only two? is this a trick question? Of course! why cant i ever get an easy question out of you? I'm not so sure about the "true" part. I think there are many classic film fans who probably haven't seen Gloria's films noir. well you are right about that.sorry! i guess it just depends upon what kind of movies you like huh? I think Gloria's best performances are from her films noir, but I believe the masses know her as "Violet Bick" and "Ado Annie." now that happens to be based on an opinion, silly goose. grabdmama thinks one of her best performances was as "Ado Annie". heehee! but i actually agree with both of you. i love her characters in her films noir, but i also love her as the fiesty girl who just couldnt day no. Ahhh, yes, Grace. That would be another musical I'd consider getting. I actually look to get Gene and Gloria films before the highly emotional Grace. wow! you are actually putting them before miss impassive? Thanks. I loved seeing Gloria get emotional. She was terrific in the final act of the film. she was always terrific in the final acts of her movies, frankie.

i know, i know! im late, im late, to a very important date! wow! the white rabbit does a better job of that line. heehee! i got your drooling? i got myself drooling. goodness me! oh you will just love those two. he looks devastatingly handsome in both!!! have you ever seen Valley of Decision? -
Hiya, ButterlateGREER -- not true frankie. if they were real classic film fans they would know all her GREAT roles, silly. Okay, Silly Goose, what two films do you think most classic film fans know Gloria from? You can only pick two. only two? is this a trick question? oh alright i suppose......um....now let me think about this. if someone were a TRUE classics fan, they would know all sorts of genres and gloria certainly did a great job of being in many genres of film. people might easily know her from The Big Heat with which she costarred the handsome Glenn Ford or in Bad and the Beautiful, or even The Glass Wall. but thats not to say that those movies grasped her best performances. they are famous so more people know them. oops! i said three didnt i? well you know what i mean right frankie? she was in many well known movies and isnt necessarily just known for being Ado Annie in Oklahoma b/c it is a cutise musical. but you know she is really good in Oklahoma, and i think you should see it. she has a rather big part in it next to gordon mccrae and shirley jones. i just love her songs in it! If I'm going to own a musical on DVD it may end up being Oklahoma! because of the very sweet and innocent Gloria. Actually, there is another musical I'm considering getting on DVD -- On the Riviera. i figured those two musicals would be the only ones you would ever get. heehee! they have your favorite women in them.....but you are forgetting one.......i thought you liked miss impassive.....she is in High Society isnt she? now i dont like this version even though frankie sinatra is in it, b/c grace is in it and i looooove the original better with kate hepburn and cary grant. although i usually go with the musical version of everything. those screencaps of yours.....they never fail! Uh-oh. You're trying to "butter" me up so that I watch Pride and Prejudice. heehee! you guessed me! actually i really do like those caps. that are quite intriguing and really say a lot. they capture some of the best scenes from that movie! did you put those last two on purpose? do i even have to ask? heehee!

Frank was a real man who could sing... all in favor say "I"!!! heehee! i remember N"SYNC when i was in the fourth grade and i really didnt mind them then, b/c i wasn't even a preteen yet, and their music was descent enough i guess, but when he started going solo, i turned my nose up at him big time! he has no morals and no self-control. its rediculous!

I think most classic film fans know Gloria Grahame as either "Violet Bick" in It's a Wonderful Life or "Ado Annie Carnes" in Oklahoma!. not true frankie. if they were real classic film fans they would know all her GREAT roles, silly. but you know she is really good in Oklahoma, and i think you should see it. she has a rather big part in it next to gordon mccrae and shirley jones. i just love her songs in it! those screencaps of yours.....they never fail!

...Wait! I just though of someone better than Frank. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE! HAHAHAH! Is that the biggest lie or what!?!?! talk about being scared for a minute! phew! i thought you were serious about justin before i read the next line!

Yeah, It is great! You definitely have to see it! Also have you seen "Take Me Out To The Ball Game"? That one is one of their best together! oh i love this movie! i first saw it at my grandmaa;s house because of my fascination with frankie at the time and then i started liking all of essy williams films, but i had first seen Gene in Xanadu a while before i saw this. Xanadu is one of my all time favs!! but unfortunately gene doesnt have a sailor outfit on in it. banana oil!

honestly, you two. i leave for a bit and youtwo rise a long chit chat without me. heehee! i hate that the libraries are getting rid of the VHS tapes. they are doing that all around here too. thats like getting rid of all the RECORDS! it just doesnt happen! they are a part of film history! and you can find lots of great old movies on VHS that arent on DVD and havent come on TV in a long while.

