  1. hey dahlink! out of that list of the lesser known Samual Goldwyn movies that were playing last night, i saw a few i hadnt seen before! i simply loved them!

i got to see *We Live Again* and Fredrick March was so good in it! his performance wasnt what i was expecting, but i really liked it, but didnt like the fact that the girl goes to crime.

i have seen all the other ones except *Nana*, and i got to see that too. i loved the romance aspect in this movie! heehee! i love how she handled both of the men who fell for her. :) the only thing is that i couldnt record any of these. our hard drive is full right now. banana oil! heehee! so ill have to wait until they come on again to record them. it gives me something to look forward too. :)

*The Masquerader* is a really good movie, but i didnt get to se it last night. i fell asleep right as it started. but i love Ronald Colman in it. he is soooo handsome! i dont think he was ever ugly in any movie! of course he will always be cutest as my _Smithy_ in *Random harvest* though. heehee!

  2. april dahlink!

*Yes! We now have irrefutable proof!!*

We Have triumph! dahlink, break open the confetti!

    hey jackie!

*You know, as much as I love Marlene all dolled up in feathers and glitter, she looks her absolute loveliest in these captures you posted. The simple black draping her neckline makes you concentrate on her face, and expressions.....which show her to be a really good actress.*

i have to agree. marlen isnt my favorite actress, but i really dont mind her in Morrocco. she really does shine her loveliest in those caps. just look at those cheek bones, they are ever so loverly! what i dont get is why she wants gary to go! heehee!

  3. *I would love to have seen Gigi and My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison,*

*respectively. However, I am more partial to straight plays, and particularly comedies by the*

    *likes of Kauffman and Hart.*

    hey dahlink!

which of the straight plays do you like best? i love Kauffman and Hart too!

  4. hey bronxie!!!

*Saw THE REFORMER AND THE REDHEAD this afternoon -- it was fairly amusing thanks to a witty script, and a treat to see husband and wife Dick and June together. Powell has to contend with crooked politicians, his own integrity, Allyson's ranch menagerie, and remembering the name of Finland. Heavily New Yawk-accented Marvin Kaplan, as the low paid and overly articulate assistant, adds some un-Hollywood-ish "intellectual" zest, and David Wayne makes with the sophisticated wisecracks.*

Reformer and the Redhead is one of my FAVORITE movies with junie and richard!!! i will never stop laughing to that movie and my favorite scene is where richard meets the lion for the first time and hides behind the couch and then crawls ontop of the piano and backs into the corner shooing it away with his feet....thats the funniest part of the whole movie! i couldnt stop laughing for ten minutes at grandmama's house. of course i had the big case of the giggles when i was 6 years old when i first saw it, so it would make sense. heehee!

i love David Wayne in this movie. when momma saw him, she had remembered him from something else when he was a lot older, but couldnt think of it until the end of the movie...she had remembered him from a nancy drew episode from 1979. i was amazed!

i wish junie and richard were in a lot more movies together than just the few they were in. i love their chemistry together! its too cute that they were married in real life too.....AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! heehee!

bronxie, what were your favorites scenes?

  5. *I'm fine, thank you, on this rainy day. How are you? I had a couple of cuppas this morning.*

its raining in New York!!?? i wanna be there! i love when it rains, but it doenst rain as much as i want it to in Texas. i only had a couple cuppas today too. did you steal your bosses stash again? heehee! i stole some of my momma's earl grey. heehee! can you steal when the other person knows about it? heehee!

    *How is school?*

school was absolutely perfect today! i aced my math test today and i didnt even study until this morning. heehee! i completely forgot about it and worried for nothing, and for speech my teacher made me get up in front of the class and tell about my experience at ACC while making me stare at one person for one whole minute....that was weird, but fun. we all couldn't stop laughing!

how was your day at work? are you having any fun right now? :)

  6. *Have you ever heard the french versions of the Cats songs? You can hear a brief clip if you look up the CD on amazon.fr*

i have heard some parts of the french versions, but not much. i was looking to actually buy that french version soon. i really like all songs from the play though, not just "Memory", although its just amazing!

  7. *The romance was part of the charm of the first one, Scotchie, as were the locations..... very romantic.....*

i know! i loved those parts! i have the whole first movie memorized, b/c my parents watch it so much. goodness me!

  8. my parents love the bourne movies and even my grandparents like them, but i cold never bring myself to love them as much....i just love to see Matt Damon!! cutie extreme! heehee! they are really violent, but i like the first one more b/c of the romantic twist to it, i didnt however olike the 2nd one, b/c they killed her off! how mean to take his love away like that. i couldnt believe it!

