  1. izcutter,

*Whoever was talking about their Grandma liking Laredo makes me feel really old.*

sorry, i didnt mean to! :)

    howdy dahlink!

*Excellent list, Texas Tea! I had no idea you were such a "Gunsmoke" fan. I'm loving*

*the early half-hour episodes they've released on DVD. I still have an unopened box set*

    *to go through.*

how could i resist James arness and Amanda blake trying to fall in love with each other, but never doing anything about it? heehee! i just wish they did!

*I've never seen The Texan nor Laredo. I'm amazed at all the shows I'm learning about.*

well i have only seen a few episodes of each and i liked them. i liked The Texan more than Loredo though, of the few episodes i have seen. it just looks better to me.

*I'm trying to think what the first of Olivier's early movies I saw---it was either Rebecca or*

*Wuthering Heights. I nearly fell off my chair when I realized it was the same actor! Of course,*

*I have to make one more confession: I had already formed a "crush" on Zeus. My kind of man.*

*Powerful. Unobtainable. And, of course, married.*

when i was little i was struck by his powerful nature, it just jumped at me too. it still strikes me! heehee!

  3. *lol! That movie scared me silly as a kid, too! I never forgot "Medusa" and her horrible look*

*that turned men to stone. I can think of a few I'd like to do that to, though. ha!*

heehee! i could think of a couple too...hey! this could be our new weapon against frankie. heehee!

Medusa always scarred me everytime my parents would watch that movie. and the scorpian dude too!

*Are we quite sure THIS isn't FrankGrimes?*

GASPS!! what if he is? what shall we do? we shall get Thethis,i think he name was, to curse him!

*I'm embarrassed to say that Clash of the Titans was the first Laurence Olivier movie*

    *I ever saw!*

dont be embarrassed, it was the first i saw with him too. my parents always watched this when i wasa baby so i grew up not knowing he was in other movies, until grandmama showed me Pride and Prejudice and i figured out he was the same person....actually she had to tell me, i actually thought he was Zeus...hey i was a little girl at the time! heehee!

  4. *There is no recording of which I am aware. I wish there were!*

    i second that notion!

*I've seen a ton more shows than I listed. They're just the ones that I consider favorites.*

well you have a fantastic list john! i would love to hear more about your show experiences.

  5. *Acck!! I nearly spit out my tea!*

you nearly? i did! goodness! talk about having nightmares!....angie what if thats the guy in my dreams?

*Gwynplaine looks alarmingly like Cesar Romero's "The Joker" from the Bat Man tv show.*

youre right dahlink! michaela said The Joker was based on him, so that makes sense....its so freaky how they really do look a like though. that smile just looks so dangerous! dont look straight at it.

  6. *Surely you are mistaken. I would never hold hands with that yucky boy. I?ve had my **** shot though so maybe it will protect me .*

good for you, but i dont want any shots! heehee! ill just try to protect myself with gary.

*It is crazy that we have so many of the same types of Gary dreams usually within a day or so apart, if not on the same nights. I still get tickled thinking about how we both dreamed he was our dad but neither one wanted to tell the other one. When you finally told me it made me feel better knowing I?m not the only one who may need some help from Dr. Freud .*

Dr. Freud? goodness me! i dont think he'll help, i think he'll just blame our mothers. heehee!

    *Which part do I get?*

do i really have to answer that!?

*No, fortunately you?re the only one around here who dreams about old Frankiefurter .*

yeah its too bad i havent had one where he's the bad guy yet. heehee!

*Seriously, I found much creepier pics of him but they were too bad and I didn?t want to be that mean. See, there?s the sweetness again Frank . Movie monsters today ain?t got nuthin? on old Frank, err I mean Conrad.*

i dunno, i'd say conrad looks a little more freaky than frankie. that smile could kill kittens just staring at them, the porr kitties! heehee!

  7. *How ya doin' this mornin', Theresa?*

im doing fine michaela, how are you today? :)

*It's Conrad Veidt in The Man Who Laughs. It was also the inspiration for Bob Kane when he was creating the Joker character for his Batman comics. I don't know why Angie thinks that what Frank looks like!*

i knew he looked familiar!!! now i remember, grandmama told me her opinion of him one time. she said she saw him in this one movie for the first time when she was younger and she got scarred by his face. heehee! the only movie i like of his is The Men in her Life... heehee! Lorettqa Young is in that one.

  8. *Crazy dream!! Here?s a question though, how come I got stuck with Frank?! That doesn?t seem fair.*

oh yeah did i mention you were holding hands when yall came in right as me and gary were kissing? heehee! actually i dont know if you got with frankie in the dream. wow! what a scene!

*I bet when I found him at home he was watching one of Gary?s movies and he was so engrossed I probably had to beg him to come with me to help look for you.*

well i dont know, he doesnt even like my mittens i made for him. he may want me dead for all i know. ;) ;) i hope frankie darlin' doesnt want me dead....after all i would never wish such a thing upon him either. heehee!

