  1. *Well....it goes to show you that you cannot tell from where your Prince may come.* there never were truer words dahlink! heehee!
  2. hey bronxie! remember that funny squirrely geico commercial? kills me every time. heehee!
  3. april dahlink!!! *I'm so glad you had a good time, Theresa! Wow, it sounds like it was a lot of fun.* thanks! i did! congratulations on your 15 thousanth post!!! see how popular you are?! ......and many more. heehee!
  4. *Was Ariel a princess? If so, maybe she would be the one. If not, Cinderella.* of course Ariel is a princess! Angie (coopsgirl)'s favorite princess is Cinderella too! yay!
  5. i know, we all grew up with her as a little 2-D fairy in Peter Pan. heehee! itll be different. i dont think it will seem like the same Tink...or does it? do you have a favorite Princess? mine always has been and always will be Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast. heehee!
  6. oh it wasnt too bad. this morning on the way to school, a car was going the wrong way, heading toward me down the street,so i hit the brakes and stopped, but he was still coming at me so i swirved out of the way and spun around quite a few times before i hit the metal rail on the side of the road. the other car didnt even stop. im okay, ill live. heehee! i only have a bruised up knee and the leftside of my body is really hurting from hitting the door, but other than that im fine. i just need to rest, im really worn out from going to school while bruised up, but i didnt want to miss any classes. ill just watch some sappiness tonight with greer and darcy and then greer with smithy. heehee! *A "car accident" and a "heehee" in the same sentence. You have a dramatic flair.* i wouldnt be talking swasheroo-who always wants his rummy! heehee!
  7. *I think I watched The Swan Princess a long time ago. It was good, IIRC, but I liked Tinker Bell a little bit more!* i havent seen Tinker bell yet, but i really want to. i wanna take my little 7 year old cousin to see it, but i havent had the time yet. she really wants to see it too. is it really really cute? does it have a cute story line to it?
  8. hey kathy! long time so see! heehee! i miss our chats! *we've seen the commercials but so far she hasn't really shown too much interest. She is REALLY into Princess stuff...but not the fairy/pixie stuff so far. She's never gotten to see Peter Pan (yet)..I know...what kind of mom am I ???? So she's only seen Tinkerbell on T shirts at the store and such. Maybe will check it out...will have to see.* your kidling would get along really well with me! heehee! i would watch all those princess movies with her and enjoy every bit of them! heehee! have yall ever seen The Swan Princess? she would love it!
  9. i agree with you michaela! i wish they would release a box set for that series of versions to State Faire, and the the three versions of A Star is Born......oh my goodness! i would buy that in a heartbeat. *I wouldn't want you to bother on my account...* why not? i wouldnt mind doing it for a friend at all!
  10. *Yes I think I read somewhere that it wasn't a musical, but I still hope to catch it someday, hope they play it on FMC or release a DVD set or something. Obviously the '45 version is probably always going to be my personal favourite.* they have to release it soon on DVD! its a moral imperative! heehee! right along with Valley of Decision. heehee! i think that was always be my favorite version too. i thinik we might have a copy of the janet gaynor version. if i ask grandmama and she says yes, would you like a copy of it? Ann-Margaret was never a big favorite of mine, but i dont mind her in the 60s version. i really like that version b/c Alice faye plays the mother in it. i love any movie with Alice Faye. she was Grandmama's sister's favorite actress when she was my age. she gave grandmama this old book of Alice Faye's movie in it, and grandmama gave it to me when i was much littler. we love Alice!
