  1. Good morning Jack! Sorry for budding in, Cinie-T! i'll give you a big hug! Heehee! I just had to get in on this! James Stewart started off as the "pretty boy" who then transitioned into a male hero. Typically, you'll see women who like the early films of Jimmy more and guys liking the later films of his more. I agree with the first part of that statement. But I actually like more of his later films than his early ones. does that make me masculine? i'm afraid now! Yet another great question! I'd say the buyer. If I'm offering you bad products and you know that I'm offering you bad products, that's on you. If I'm promising you one thing and giving you another, then it's not on you... at first. yeah, that's right, always blame the girl for buying your bad shinanigans. Cinie-T! I love your fav list of the 30's! whoa! and I wasn't surprised by you having all of those except one. I didn't know you prized Irene Dunne so much! She's definitely one of my top fav ladies of the 30s! what's your favorite Dunne movie?
  2. I am LOVING this conversation, Big T, Wendy, and Frank-a-zoid! Keep it goin'!
  3. YAYY!!!! WHOOPPEEEE!! I finally posted a picture that showed up! ..sorry, I had to celebrate the fixed user error. Heehee!
  4. http://www.sadmuffin.net/cherrybam/graphics/comments-congratulations/congratulations013.gif Here is a gold star for you, Jackie! Congratulations on your anniversary! You are always exciting to chat with! Edited by: butterscotchgreer on Nov 20, 2011 12:41 AM
  5. Say, why do you like shy and fearful girls? Big T, he doesn't like the shy fearful girls. he likes the ones with spitfire that fight back and like being mean like gloria in In a Lonely Place. heehee! it's no wonder he's always attracting girls who want to strangle him!
  6. Well we know how fiery that redhead is, so to go toe-to-toe with Jo is a joy to watch. Susan worked with that other firebrand, Bette Davis, in *"Where Love Has Gone."* I'd have loved to see Jo and Bette square off in something. Fireworks galore. OH I love Where Love Has Gone! Bette is so good at the whole controlling mom character. She kinda reminded a bit of Angela Lansbury in The Manchurian Candidate. Maybe not near as scary, but it's like she is wanting to catch up with Angela. Whew! Seeing Jo and Bette square off would be an interesting site to see. It would be like Bette and Joan going up against each other... I met this man when I was waiting in line to see Rio Bravo at the TCM showing in Austin and he worked in the movie industry back in the 40's - 60's and he said he got to go to some kind of after party in which Olivia DeHavilland, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were also at. Apparently he witnessed Bette and Joan get into a huge brawl and Olivia Dehavilland played refferee and got between them. I thought that was humorous. This guy said he was having the time of his life watching that argument. Heehee!
  7. I'm afraid my list on Ms. Parker would be very very small. I haven't really seen a lot of her films. She has a great look, and a great speaking voice. I have two favorites: *"CAGED"* and *"DETECTIVE STORY."* OH sad story! But oddly enough I haven't seen Caged yet (so ashamed of myself!), I think grandmama has it, I just have never gotten the chance yet. I know it was on TCM, and I wanted to record it, but missed it. I do love her in Detective Story, though. One of the good ones! Have you not seen her and Charlton Heston in The Naked Jungle? That one makes me happier than a girl with a new frilly dress! So much adventure, non-admitted romance, feistiness (by Eleanor of course), pride, and scenery. Oooh girl. Puhleeeeze. I thank you but hardly. Oh come now, Ms Cine-modest over here. Have at it girl. Jo's too scary for me in "...Eden." You know, for the small part she had in *The Rose Tattoo,* I really thought she was quite underrated. She was even better in *I'll Cry Tomorrow.* Her confrontation with Hayward's character gave me goosbumps! What a great start to her career.
  8. You're so welcome. It's a fine line between helping you and upseting Sir Francis but I took a chance. (He and I did have a coule of good lines though.) wanna know a secret? (whispering)...I think Frankie likes being upset. That might be why he's so grumpy all the time. Just saying! Heehee! All I did was copy the url and put an exclamation point at the beginning and the end. (I'm sure you know but just in case.) that's what i did! Wow!! i must be bad luck or something with computers. Thanks anyway, chris. You're are such a sweetheart!
  9. D'oh! I'll never get the cupcakes made now! You're making cupcakes??? oh yummy! will they have sprinkles and a mile high pile of frosting?!!
