getting into arguments and then they somehow make up and say, "pax" and shake hands except for the end when he lifted her up and gave her a spanking. that was rather hilarious. could you also post the scenes with the bathing suit? thats the BEST scene! please! puppy dog eyes alert! heehee! i love that polynesian music by the way. right up our alley. heehee!
  24. Well, Sweet Tea (aka "Miss P&P"), it looks like Jane Austen is starting to have an effect on him, even if our spells haven't. He's actually taking to writing in proper English. And did you notice the reference to Russell Square? What's an English-hater like FrankGrimes doing even knowing what a Russell Square is or where. miss P&P? i like that one! heehee! i like mrs. darcy too. heehee! it must be jane austen! he wasnt on our spell at this time, b/c i wasnt here! jane is our new secret weapon against the honey ratty dutchman! i knew i always loved miss austen. heehee! actually i did before i knew him. heehee! this is true, he is an english-hater! he hates my elizabeth bennett AND mr, darcy! how could even honey boy hate them? they are some of the best characters ever......they dont evne seem like characters to me! like scarlett and rhett, they are so real! and frankie has to go hating them. i have tears coming! I suspect, Mr Grimes, you protest too much. how truer can this statement be? i think he just needs a little more love and discipline! okay jackie, i found the rope! april get the chocolate, and jackie, you get the devil's food cake to gag him! heehee! So Pride and Prejudice is not a dreamland story for girly-girls? It lacks priss? And did you say Gloria Grahame plays "Elizabeth Bennet"? (GASPS)!!!!!!! (runs to my bedroom and throws myself onto my bed in tears!) heehee!
  25. No problemo! In the meantime, you can try to allay Mr Grimes' worst fears. He seems to think I poisoned you or something well i think we can both relieve him of this horrid thought! you would never do such cruel thing to me! we are related for crying out loud! heehee! frankie just doesnt understand this. tsk. tsk.
