actually *Sail Away* was a musical play by Noel Coward. Act I "Come to Me" "Sail Away" "Where Shall I Find Him?" "Beatnik Love Affair" "Later Than Spring" "The Passenger?s Always Right" "Useless, Useful Phrases" "Go Slow, Johnny" "You?re a Long, Long Way from America" Act II "The Customer?s Always Right" "Something Very Strange" "The Little Ones? ABC" "Don?t Turn Away from Love" "When you Want Me" "Why Do the Wrong People Travel" i dont think *Sailing Along* is based on *Sail Away*, but it may be. i missed it when it was on TCM.

*Are you forsakin'?* im a gonna forsake a you ma darlin', but you have ta be nice to me first! heehee! *Long black gloves also allow a woman to strangle a man and not leave any prints. How practical.* now honestly, have you seen any women wearing black gloves that even look like they are going to kill a man?! i just showed you a picture of greer with her mother wearing long black gloves, do you see a man with her? no! *They were both scared to fall in love with each other. They knew exactly what they were feeling inside. The timing was off for each, though. As one would follow their heart, the other would deny theirs. But "Amy Jolly" was in the wrong; she's a married woman. But she couldn't supress her love any longer. Ohh, those drums.* i know they were, but i hated that they were so scared, i just wanted to be together so badly! i know she was married, and i hated that she was! thats just so wrong, i cried the first time i saw this movie, b/c she was married and i just couldnt hold it in any longer, b/c i wanted them to be togther for the rest of their lives, but they knew they couldnt.

frankie think about this question really carefully and let me know what you think the answer is.... does this look like a psychopathic killer, b/c she's wearing long black gloves to you? helen wanted to tell you something.....

*Ohh, I get it. I see what you're up to you. You wish this for me:* thats not very funny frankie!! on the other hand, it could be arranged....... april i think we should get the ol' couldron out and get some glue and peanuts! you posted this cap on purpose didnt you? youre just begging for my to give you a puppy doggy pout, why do you insist on posting the most intense scene of an intense movie with such great acting? i have to admit that i agree with you about this movie...gloria just shines with emotion with Bogie and shows her true versatility toward this role. i cant ever put my finger on exactly what i like about it, i just love it though.

hey frankie darlin'! *Because she knows she's starting to fall for him and that's TROUBLE.* and you call ME a homewrecker for putting the ocean between me and my love? whats wrong with you? but you think marlene should make gary go away when they both know they are in love with each other? *Howdy!* howdy cowboy! heehee! *Notice the long black gloves. That's never a good sign.* excuse me! wearing black gloves makes a woman look very elegant and beautiful! does she have a face that kills in that picture? honestly!

bonjour mon soeur joli! *You Can't Take it With You (Kauffman/Hart)* *The Man Who Came to Dinner (would love to have seen Alexander Woolcott in this)* *The Philadelphia Story (Philip Barry)* *Holiday (Philip Barry)* *Sabrina (Samuel Taylor)* *Private Lives (Noel Coward)* *Barefoot in the Park (Neil Simon)* GREAT LIST!!! i love those plays, especially The Philadelphia Story. i would have looooved to see Kate in the broadway production of that story! Noel Coward was a great playwright! one of my favorites! *Bitter Sweet*(operetta), *Words and Music*, *Sail Away*, and *Fallen Angels* are some of my favorites of his. i wouldnt mind seeing sabrina on the stage! oh my!

*We Live Again is the only one I saw all the way through. I was very surprised by it. First, I* *was happy to see the wonderful quality of the print---it looked pristine! At first I was a bit put* *off by March's over the top acting in the early scenes, but then I saw the contrast of his subdued* *(dead?) self as he aged and began sliding into stultifying class consciousness. It is a fabulous* *story, one I'm surprised I overlooked when I was into reading Russian literature (Dostoyevsky's* *"The Idiot" is my all time favorite). However, I felt I would have like to see what Frank Borzage* *would have brought to this story. Mamoulian is a wonderful director, and there were some very* *lovely moments, but I think Borzage would have been ideal.* the overacting part is what i wasnt expecting from Fredric. i do like Fredric'c acting, but i am not really used to seeing him overact, well in my opinion anyway, so this movie sort of threw me off a bit too. i felt the same way as the story progressed, it made more sense, therefore i understood why it was being done. you've read, "The Idiot"!? so have i believe it or not! about two years ago when i was just finishing my homeschooling, my mother made me read "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoyevsky, b/c she thought it would make my culture more well rounded and it was sooo deep but i understood it after momma explained some stuff to me and i became interested im his work. so i then read "The Idiot" too rather liked it too. my parents looove his books and have read most if not all of them. *I have The Masquerader, Come and Get It, Nana and One Heavenly Night recorded and waiting* *to be watched.* you recorded them?! good for you! i cant wait to hear what you think of The Masquerader especially.