  10. Butter Baby, tee hee hee. Cinema Queen Big T! gravitas |?gravi?t?s| ( noun ) dignity, seriousness, or solemnity of OOOOOH! Well in that case, it makes perfect sense! Eleanor definitely plays dignity perfectly. Yet I love how she can also play softness, pride and bubbly all in different movies! Oh can we make a fav list for Eleanor pretty pretty please?!! Will you make one too? Well don't ask Grimesy. Does it look like i ever ask him such things? gee wiz, i like my strawberry shortcake without him stealing half of it. heehee! But if you're asking me...I'd say "sweet." And genuine Okay i'm officially blushing! welll i'd still say you are beautiful big T! Oh noooo. You don’t want to do that. Jo Van Fleet is one tough cookie. And stay away from her in *"EAST OF EDEN."* i can soften anyone up! i forced a hug on frankie and now look at him? he's just hiding it. Heehee! I actually thought she was really entertaining in East of Eden! She was so believable! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/31/Jo_Van_Fleet_in_East_of_Eden_trailer.jpg
  11. Musicman, Chris! Thank you bunches for posting my picture! I thoroughly appreciate it. Kim put the title on it with the pretty rose. she did such a pretty job! she made it for my Greer website!
  12. *Dutch white boy wrote:* *I'm blocking all of Sweet T's pics!* HEY! Im right here for pete's sake! You better watch it or i'll get greer to throw some rocks at you...she wasn't afraid of doing it to gable! *Jackie wrote:* *Scotchie, I love that photo you tried to post. I wish I could help figure out why it isn't working.* *I'm sure Frank loves it too. * I know. it's driving me batty. hmm.. maybe i shouldn't admit that with ol' dutch boy hanging around in the distance. heehee! Edited by: butterscotchgreer on Nov 17, 2011 10:41 PM
  13. Cinemaven, chickadee!! **the gravitas of *Eleanor Parker* okay i thought i knew a lot of big words, but i actually don't know what gravitas means. Can you pretty please enlighten me on that one, Cinie? the sexiness of *Barbara Nichols* the sweetness of *Sara Shane* or the fiery-ness of *Jean Willes* (who I thought was Ava when I first saw this). which one do i fall under? wait im afraid to ask... I guess that makes me the Queen Mother: no it doesn't! you aren't mean like she is. you are loverly! AND beautiful! I kinda wanna to go up to her during that movie and say, "look missy, you should try hugging people some time. maybe you wouldn't be so grumpy anymore!" heehee!
  14. I can't believe I left *The Hucksters* and *Call of the Wild* off my list!!! How delightlessly idiotic! Don't be silly! You could never be idiotic! You au are perfection, dahlink! I love those two movies! They are so delightfully wonderful! butterscotchgreer has inspired me to watch *Adventure* again, though it was not a hit with me. Except Joan Blondell, I loved her and Gable's scenes with Thomas Mitchell. I love watching men on boats! I always dreamed of marrying a man with a boat. Of course, I'm thinking of a 50ft ketch and I'd end up with a tuna barge. You people make me blush an aweful lot! Wy is it that I can never make you blush? heehee! I always thought Adventure was such an underrated movie! Why wasn't it a hit with you the first time? It does start off a little slow, though. I will admit that. But when Greer comes on screen, she just lights it up wiht her feisty temper. Whew! I'm surprised she didn't smack Gable when they first met. Heehee! And I usually don't prefer Joan Blondell in most of her movies, but she is really funny in this one. She really proved to be the comic relief with her bouncy, very flighty outlook. She really proved me wrong about her acting overall with her performance in this movie, because I could never get used to her acting style with other performances. She became extremely likable!
  15. Jackie, Thank you for the loverly compliments! I love that picture of Greer and Gable. It's so funny, yet kind of sexy. Yes, that picture is with Loretta Young when they were on the set of Call of the Wild. They made another movie together, that I find ultimately a really cute one. Its called Key to te City. I love it when they go to a party dressed up as children. Heehee!