*Did you see the dream I posted yesterday where Gary saved me from being molested by this awful man at a bbq? It was scary but at least it was different for a change. I usually don?t have the damsel in distress dreams. If anything, Gary needs someone to save him from me .*

yes!!! i wanted to reply to that, but i thought you wouldnt believe my dream if i had. heehee! it shouldnt surprise me that we both have similar dreams almost at the same time, but i am surprised! heehee! that sounds like a scary dream too, almost being raped by a horrible man! its a good thing your part of gary was there to save you. heehee!

*Frank confessed that he was the bad guy in my dream but he tried to use the lame excuse that he just wanted some more bbq. I?m surprised I didn?t recognize him right away.*

was he really the bad guy? seriously, thats hilarious! of course he just wanted more BBQ, he always wants more, just like he steals all the Devil's food cake!

where did you find that really freaky picutre?....hey it looks kinda familiar actually. heehee! where have i seen that before?

  9. ang!

last night i had another dream where gary saves me and i havent had one of those in the longest time, i mean since the summer. but it was sort of different this time.....and you were in it too, and oh my goodness, so was frankie! i havent the foggiest notion why mr. grimey face was in it (just kidding heehee), but he was.

it started out when you and me were christmas shopping at this antique mall and i wandered off to this big section where noone else was and you were still looking in another section and i was bending down looking at something and right as i looked up, that man grabbed me, you know the man i told you about who i can never see his face in the dreams? you heard me scream before he put his hand over my mouth so then you started running down all the isles looking for me, and he took me out of there and brang me to his hiding place and tied me up, but on the way Gary saw him hauling me into his car and saw that i was in trouble and followed him......you went to frankie's house and told him to help you look for me, and in the mean tme, that guy pulled out a very large knife and held it to my throat and threatened me. he was looking for something i owned, and he wanted it, but i had no clue what he was talking about. gary found the building i was in and somehow mamanged to get in without being seen and he was watching me from a distance all tied up and that guy came in the room again and i didnt answer him so he slapped me so hard i fell over in the chair i was in and he pulled out the knife again, but before he he did anything, Gary jumped out from the shadows and knocked the knife out of his hands and punched him so hard, he completely knocked him out of it. heehee! he untied me and slowly picked me up in his arms and kissed me right as you and frankie found me. right before i woke up, i heard you saying, "who's the hunk?" heehee! it was rather funny, but the dream was so scary.

  10. *I've seen a lot of Broadway shows. My favorites are My Fair Lady, which I saw a few times, but I only like the Moss Hart productions. I saw it with Julie Andrews and Alec Clune, and Sally Ann Howes and Edward Mulhare. Also, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, with Robert Morse, Michele Lee and Rudy Vallee. Excellent show. And, even though they were all in the film version, as well, it wasn't as good. The film cut 1/2 the songs (most of Lee's numbers), and fooled too much with the Pulitzer Prize-winning script. Ragtime, 1776, Seesaw, No No Nanette and The Mystery of Edwin Drood are all musicals that I thought were superb. As for non-musicals, I loved The Miracle Worker (which was the very first non-musical play I saw on Broadway). Other favorites are Barefoot in the Park, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, The Belle of Amhurst, The Gingerbread Lady, Wait Until Dark, Noises Off, many more.*

    hey john!!!

i havent heard from you in a long while. how are you doing?i notived all the new julie andrews clips you posted on youtube.. i loooove all of them! i was listening to that julie andrews christmas CD you gave me last night and thought of you.

you have a great list of shows you have seen! i have heard about, The Gingerbread Lady, and The Belle of Amhurst a lot and would really love to see them! Barefoot in the Park is another good one, April also likes it a lot. i loved Sally Ann Howes in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and both me and my daddy loooove her voice .i always thought she had sort of a similarity to julie's style of singing, but of course julie's voice, i love more. unfortunately i wasnt born when they were playing the role of Eliza in My Fair Lady, but i have the record of julie in it. that would be loverly if i could hear sally singing some of those wonderful songs. do you know if they have a soundtrack of when Sally played in My Fair Lady?

  11. may i make a list dahlink?

    how about:

    1) *Gunsmoke*

    2) *The Virginian*

    3) *The Big valley*

    4) *The Texan* (grandmama always talks about this show from the late 50s and she had a few of the episodes on video tape. i havent seen them in a while, i wonder how many she is, ill have to ask her.

    5) *Laredo* (another one grandmama used to talk about with me.

"once i walked out on the streets of laredo.....laredo walk out on streets with me...la dee da!!" heehee! that isnt how th song goes, but if anyone has The Wedding Planner memorized, then you would know where it came from. heehee!

  12. actually *Sail Away* was a musical play by Noel Coward.

    Act I

    "Come to Me"

    "Sail Away"

    "Where Shall I Find Him?"

