i like those too, Neptune's Daughter is a funny one and i like ricardo montalbon..in his early movies, not star trek. heehee!! plus you have a great supporting cast with red skelton AND betty garrett. she was always funny to me. i also liked Jupiter's Darling, which for years i got mixed up with Neptune's Daughter, b/c they were both planet names. oy vey!! i love seeing the champions dancing together(marge and gower). it is so sad that they got divorced, they were perfect for each other!! not to mention howard keel is in this one. sighs. i love hearing that voice. he is in another another one of hers which is extremely funny and he sings in that one too(big surprise) , Texas Carnival. one reason i liked it to begin with is b/c i live in texas. heehee! i also like Easy to Wed. i like all films with van (vanji) johnson. sighs again. dont anyone tell gary im drooling over other men. heehee! i love all the andy hardy films and when i first saw the one essy is in, i was surprised. i didnt know she was even in andy hardy. i love the swimming scene in that one as well.

And it's usually a very* *strong love, although the male characters may not always outwardly express this love.* i know what you mean. my mother loves movies with just more than romance, she grew up a tom boy and never did like all the mushy sappiness. there are other great parts to a movie other than the mushy stuff, and i know that, i just happen to like the mushy stuff a little more. heeehee!

*Funny you should mention that!* *In her apartment, nice view, overlooking the East River, Pat Neal has a work study, and it is* *jammed with pix of her and GC, newspaper headlines on GC, mementoes, etc. May not be in a* *closet, but the spirit remains the same.* hey john!! angie is right, that is sad but sweet about pat neal having that collection of his pics too, but somehow that doesnt surprise me one bit. i watched like five minutes of her private screenings on TCM only b/c i thought she might mention something about gary, and wouldnt you know it, right when i turned the tv on, she was talking with robert osborn about her affair with gary. angie was also right in telling me that she thinks that she is still in love with gary after all these years. she told me about the bright leaves documentary, b/c i still do have that one yet, and she said you could tell that she is still in love with him. i think it shows whenever she talks about him.

oh my goodness i had forgotten about Lonelyhearts and NorthWest Mounted Police too. thoase are excellent movies!! and one has gary. heehee!

im glad you enjoyed that movie film fatale. i do hope it comes on again soon, it seems a lot of people havent seen that one and it should be more well known than it is. i love the way he stutters in that one. he stuttuers in some of his movies, and always seems to do it around greer in the movie. he esp. does it when he is nervous or scarred at times like when greer was sick in Scandal at Scourie and he didnt know what was going on or if she would be alright. he is so cute when he does that!

actually it was her films and judy garland's films that both made more money as musical movies than all the other ones...or so i read in many places. i love her musical films too!!

I LOVE LUCY TOO!!!! yay i collect all the episodes of lucy. i watch the mover and over again and simply adore them and never do get tired of laughing to the same ones. heehee! i love the great train robbery one, when she pulls the brake on the train multiple times and the food ends up all over the mertzes and ricky. heehee! i laugh so hard when i saw that. after like three times they started wearing rain coats so the food wouldnt get all over their clothes. heehee! she is defintely on my list of fav comediannes!

hey jeff!!!! the olympics put syncronized swimming as an event b/c of essy. yes she did help start it. the first time it was ever put into a movie was in Bathing Beauty, one of her movies with red skelton. they did a few together. i dont remember is it was even around before essy came along. ill have to look that up. hey cinemaven, im glad you are a fan of hers to. what are some that you like best of hers?

*About the 50 minutes which was cut, Miss G, that was cut from Souls At Sea. I would guess that Cloak & Dagger had around 13 minutes, one reel. Either way, a shame about both. And you're so right, hadn't thought of that, today all of that would be a part of dvd extras.* i would love to see those 50 minutes from souls at sea and the 15 from cloak and dagger!!! oh my goodness that would make my day for sure. i love souls at sea esp, it is such a great movie!!!

*i know many people enjoy the prince and princess fairytale-type of romances that are presented without the hidden messages. Those tales of love are far more accessible. I'm someone who likes a deeper kind of love. You may not always see this love with your eyes, but you better believe you can feel it taking over your body. Mann's westerns and noirs often project such energy. The surface levels are tough, but if you peel back a layer or two, you're gonna find out that Mann is offering you a whole lot more than a hug and kiss.* hey frankie!!!! isnt it a loverly day today?!! that was very nicely put, frankie. i havent seen many mann westerns and noirs, but i have seen a few. i never thought of them that way before, but when you mentioned it, i kinda see what you are projecting to. i must confess that im more of a prince and princess fairytale sort of sap, but i also like other movies with that deeper, sort of suspenceful type of love that you cant see too well on the surface, but once you look for it, you can in a sense. but love isnt the only thing you find there, you are right, they give you so much more to go on besides the mushy stuff, although i mostly prefer that. heehee!. they give you a lot of on the edge of your seat stuff. im sure you love those kind of movies where you cant wait to see how it turns out and you can never see whats coming around the corner. that is so cool!