  16. Okay I don't mean to interrupt anyone's conversation, but I am going to post a pic by a different method to see if it works. Just a test. <3 http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s295/butterscotchgreer/jklj.jpg Nope still won't work... 17. OOH OOH may I pretty please make a Mr. Gable list of favorites? Oh goodie goodie, here I go!: Just my top 20...But I love most all of his films. I wish I knew how to post these pics like I used to. Apparently I am losing my touch. heehee! http://www.acertaincinema.com/workspace/media/greer-garson-clark-gable-adventure.jpg http://www.things-and-other-stuff.com/images/MASTOSprofiles/loy/1936-watkins-gable-harlow.jpg http://s11.allstarpics.net/images/orig/1/n/1na7lfhdb25fbd5l.jpg 1. 18. The book is such an awesome find. I love looking through it. i'm learning lots of things! Continue to train your young man. He'll come around. Well I did get him to watch Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison. He actually liked it. he said it was different from any movie he'd ever seen and loved how the ending wasn't predictable. I love this film and could watch it multiple times. i'm so excited, i am branching him out. It's jaw-dropping, he even said he wouldn't mind seeing more Gary movies. I'm in pure heaven!
  19. Bonsoir, Poison Ivy! -- Yes, Mr. Jack falls from the hammock! Yeah, and gets no sleep! That's because Lana is after me! you deserve it! I feel like making those ghostly noises when you aren't looking. Heehee! She's an awfully cute bad guy! You are such a male! This is true. I do prefer the darker, more complex characters. But I like Jamie Boy's style. ha! Admit of defeat! Well, not really, but it still feels good to say. Heehee! You like Jamie Boy's style of being sneaky? well that certainly explains a lot. Awwwwwwwww, poor Fern! Yeah, but in the first half of the film, she wasn't with the right guy! She was with her husband Beaky Watson! I don't think she ever even loved him! You?! You're the Invisible Woman! Pretty pretty please watch Melody Jones! Something tells me you will like Loretta Young's character. Yes! Anything to escape Funny Girl ! you haven't even seen it for crying out loud! They're not as good as the first four seasons since Chrissy is out, but there are definitely some hilarious episodes in season five. i'm really excited to actually watch them in order. my favorite is chrissy, so i don't know whatr i will think of it after she leaves. she is just too funny! You still have to pay shipping, Silly Goose! But it's going for $5.49, which is dirt cheap. gee ya think? goodness me, i've ordered from amazon before. Who?! you know very well who i am referring to. she can put you in line, which is quite fun to watch if i do say so! Heehee!
  20. 'Ello Big T! Hi Baby T. :-) How ya doing way up in the cold land? I've been watchhing your Meg Ramsey Series. I showed some of them to my sweetie, because he wanted to know who all of you are. Heehee! He likes it too! Aaaah, Myrna Loy. Isn't she wonderful?! Singularly unique in motion pictures. No leading lady is really quite like her. She "occupies" her own little niche practically alone. In *"The Rains Came"* Loy sits on a divan out on a porch. Brent stands before her as a lightning storm rages outside of the compound they're visiting. He lights a cigarette and gives it to her. Lightning flashes and she looks up at Brent. The way she takes the cigarette is like nothing I ever saw Nora Charles do. Oh my goodness! You should be a screenwriter. It sounds so suave when you describe it.
  21. I'll answer you in the morning, Black Jack. I'm really sleepy...you and your meanness, wore me out! Whew! Heehee!
  22. Bonsoir Dutch White Boy! *Happy feet?! I've got happy feet?* Yes, Mr. Jack falls from the hammock! *I do! I do! Brenda Joyce is sweet in *The Rains Came no she isn't! She's a bad guy in disguise! *Ha!* what are you laughing at!? *It burns!* It wasn't hot anymore, you big baby! *Why? He's fun!* You usually enjoy the darker caracter, though. I mean I have seen you like a few fun characters, but not as many as the opposite kind. I mean you have to admit. *She felt trapped and wanted out so she pretended to be something she's not: a bad girl who doesn't care. I thought that was cute.* That's not what I would consider cute, that's called being a go-getter, which is the quality I did like in her, but she wasn't exactly someone I would call sweet. When you compare other characters to her, there's really no battle. *I didn't find it believable or interesting.* Alright already! I believe you! *like her in the first half of the film! It's the second half of the film where I didn't enjoy her. Darn that Rama!* Yeah, but in the first half of the film, she wasn't with the right guy! *For some reason, I can't get into him.* really? now I find this highly intriguing. I thought you would like him! *I didn't say they fixed everything!* You might as well have! *That's for sure! I still have to watch that one, actually. I'd watch it if you're going to be around.