The dimples on GG look very sweet. But that serious look and arched eyebrow, well yes, she has darling dmples.shirley temple also had cute dimples. but the person who had the cutest dimples, was GARY!! heehee! i think gloria really did know how to do that arched eye brow thing. but she looks too serious in those pics. heehee! anyway, im pretty good, how are you this loverly evening? -

Hi SkippyPeanutButter! I recently got The Blue Dahlia on dvd (finally) and it's my favorite of theirs. Now I have to get The Glass Key and Saigon. They were perfect for each other. Have you ever seen Veronnie in Slattery's Hurricane with Richard Widmark and Frank's babe, Linda Darnell? I think it's a very, very underrated movie and Veronica just breaks your heart in it, she's so fragile and vulnerable. It was one of her last films. I hope The Fox Movie Channel airs it again because I want to record it badly. hey sweet dahlink!!! i loooooove the Blue Dahlia and The Glass Key! Saigon is probably my second fav of theirs next to the first two. they have to be tied! heehee! yes i have seen Slattery's Hurricane! you know i thought it was one of her last films, but i wasnt quite sure then when i saw it. she looked older in it though compared to her earlier ones. my grandmama has it on VHS and but it isnt that bad of a recording, but in sure if it aired on TV again, it might be a little better. i wish it would play again. i just loved her character in it! its one of my fav characters or hers!

I LOVE pictures of Gloria Grahame when her hair is full and shoulder-length AND she's NOT SMILING. I think she looks her sexiest then. hey cinie!!!! i like those of her too, but i lean more toward her sweetness side with the dimples showing. i think she could really look pretty no matter how you take a picture of her. -
Excuuuuuuse me? Frank is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Gene!!! (Everyone prepare for an message board fight!) Lol! Gene is a good dancer though.(although behind Fred!!!!) I am not bashing your fave! Only my opinion! (Most people agree with you, over me SADLY!) i agree whole heartedly!!!! heehee! i know most people dont agree with us. no offence to you genekgirl! we all still love gene kelly! heehee! but its hard to compare gene to freddy. they have such different styles. freddy was more swift and graceful, whereas gene was moe athletic and energetic. personall i would love to know what it was like to fly in the air and have gene catch you in his arms. heehee! phew! but i would also love to know what it felt like to twirl in freddy's arms too. (sighs) they both looked cute as sailors though.

Gloria Grahame a complete package
butterscotchgreer replied to mildredpiercefan's topic in Your Favorites
I've never seen Oklahoma! but the Gloria I love says, "I'm just a girl who can't say no." you love gloria and you havent seen Oklahoma? you have to hear that high voice she has and that cute song she sings. her and "will" and so cute together and when they kiss......step back! heehee! Thanks, girl! I'm gonna try to check them out. Gloria is an actress that I do look for when the TCM schedule is announced. have you seen them yet? if you have, did you like them? A Woman's Secret, which is directed by her talented then-husband, Nick Ray. The film also stars an actress I'm starting to fall for, Maureen O'Hara. i saw that when it came on, frankie. i actually liked that movie. maureen and gloria looked amazing! they are both beautiful but in completely different ways. yes i have seen both Human Desire and In a Lonely Place. i ddnt mind seeing them, but they arent my favorites of hers.i did think they were rathering interesting though. i thought she looked rather gorgeous in both though. Those are my two very favorite Gloria performances to date. i could have guessed. they seemed like frankie movies all the way to the endings. i must say that i liked In a Lonely place much more than human Desire, b/c she is a muderer in that one! the other one is in my eyes much more enjoyable if you compare them. she was more loverly in In a Lonely Place too. heehee! -
ill think on it. how about the scene from Seargent York when he is talking to joan leslie and she gets so flustrated with him, that she gets up to leave, but she still loves him. it is too cute if you know which one im talking about. heehee!