  11. hey swasheroo/johnny on the spot! i sent your discs in the mail yesterday. your package is very colorful, i decorated it, so you should be able to recognize it. heehee! *What do mean mean, Helen! You girls have been doin' that since the beginning of time. You girls have the genes for it.* can you blame us?what a statement! i think Helen pulled it off perfectly. what a role model for other girls! heehee! *Hardly ever, you mean. Us guys have our ways but we are never as sneaky as girls.* no, guys are just more mean, us girls are more sneaky. so were even. heehee! guys can be sneaky too......didnt you see that scene where he acts like he is all broken up over the fact that Babbie isnt really a gypsy in her mashion, and then right before he walks out, he grabs her and dips her into a passionate kiss? who would have seen that coming!? sneaky i tell you, but thats okay, she enjoyed that. heehee! *But when that happens, it's usually just one of the two that's being outed, so to speak. And when it's the girl, it's really bad because she gets mad. When the guy finds out like that and then approaches her, she says, "Hey, not so fast, Buster." But our poor minister just got angry and then pouted and then got tricked into followin' her, and why? 'Cause Babbie has sneaky genes since the beginning of time to trick poor Gavin into doing whatever she wanted him to do. He never had a chance.* he wouldnt have followed her if he didnt love her! honestly, would you follow just some random girl you dont even like? no. thats a sign of him falling in love with her! he had a chance to stay inside and let her walk away from his life forever....but i dont think Babbie would have allowed that anyway. she would have come back in and said something else if she knew he was going to follow her. smart Babbie! heehee! *Well, I thought she was just some floozy Gypsy girl who just goes around and kisses any guy she sees. I thought she was gonna be a floozy Helen.* no, she saw love at first sight when she caught the eye of Gavin. heehee! that doesnt make her a floozy! so are you calling my greer a floozy for following smithy around? elizabeth bennet, for beating mr. dacry at archery? goodness me! *And this one:* *Gavin: "Is it possible to love someone against your will?"* *Babbie: "It's even better that way."* *...or something like that. Boy, she always had something to say. No superduperfraggywaggy word for her.* hey, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious wasnt discovered until after Babbie was born...see thats a good reason. heehee! and you call yourself my word speller! *johhny on the spotl. Hmmm, 'wonder where you got that.* i wouldnt know, im just an innocent gypsy who has lost her way. heehee! *Blue Remembered Hills and The Country Wife are on the same disc and I've just ordered it from Netflix. I like that poem you printed out, especially in advance of seeing the drama. I see sad ahead.* Here's a photo of Helen on Netflix. A nice big smile for you. they say it somewhere in the movie, so you can look forward to that. heehee! its a very interesting play. i have mixed emotions about Blue Remembered Hills. youll just have to see it and let me know what you think, and then ill talk to you about it. i love that picture of Helen! she has such a pretty smile! i think you'll laugh a lot to The Country Wife though. ill answer your other message later, i had a car accident this morning, so my body is really sore right now and i still have to go to speech class. heehee!
  12. *Hi Theresa!* hey michaela! *I'm still hoping to watch the earliest version of State Fair (the one from the 30's). I hope that FMC will play it again soon!* oh youll like it, but it isnt a musical. jant gaynor and will rogers did a great job with it, and their chemistry was real convincing! i like it! but not as much as the musical one with jeanne craine and dana. heehee!i just grew up watching the musical versions of every movie at grandmama's house. we love our musicals. heehee!
  13. *Somebody (I think it was FF) mentioned Dana Andrews in "State Fair" . He was in fact a trained singer. He thought he was going to be singing in the film, but the producers apparently didn't know about his talents. They had someone dub him. When Dana found out, in his usual way he didn't make a fuss; because he thought the guy dubbing him probably needed the money! Can you imagine that? What a nice guy!* hey iloveraymilland! i love Dana Andrews when he sings. i didnt know lots of people liked when he sang too. i love him in State Fair, but i wish they would have actually let him use his real voice. honestly! how could you turn down a guy like that?! but i cant really choose my favorite version of State Fair....i love all 3 of them. how can you pick between Janet Gaynor/Will rogers, Jeanne Craine/Dana Andrews, or Ann-Margaret/Pat Boone? goodness! i thoughtthey were all god, but i originally first saw the Jeanne Crain one with Dana, so i think i much like that one better.
