  1. im sorry but i just died of boredon when i watched grace kelly in High Noon. she was just so.....drab to say the least. i mean they were having an affair in real life, at least she could look a little bit excited when kissing or even standing aside gary. i kept yelling at the screen saying, come on woman! show some expression!" but i really do love this movie, i just dont pay attention to grace, i just focus on gary. its not like i dont do that with all his others anyway. heehee!

  2. yes frank ill watch myself, but i love mixing movies of genre sometimes, i dont know why. heehee! sometimes ill be in the mood to cry heavily to Pride of the Yankees and then half an hour later after i fully recover from crying to that one, ill watch Julia Misbehaves or some funny romantic movie. heehee!

oh that was so fun when we got to see Talk of the Town at the paramount theater angie!! that was such a good movie, i really wanna watch it again. the next time it comes on TCM i have to record it. "it is a moral imperative"!! heehee! i love using that line from Real Genius. i know it is a really stupid movie but i laugh hysterically to it. heehee!

im glad you are gonna get to record Random harvest angie, i have to say that youll love it and just ball your eyes out in the end. it is such a beautiful story and i must agree with dan that is is among my top favs of her films, not to mention of ronnie colman's films too.

    back onto gary, heehee!...........

  3. oh thank you metsfan!!! i love all the pics!!

hey dan!! i thought Her Twelve Men was such a cute movie, but it didnt have the magic that all their other films had. you will actually like Scandal at Scourie dan. they work well in that one too, but it was made in like 1953 or around that year. heehee! it isnt their usual drama, but they are still theperfect married couple in it, and they adopt a little girl in it. it is simply too cute not to at least see it a few times...well for me it was. heehee!

i dont think i can even make a decision when it comes to walter's, gregory's, or ronald's voice. i think they are all too handsome for words. they had the best voices i think out of all the men back then.

  4. i do like bette and think she uis a great actress, but on my list as you probably know, is greer garson. heehee! we all have our best actresses picks. heehee! bette was real versatile.

i think my favorite A & C movie is a tie between Naughty Nineties and Buck Privates, and Hold That Ghost. i just love their, "who's on first" number. i swear i think ill die from suffacation, b/c i laugh so hard to that and cant breathe each time.

i will have to see Finishing School the next time it comes on then april, thanks for telling me about it, it sounds so good!

  5. *Some great comedies to consider though they are not considered oscar worthy:*

*Buck Privates (Abbott and Costello's best movie)*

*Bride Came C.O.D. Great comedy with Bette Davis*

*There were a bunch more movies that I haven't seen released in that year as well but I don't* *know how often you get this many all time classic movies released in one year. Perhaps only in* *1939 and 1942 might this also be true.*

oh dan did you see Bride Came C. O. D.? what did you think of it? it is one of my favs of bette's films. i also love buck privates!! the andrews sisters are in that one and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" is one of my fav songs from the forties!

  6. i wish barbara stanwyk could have won at least one socar. she was so talented!! at least she got an honorary oscar. :) i think she deserved it for ball of fire, but thats me.

since we all seem to be on the subject of Cloak and Dagger, i watched it last night and loved it. i read many reviews about it, and was actually hesitating it, b/c a lot of people said that it wasnt that good, but then i asked anige and she said it was real cute, so i had to watch it. i thought it was a real good movie!!

i hate requsting a movie on here, b/c sometimes i feel noone is even reading it. thats so cool that you posted that angie!

i finally watched Rebecca and thought joan fontain gave a much better performance in that then in Suspicion. although i loved her in a Letter from an Unknown Woman too. there was also another cute one she was in called Maids Night Out, but it wasnt really and oscar performance type movie, just a cute romance.

  7. hello cinemaven, no i dont know the name of that blonde girl. i dont remember her name in the movie, but i tried looking it up, and i still cant find it. maybe someone else knows.

i think the only movie i have seen cornell borchers in was Never Say Goodbye. so yeah i remember her. heehee!

  8. i love the pics brian!!!

hey cashette!! i know i love that color pic of her in the green dress!!!! it is my fav color. yay!! i just reeeaaalllyyyyy wanna see her oscar dress in color. i have more pics of her at the oscars in that dress. if you wanna see them i can try to post them. :)

i love that pic from Along Came Jones! i love any pic i can get my hands on of Along Came Jones.