  9. i only have most of the soundtracks from the originals. i would have loved to see the original versions! oh would that have been a treat! Andrew Lloyd Webber is a msical genius! i looooove his music!

the ones from my list i have gotten to see are Thoroughly Modern Millie, Will Roger's Follies, The Lion King, (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, both several times!) Mary Poppins, and i am planning on seeing many more! i hope i can see all the ones from my list on Broadway, granted i have seen lots of clips from some of them.

  10. i have always been in love with broadway plays and musicals, mostly musicals.

    here are my favorites:

    1) *Throughly Modern Millie* (Sutton Foster and Gavin Creel)

    2) *Mame* (Angela Lansbury and Bea Arthur)

    3) *Les Miserables* (Lea Solonga and lots of others on 10th anniversay version)

    4) *Phantom of the Opera* (Michaela Crawford and Sarah Brightman)

    5) *Anything Goes* (Pattie Lupone)

    6) *My Fair Lady* (Julie andrews and Rex Harrison)

    7) *Mary Poppins* ( my mother was in a production of Mary Poppins with my grandmother when i was a baby. heehee!)

    8) *Funny Girl* (Barbra Streisand)

    9) *The Sound of Music* (Mary Martin)

    9) *Drowsey Chaperone* (Sutton Foster)

    10) *Pajama Game* (John Raitt)

    11) *The Lion King*

    12) *Gypsy* (Angela Lansbury)

    13) *Annie Get Your Gun* (Bernadette Peters)

    14) *West Side Story* (Chita Rivera)

    15) *Will rogers Follies* (Lary Gatlin)

    16) *Fiddler on the Roof* (Zero Mostel and Bea Arthur)

    17) *Hello, Dolly!* (Carol Channing)

they are all in my heart forever, and so are the movie versions...well of the ones that were made into movies anyway. heehee!

*Bon soir, dahlink! I'm so sorry I took so long to reply. Seeing Debbie and her fellas singing*

*that peppy song made me think you'd be perfect for her part if they were ever to put that*

    *show on Broadway.*

oooooooooh!! i have always wanted to play that part on Broadway! Debbie did great with that part though, it would be hard to match her. its kinda funny, b/c when i was like 6 years old, momma, daddy and me were watching Singing' in the Rain with grandmama and grandpapa and i went to go get one of my little pink dresses on and i ran into the livingroom and broke out into this number.....they said it was quite cute.momma said i was right on que with debbie the whole time.

okay i know you like broadway too, if i started another thread would you go make a list with me on the best broadway plays you've seen?

  14. hey chris!!

*See, when you get my age the movies sometimes all run together. I do plan on seeing "Quantom of Solace." My daughter is anxious to see it so that gives us a nice night out.*

oh how loverly! well enjoy yourselves and let me know what your duaghter thought daniel craig...heehee!

*As far as the Bond girls go they had to become stronger or they would ha ve killed off half of their audience. I think it really started with Barbara Bach. She may have played the Russian spy but she was right there in the middle of things with Bond. They certinaly picked up with Brosnan's movies.*

yeah momma told me that she would have stopped watching these bond movies if they kept making the girls into "sissy wusses" i believe she used to call them. heehee!

*If you want an interesting conversation with your mother have her explain "dominatrix." Report back. I want to hear your reaction.*

i already did ask her and before she told me she kept pausing and laughing then said, "oh gosh, why do i have to tell you this?" i cant believe she actually told me and then she kept going about it............goodness, that was an interesting moment. my cheeks were blushing all the way to kingdom come. needless to say i didnt comment on that. i have the mental image thats not too pretty right now.

  15. hey barb!

*hey, theresa, you've got great taste if you love Donna Karan!*

thank you! i love her dresses! she has such a classy style of designing... i first saw her work when i was a preteen and couldnt wait till i got older to at least try one of her styles on....like i could afford her. heehee! but im still trying to find a store of hers somewhere just for the fun of it. i love her!

    is that not cute?!

    90181_1.jpg

*The first time I saw ABOUT MRS. LESLIE, I thought, way to go matronly plump-ish mature Shirley! -- doing the dirty deed with of all people Robert Ryan, who wants to be able to share some intelligent conversation and warm affection "afterwards".*

heehee! well shirley doesnt deserve robbie cutie. i think we should split him "afterwards"......oh that just kills me. heehee!

*I'd jump Coop even if he was in drag.*

thats too funny! go tell that to angie and see her reaction. heehee!

  16. *Okay, well if you don't want to share him then I'll just keep him all to myself .*

hey! back the gary trolley up here.....i get half of him too....heehee!