hey dahlink! out of that list of the lesser known Samual Goldwyn movies that were playing last night, i saw a few i hadnt seen before! i simply loved them! i got to see *We Live Again* and Fredrick March was so good in it! his performance wasnt what i was expecting, but i really liked it, but didnt like the fact that the girl goes to crime. i have seen all the other ones except *Nana*, and i got to see that too. i loved the romance aspect in this movie! heehee! i love how she handled both of the men who fell for her. the only thing is that i couldnt record any of these. our hard drive is full right now. banana oil! heehee! so ill have to wait until they come on again to record them. it gives me something to look forward too. *The Masquerader* is a really good movie, but i didnt get to se it last night. i fell asleep right as it started. but i love Ronald Colman in it. he is soooo handsome! i dont think he was ever ugly in any movie! of course he will always be cutest as my _Smithy_ in *Random harvest* though. heehee!

april dahlink! *Yes! We now have irrefutable proof!!* We Have triumph! dahlink, break open the confetti! hey jackie! *You know, as much as I love Marlene all dolled up in feathers and glitter, she looks her absolute loveliest in these captures you posted. The simple black draping her neckline makes you concentrate on her face, and expressions.....which show her to be a really good actress.* i have to agree. marlen isnt my favorite actress, but i really dont mind her in Morrocco. she really does shine her loveliest in those caps. just look at those cheek bones, they are ever so loverly! what i dont get is why she wants gary to go! heehee!

*I would love to have seen Gigi and My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison,* *respectively. However, I am more partial to straight plays, and particularly comedies by the* *likes of Kauffman and Hart.* hey dahlink! which of the straight plays do you like best? i love Kauffman and Hart too!

hey bronxie!!! *Saw THE REFORMER AND THE REDHEAD this afternoon -- it was fairly amusing thanks to a witty script, and a treat to see husband and wife Dick and June together. Powell has to contend with crooked politicians, his own integrity, Allyson's ranch menagerie, and remembering the name of Finland. Heavily New Yawk-accented Marvin Kaplan, as the low paid and overly articulate assistant, adds some un-Hollywood-ish "intellectual" zest, and David Wayne makes with the sophisticated wisecracks.* Reformer and the Redhead is one of my FAVORITE movies with junie and richard!!! i will never stop laughing to that movie and my favorite scene is where richard meets the lion for the first time and hides behind the couch and then crawls ontop of the piano and backs into the corner shooing it away with his feet....thats the funniest part of the whole movie! i couldnt stop laughing for ten minutes at grandmama's house. of course i had the big case of the giggles when i was 6 years old when i first saw it, so it would make sense. heehee! i love David Wayne in this movie. when momma saw him, she had remembered him from something else when he was a lot older, but couldnt think of it until the end of the movie...she had remembered him from a nancy drew episode from 1979. i was amazed! i wish junie and richard were in a lot more movies together than just the few they were in. i love their chemistry together! its too cute that they were married in real life too.....AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! heehee! bronxie, what were your favorites scenes? -

I had a couple of cuppas this morning.* its raining in New York!!?? i wanna be there! i love when it rains, but it doenst rain as much as i want it to in Texas. i only had a couple cuppas today too. did you steal your bosses stash again? heehee! i stole some of my momma's earl grey. heehee! can you steal when the other person knows about it? heehee! *How is school?* school was absolutely perfect today! i aced my math test today and i didnt even study until this morning. heehee! i completely forgot about it and worried for nothing, and for speech my teacher made me get up in front of the class and tell about my experience at ACC while making me stare at one person for one whole minute....that was weird, but fun. we all couldn't stop laughing! how was your day at work? are you having any fun right now? -

-
*ohhhhhh that IS a good rendition... that song almost always makes me cry!* heehee! i told you! isnt that so gorgeous?
-
my parents love the bourne movies and even my grandparents like them, but i cold never bring myself to love them as much....i just love to see Matt Damon!! cutie extreme! heehee! they are really violent, but i like the first one more b/c of the romantic twist to it, i didnt however olike the 2nd one, b/c they killed her off! how mean to take his love away like that. i couldnt believe it!
-
*What about Cats - did you like the songs?* Cats was always such an unteresting play to watch. but i really like the music in it. Memory is my FAVORITE song from that musical...such a gorgeous song! this is my favorite version of the song, she gives the song such emotion in her voice and it makes me cry each time i hear it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7IzxRsFjJE

i only have most of the soundtracks from the originals. i would have loved to see the original versions! oh would that have been a treat! Andrew Lloyd Webber is a msical genius! i looooove his music! the ones from my list i have gotten to see are Thoroughly Modern Millie, Will Roger's Follies, The Lion King, (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, both several times!) Mary Poppins, and i am planning on seeing many more! i hope i can see all the ones from my list on Broadway, granted i have seen lots of clips from some of them.

happy morning dahlink!!! heehee! *Bon soir, dahlink! I'm so sorry I took so long to reply. Seeing Debbie and her fellas singing* *that peppy song made me think you'd be perfect for her part if they were ever to put that* *show on Broadway.* oooooooooh!! i have always wanted to play that part on Broadway! Debbie did great with that part though, it would be hard to match her. its kinda funny, b/c when i was like 6 years old, momma, daddy and me were watching Singing' in the Rain with grandmama and grandpapa and i went to go get one of my little pink dresses on and i ran into the livingroom and broke out into this number.....they said it was quite cute.momma said i was right on que with debbie the whole time. okay i know you like broadway too, if i started another thread would you go make a list with me on the best broadway plays you've seen?