* Say what?!! I thought you had seen it at least once. huh. I'm always around. Such nonsense. Oh goodie I can't wait to hear wat you have to say! OOH OOH!..... Jack: To Happy Days Janet: To Good Times Chrissy: Little House on the Prairie! Heehee! I'm still rolling on the floor with that one! * Poison me now!* Really???? Can I pretty please? I even have my long black gloves with me! *I believe he's in just three episodes. They are usually good.* oh man! Now I really wanna see them! I can't wait to see more of Chrissy's silly jokes and silent bursts of laughter! That cap is really funny...I'm guessing they don't tell him. *Wow! That's awesome! The first season only has six episodes, so it's cheap. The other seasons are over 50% off at Amazon, right now. The second season is terrific. I also love the third season.* 6 episodes? is that even possible? I know that suzanne was in it to the 5th season? are those good too? Great tip with Amazon. The first season is 2 dollars! AWESOME! *A cold shower!* Yea, i'll just get April dahlink to help me throw you in! Edited by: butterscotchgreer on Nov 15, 2011 12:47 AM
  23. Hey happy feet! You can still be sweet! Oh like you would notice any sweetness. He was determinedly boring! you're just be delusional again... Are you making fun of me?! Me? I'm just a sweet girl. (batting my eye lids) I really like Ty's "Jamie Boy." I just spit out my hot tea. Heehee! I love his playfulness and energy. He's exciting. Rama? No! Actually, I really like Jamie Boy, though. I think his character is so dynamic! I'm kind of surprised that you like him, though. George is great! He's playing a Clark Gable character. And I found Brenda Joyce to be cute. noone can play a Clark Gable character, except for Clark! Heehee! I didn't say I didn't like his character, silly. I loved it, i just thought the beginning wasn't as interesting. Brenda Joyce wasn't my favorite, though. Why did you like her so much? I didn't feel anything with Rama and Edwina. I didn't buy into Edwina's transformation. Well her little transformation may not have been the smartest thing she did. She is playful in the beginning and very much into herself! She was tearing into Tom! so why didn't you like her? she sounds like one of your girls. You need one! hey, it wasn't intentional! I'm not that big on Anthony Perkins unless he's crazy. what kind of answer is that?! Anthony Perkins has a whole bunch of sides to him besides the craziness. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Hey you think Daisy Duke and Chrissy are cute and I can't think Gary is a cutie? why are you so grumpy? Heehee! Those are the bad ones! Are you insinuating Along Came Jones is a terrible western?....You have issues. Heehee! I meant it would be death to watch it! Funny Girl is a very inspiring film, okay! it has all the essential elements to an exciting movie! just because you are a wimp and don't accept the happiness from musicals, doesn't mean they are death to watc. So there! And the message is to hide the organ in the attic! oh please... She was quite amusing. I liked her daughters even more. ha! I KNEW you would say that!!! Did you understand why I post that? The soldier boyfriend in *Friendly Persuasion*, Peter Mark Richman, plays "Chrissy's" dad on Three's Company, the "Reverend Snow." Oh hey guys I knew that! heehee! Actually I haven't seen the episodes with him yet. I'll remember that when they finally come on. I am going to probably order the first couple seasons soon, because i always fall asleep waiting for it to come on TVLand at 3 in the morning. i hate that they play Three's Company so late..or in this case, so early in the morning. i'm anxious to see more episodes! I need one of those! one of what?
  24. Cinie-T, I didn't mean to interrupt your previous discussion. Please do go on with your chit chat. I do enjoy reading it. bagladymimi, Nice to meet you! What biographies do you like most?
  25. Sooooo.....I was in this huge antique mall the other day looking for something specific, but I ended up looking around the entire place (big surprise heehee) and I ended up finding this book called, The Movie Buff's Book by Ted Sennett. It was written in 1974 and I just had to get it. I thought I had like every book about old movies, but evidently not yet. Of course that's an exaggeration, but anyway, in that book I found out that Greer Garson was supposed to play Gertrude Lawrence in the biopic Star!, but Julie Andrews got cast instead at the last minute. What are the odds of that?! So I flipped out when I read that and my eyes lit up and was jumping up and down for such a little piece of information and my boyfirend was less than impressed. He said, "Oh no. Here we go. More old movie stuff. Please no." Poor baby. Heehee! But I thought it was so cool. I mean even though I love Greer to bits and bits and she will always be my favorite, I don't think I could see her as Julie's replacement. She definitely could have given the attitude that Julie gave in her performance, but I'm glad Julie was cast, because her voice hit the spot for me, every time I watch it. Such a loverly musical! I don't know if anyone would find this nearly as interesting, but just thought it would be loverly to share.