*I had another dream about Gary as Robert Jordan from FWTBT last night and it's the second time after getting a haircut that I?ve had dreamed about him that way. I guess it's b/c my hair is cut short kinda like Ingrid Bergman?s in the movie (but it does look slightly better - ha!). In this one I was back in high school and I was probably around Ingrid's characters age (about 19) and I was sitting around with some of my friends when all the sudden Gary comes in wearing his Roberto outfit. He walks past them and came right up to me and smiled and then picked me up and carried me away. Everybody else was jealous and I was so happy that he had picked me. Then the next thing I know we?re hanging out by some railroad tracks in the middle of the woods somewhere and he?s being real sweet to me and we start kissing and basically that was the rest of the dream. We?d talk a while then kiss a while, etc?. At one point we did have to hide underneath the railroad tressel from the bad guys or something and then we'd start kissing again.*

i was waiting for you to post another Gary dream! that one is cute, im jealous! i just had another one too, but i havent been able to get on the Gary thread to post it....my computer has been silly. heehee! so you were just in the middle of nowhere on a railroad track kissing gary? wow! im so proud of you, you actually talked to him this time!!

my dream was set in the 1800s, but dont worry ang, he didnt have a will kane outfit on, he had a melody jones outfit! yay!! my Melody was in it. i had on this gorgeous period gown that looked exactly like one that Greer wore in Mrs. Parkington oddly enough. i was a teacher and i was teaching some rnglish class when in walks Gary and he pulled me out of the small building and started hugging and kissing me, when my students were waiting for me....he asked me to marry him on the spot and i couldnt say a word....i didnt even ask him any silly questions! unfortunately i didnt even answer him i was so in shock and i went back in the classroom and told the students that class was out and i sat in my teacher chair thinking about it for the longest time until he barged in again and wanted an answer....i of course jumped up and yelled yes! then we kissed.....a lot and on the way to the church to get married i woke up.

  17. hey chris!!

*You two are a pair. Not that many women I know are big Bond fans. (Though my daughter is one) but you are a hoot swooning over Bond. I think the scene you refer to may be the opening of "The Spy Who Loved Me." That or "Moonraker." I think it was right before the big ski chase.*

i just grew up around my mother who loves Bond, so im used to him. heehee! call me bond butterscotch...heehee! okay momma just told me it was from "A View to a Kill"...i thought it was the one where Grace Jones was the bad guy too....i get some of them confused.

*Yeoh is tough but she doesn't kill people with her thighs like the nasty woman (Onnatopp.)in "Golden Eye."*

what do you mean the chick from golden Eye was tougher? banana oil! heehee! michelle yeoh was better! heehee! but i did like Onnatopp. i thought she was really strong.....isnt it interesting how over the years, they made the bond girls go from damsels in distress, to really strong women who could buttux? heehee! my mother just loves that. i really like Golden Eye though... thats one of the good ones with Pierce Brosnan.....momma siad she didnt like Onnatopp, b/c she was a "dominatrix" whatever that is....

*I am not so crazy about Daniel Craig, at least not up to now. But I've only seen his first 007 movie, maybe after 2 or 3 it will be easier to accept him, as he grows into the part. I also loved Michelle Yeoh, and of course Halle Berry as Bond girls.*

are you going to see Quantum of Solace?

*My favorite villains are Goldfinger and Scaramanga and my favourite henchmen are Jaws and Oddjob.*

i dont remember what the guy's name was, "but i was always scared of that one bad guy who had the hat he could throw at people and kill them, b/c it was super sharp or something. it may be one of those you mentioned......i think its Oddjob ifi remember right...that silly hat always gave me a fright.

  18. goodness ang!

*Dont' worry Gary, if she won't be nice to you I know several other girls who will .*

that means sharing sis! just in case you were wondering. heehee!

*i like The General Died at Dawn but it is a weird movie. The best way to describe it is strangely hypnotic.*

PERFECT DESCRIPTION!! i couldnt have said it better myself!

.....cute screencap, but where's the mouthful of onions? heehee! poor baby was abused by claudette. :)

  19. *You mean you didn't get the day off at school? Oh. Sorry to hear that, Theresa. My day's going fine. I am halfway thru a weeklong marathon of all the James Bond movies ever made. Do you like James Bond? I like him a lot but don't watch the movies very often. I wanted to watch every one again because there's a new one opening this weekend.*

i grew up watching every James Bond movie b/c my mother is obssessed with them. she can name every James bond movie there ever was plus the men who played him. personally i like sean connery best and pierce brosnan..i dont like Daniel Craig. he's not pretty enough for me, but thats just me probably. i like to pick on James Bond in front of momma when watching one, there is one particular...i forgot what it was called, but i remember the girl wasa blonde and the guy was roger moore and they were in a burning building and she screamed the weirdest way and now whenever i see james with a woman i say out loud, "JAMES!!! OH JAMES!!!" is a girly way....it always makes momma laugh up a storm.

my favorite James Bonds are *From Russia With Love* and *Tomorrow Never Dies*, b/c Michelle Yeoh is in it with Pierce! my goodness, she kicks some buttox. heehee!
