well i saw that one a long time ago and i dont think it was on TCM. i saw it on an old vhs tape and it was recorded off some other channel. the quality wasnt that good, so one of these days i hope it plays on TCM and see if it is better quality.

it is a strange story, loretta young is homeless and meets spencer, who takes her in and takes care of her and they fall in love. she gets pregnant, and he wants to leave but still take care of her kind of. it is kinda hard to explain. it is like trying to explain Peter Ibbetson. heehee! esp since she makes this "castle" for him in that little house they are in. they are both in a sort of dream world in this movie. it is....different lets say that, but it is a good movie and i do reccomend it to anyone, esp spencer and loretta fans. they both look gorgeous in it b/c it was made in 1933. i love that year!!! my grandmama doesnt especially like this movie as much, b/c it isnt our kind of movie we watch over and over again together. we watch the suspence, musicals and sappy ones with each other, mostly the cutsie ones. we both have them all memorized and i love laughing to them with her. but she keeps me learning about all of the old movies so i am well cultured as she puts it. heehee! he actually fell in love with her in real life and she wasnt as much in love with him, but had a sort of crush on him. they were both catholic and he was married, so she decided to stay away from him and he wanted to marry her, but decided that it was better to stay married to his wife.....then kate hepburn came along. but i had read in many places that spencer was such a ladies man and had so many affairs with almost every woman he worked with. some of them didnt want to have an affair with him, and he didnt like that. he apparently got disturbed by this. like irene dunne i think didnt want to and a few more that escape my mind at the moment. i dont know, im just repeating what i read. heehee!

hey maureen!! nice thread!! deborah kerr was a great actress, but the one movie i didnt like her in as much was the Naked Edge. im sorry, but i didnt like that she actually thought gary was the killer, and he was her husband. if he was my husband i would have believed anything he said, although there were some rather suspicious moments like the trickle of sweat down his face, and when i thought he was going to push her off the edge of that cliff. i felt so ashamed for thinking that, and fortunately he didnt do that. i loved her in The King and I, Julius Ceasar, Tea and Symphony, and esp. in An Affair to Remember. oh my goodness i watched this the other night and every single time i watch it i cry my heart out at the end. then i watched Sleepless in Seattle. when they were watching this movie in that movie, and quoting the lines on the couch eating their pop corn, i had to quote it with them. heehee! and of course cry right afterwards!!! "winter must be cold for those with no warm memories, we've already missed the spring" im tearing up right now!!!! i liked her in the Hucksters too and From Here to Eternity, and King Soloman's Mines, and Please Believe Me.another movie i dont like her in in If Winter Comes with Walter Pidgeon. i loved watching it only b./c angela lansbury and walter were in it. then when i saw her come on i figured it couldnt be too bad, so i watched more of it. she stole walter away from angela lansbury. heehee! i hate when they make angela the bad guy, and janet leigh is also in it, and they amke walter so abused in this movie, so i have never watched it more than once, although it does have some cute moments with walter.

oh my goodness i just noticed that last night when i was going through all my coop pics...again. heehee! that is too funny, i saw in almost all of them that they hardly ever touch, hug, or kiss, or even hold hands very much. i do have a couple where they are holding hands, but even in those their hands arent that interlocked with each other and they look as if they are about to disconnect.

yeah i know, angie told me on the phone that i should register, but i was in such a hurry this morning that i totally forgot about the watermark and just saved them to the computer. but now i am gonna go back and register and save them all over again heehee!

-
look everyone!! i finally got to scan my pic of greer and gary together! isnt is beautiful? and audrey is with them too! i so wish greer and gary could hav e done a movie together. iget so flustrated when i think about it! heehee! this is thew one with rocky actually smiling. but gary doesnt look so good in this pic. this was taken a few days before he died. isnt that aweful??!! we never see rocky smiling with gary, so i treasure this one. heehee!

i watched Peter Ibbetson again last night, and every time i watch it, something catches my eye that i didnt see before. it is just one of those movies where there is a lot going on, and you see something different each time that you find fascinating. i love that! oh he looks so incredibly handsome in this movie and i have watched it so many times that it is now on my top favs of his now. the only disagreemant i have with this movie is that i never liked Ann Harding as the lead actress. she was all wrong for this part. i love her in other movies, but i think they could have chose a much better actress for the part. her voice just didnt sound like it fit with him or the movie,i hope that makes sense.

FRANKIE! i know you were kidding about the happy ending of Out of the Past, i decided to play along. heehee! my grandmama doesnt mind watching it actually, i am like her in many ways, we both like the same things and all of those things vary with differences. heehee! i know it is hard to believe, but we love watching the suspence movies together a lot, like the loretta young and doris day ones. we like being on the edge of our seats throughout the whole movies, but if they get scarry, im loosing interest, b/c i am not a scarry movie person at all. but i can handle the old sci-fi horrors, b/c they arent too scarry. heehee! yes my grandmama watches Night Rider, we love watching detective shows together too. heehee! no leave that water in your ears....we all love april! i use any fabric that looks pretty to me, or what the pattern says to use. heehee!
-
wow! april i love them!! yay! him with greer AND walter.....woohoo! i love the top one too april, he makes me drop to the floor when i listen to him too.doesnt he ever have that effect on you?

thats funny you should mention Dear Heart maureen. i have been searching for that movie for years and i havent seen it. i have read that it is great and that i should watch it, but it hasnt come on tv and it isnt in my grandmama's library of old movies. heehee! -
Young at Heart isnt my favorite of frankie's movies, but it certainly is a good one at that. he does a fantastic job in this one and the emotions that come from his face just entrance you. he just make you wanna cry!!