  9. that is so terrible!!!!!! okay now all the pieces fit together. thanks for clearing that up for me april. so that is why they had so mch money and why she was having such a terrible time getting a visa. i feel so sorry for all those women who actually had to and still do have to go through all that. poor dana wynter! heehee! i know she was only acting...:)

  10. hey april!!! im glad you liked it too. you know that is another thing i left out that i didnt like too much. i was never too much of a fan of mel ferrer and when i saw him on there i kinda turned up my nose, but i still liked watching it and need to record it the next time it comes on for sure. heehee! i thought what he did for dana wynter at the end was too sweet too.

*It was an interesting attempt to show what displaced young German women often faced in the aftermath of WWII and I couldn't help but feel relieved that my own Mother was actually too young to have had to face similar consquences, hard as it was regardless of her age.*

i definitely agree with you on that one. i thought it very interesting also, and wouldnt wish anything of that on any women now or then. i liked her blonde friend too, but the only thing i didnt understand was the part when dana escaped that russian drunk of a general, who was one of them who tried to take advantage of her, and she went to the americans and ended up running into those housekeepers that were living in the old building in berlin. they were extravagant and suddenly had so much money and invited her into their house with two other women they called their, "nieces", and then another dude tried to hit on her and she ran out of their house, but they ran after her and said she couldnt go. i always wondered why they did that. i didnt understand that whole part really...what they were up to. it just confused me a little.

  11. i just watched this movie the other day and loved it for some reason. i had first seen dana wynter in On the Double with danny kaye and loved her in that one, then when i saw this on tv, i just had to watch it, b/c it had her in it.i thought it was real good. it had a great story line, actors, acting, and everything else a great movie has. the only thing i disliked about it was that she got taken advantage of by german and russian soldiers too many times.that really disturbed me, but she finally got with her man at the end and i had to sigh!! :)

does anyone else have comments on this movie?

  12. there is no doubt in my mind that fay wray had the best onscreen scream. i cant stand that they chose naomi watts for the remake of king kong, but then i cant stand that they ever remade king kong!!!

tanks for the gorgeous pics of fay and gary sis!! love them to pieces!!! i hadnt seen the one with them kissing in front of the wheel before!! ooooh!

i hated that fay was cast as the real mean(angie knows another word we call her in that movie heehee!) person in One Sunday Afternoon, b/c i love watching her movies and then to see her as a stuck up snob just ruins it, but nevertheless, i still love watching that movie over and over again. it is too cute for me not to.

i also love her in Wax Museum, and Doctor X. but i must go with king kong as my favorite of hers. i am completely dying to see First Kiss in which she does with gary, but noone seems to have ever seen it before on here.

  13. oh angie, is that creepy guy still onto that new girl? well at least he isnt paying attention to you anymore...well for now. heehee! lets hope he never does again!! please dont ever wear that shirt again. heehee!

    love the pics kim!!!

  14. hey dan, i dont know what the reason was for bogie not being nominated in 1942 for casablanca, but people thought it was such a great movie that they decided to nominate him finally the next year round even though it was released much earlier. i defintely agree on the fact that jimmy cagney didnt deserve the oscar for Yankee Doodle Dandy. i thought it was a cutsie movie and all, but i wasnt impressed with the acting enough to like it as oscar material, esp for the lead actor oscar. but other than his performance 1942 was a bad year for me, b/c i loooved walter pidgeon in Mrs. Miniver, and gary in Pride of the Yankees, and ronnie colman in Random Harvest all the same. i just can never make up my mind and i hope noone ever asks me which one i think deserved the oscar, b/c i will plead the fifth. heehee!

i do love roddy mdowell in all his films and always thought he was extremely talented, but i think i must gree with on that the film was too centered around him. i would have loved if they centered a little more on walter pidgeon and maureen o' hara...just a little more at least. but i thought roddy was too cute to turn down otherwise.

and please dont anyone mention to me that roddy was gay!!!!!!! i never want to hear that again..PLEASE!!!! my roddy will never be that way to me. :)