    "Beatnik Love Affair"

    "Later Than Spring"

    "The Passenger?s Always Right"

    "Useless, Useful Phrases"

    "Go Slow, Johnny"

"You?re a Long, Long Way from America"

    Act II

    "The Customer?s Always Right"

    "Something Very Strange"

    "The Little Ones? ABC"

    "Don?t Turn Away from Love"

    "When you Want Me"

"Why Do the Wrong People Travel"

i dont think *Sailing Along* is based on *Sail Away*, but it may be. i missed it when it was on TCM.

  13. *Are you forsakin'?*

im a gonna forsake a you ma darlin', but you have ta be nice to me first! heehee!

*Long black gloves also allow a woman to strangle a man and not leave any prints. How practical.*

now honestly, have you seen any women wearing black gloves that even look like they are going to kill a man?! i just showed you a picture of greer with her mother wearing long black gloves, do you see a man with her? no!

*They were both scared to fall in love with each other. They knew exactly what they were feeling inside. The timing was off for each, though. As one would follow their heart, the other would deny theirs. But "Amy Jolly" was in the wrong; she's a married woman. But she couldn't supress her love any longer. Ohh, those drums.*

i know they were, but i hated that they were so scared, i just wanted to be together so badly! i know she was married, and i hated that she was! thats just so wrong, i cried the first time i saw this movie, b/c she was married and i just couldnt hold it in any longer, b/c i wanted them to be togther for the rest of their lives, but they knew they couldnt.

  14. frankie think about this question really carefully and let me know what you think the answer is....

does this look like a psychopathic killer, b/c she's wearing long black gloves to you?

    1007A413.jpg?t=1226694384

helen wanted to tell you something.....

    littlemincap.jpg

  15. *Ohh, I get it. I see what you're up to you. You wish this for me:*

    thats not very funny frankie!!

on the other hand, it could be arranged.......

april i think we should get the ol' couldron out and get some glue and peanuts!

you posted this cap on purpose didnt you?

    theycametocordura4.jpg

youre just begging for my to give you a puppy doggy pout, why do you insist on posting the most intense scene of an intense movie with such great acting? i have to admit that i agree with you about this movie...gloria just shines with emotion with Bogie and shows her true versatility toward this role. i cant ever put my finger on exactly what i like about it, i just love it though.

    inalonelyplace3.jpg

  16. hey frankie darlin'!

*Because she knows she's starting to fall for him and that's TROUBLE.*

and you call ME a homewrecker for putting the ocean between me and my love? whats wrong with you? but you think marlene should make gary go away when they both know they are in love with each other?

    *Howdy!*

    howdy cowboy! heehee!

*Notice the long black gloves. That's never a good sign.*

excuse me! wearing black gloves makes a woman look very elegant and beautiful! does she have a face that kills in that picture? honestly!

  17. i forgot some of my favorites(musicals mixed with plays):

Anthony and Cleopatra(Helen Mirren and Alan Rickman)

  18. bonjour mon soeur joli!

*You Can't Take it With You (Kauffman/Hart)*

*The Man Who Came to Dinner (would love to have seen Alexander Woolcott in this)*

    *The Philadelphia Story (Philip Barry)*

    *Holiday (Philip Barry)*

    *Sabrina (Samuel Taylor)*

    *Private Lives (Noel Coward)*

*Barefoot in the Park (Neil Simon)*

GREAT LIST!!! i love those plays, especially The Philadelphia Story. i would have looooved to see Kate in the broadway production of that story! Noel Coward was a great playwright! one of my favorites! *Bitter Sweet*(operetta), *Words and Music*, *Sail Away*, and *Fallen Angels* are some of my favorites of his. i wouldnt mind seeing sabrina on the stage! oh my!

  19. *We Live Again is the only one I saw all the way through. I was very surprised by it. First, I*

*was happy to see the wonderful quality of the print---it looked pristine! At first I was a bit put*

*off by March's over the top acting in the early scenes, but then I saw the contrast of his subdued*

*(dead?) self as he aged and began sliding into stultifying class consciousness. It is a fabulous*

*story, one I'm surprised I overlooked when I was into reading Russian literature (Dostoyevsky's*

*"The Idiot" is my all time favorite). However, I felt I would have like to see what Frank Borzage*

*would have brought to this story. Mamoulian is a wonderful director, and there were some very*

*lovely moments, but I think Borzage would have been ideal.*

the overacting part is what i wasnt expecting from Fredric. i do like Fredric'c acting, but i am not really used to seeing him overact, well in my opinion anyway, so this movie sort of threw me off a bit too. i felt the same way as the story progressed, it made more sense, therefore i understood why it was being done.

you've read, "The Idiot"!? so have i believe it or not! about two years ago when i was just finishing my homeschooling, my mother made me read "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoyevsky, b/c she thought it would make my culture more well rounded and it was sooo deep but i understood it after momma explained some stuff to me and i became interested im his work. so i then read "The Idiot" too rather liked it too. my parents looove his books and have read most if not all of them.

*I have The Masquerader, Come and Get It, Nana and One Heavenly Night recorded and waiting*

    *to be watched.*

you recorded them?! good for you! i cant wait to hear what you think of The Masquerader especially.