  14. hey dahlink!! *How about 10 each? Or if that's too many, we can start with five?* okay, i already put my top 3. heehee! well for one anyway. that isnt cheating! *You know I'm with you. Whether it was shown in a subdued and repressed way or more directly as you say, I did feel like these two people also were lonely and needed someone, and since* *they spent the whole movie coming to understand each other it would not have been at all* *unnatural that they got together completely. But the filmmakers were probably feeling too* *pretentious and "arty" to go that route.* i think youre right. i think thwey considered making them get together at the end, but then thought that would make the story drift from the point maybe. but i still think i would have liked it more if they had actualy kissed and gotten married at the end! heehee! nevertheless, its a great movie with intense feelings. *Thanks for those pictures, ButterScotch! I like the top capture of Judy. For me,* *her most attractive quality is her limpid, raw sensitivity and this part exploits that* *quite well.* i think Judy got very pretty in the early 60s. her make-up was very impressive and made her look so gorgeous. its a great picture of her. but i personally think judy looked her best in the early 40s. i guess thats because all of myfavorites of hers are in that time period. heehee! i think people very underestimated judy in her dramatic parts of her movies. she was a VERY incredible actress and could do just about anything! i just love seeing judy in dramatic roles, b/c it really shows her versatility and this movie did a great job with that for her. although nothing beats her musicals. heehee!
  15. *Well, Theresa, it sounds like you had a marvelous Halloween, dahlink, glad to hear it turned out to be so spook-tacular.* thanks michaela! happy halloween to you too! BOO! did i scare ya? heehee! momma took pictures of my costume, so like i promised, ill post a couple soon.
  16. *So far we've had around 100 trick or treaters and it's only 8:30!!! Our house it always the hit of the neighborhood and this year is no exception. I got a new thing this year and it's a huge hit with adults and kids. It's a fog machine but the fog comes out inside of bubbles and when the bubbles pop it releases the fog. It's totally awesome!!!* hey sis!! i was gonna ask yu about that fog machine! im glad it worked! im surely it was so fun, and i cant believe you cooked!!! and you didnt tell me!!! heehee! did you actually form peaks this time? heehee! how did you make those brains? ewwwwwww!!! looks yucky to me but im surely you probably liked it. cubby went to grandma's house yesterday and put his darth mal costume on and his strobe light on and he put up this cute little display and they got probably as many kids as you did, maybe not as many though. all the kids apparently stood around strobe light with cubby while cubby sang *"In-a-gotta-da-vida"* out loud! oh my goodness!! heehee! it was supposedly the cutest thing to watch, grandma and papa had a fun time watching on their porch. i went to go see CARRIE UNDERWOOD last night!!! Austin City Limits had nothing on Carrie! it was undoubtedly the all time best concert i have ever been to! oh my goodness, im still too excited i got to see her live. me and Sarah were up front in the front row by the stage! Big Little Town opened for her.....Carrie walked right up to us and we both got smiles from her. yay! i took pictures on my phone, but they arent very good quality unfortunately. they had a laser light show there in mostly green lights! green! my favorite color, she has taste. heehee! and they had screens everywhere and she rose from under the stage during one of her songs and rose higher than the stage by like 6 or 7 feet while she had the most BEAUTIFUL dress on! at the end of the show, from both sides of the stage, loads and loads of orange and black confetti shot out everywhere! we knew some other people up in the balcony and even they got a lot of it. so i stuffed a lot of it in my purse for my scrapbook. heehee! i wasnt the only one who dressed up either. we saw an Elvis, a flapper girl, lots of vampires, witches, a michael phelps, which was extra interesting, and lots of others, my goodness, the place was full of costumes and plenty of cowboys, but they would have shown up anyway for carrie. heehee! i knew all the songs and just had to sing along to all of them. when we all got out of the theater, a humongous fireworks display went off ontop of one of the UT buildings..im guessing it was for halloween, and it was the prefect ending to a perfect day! it was just too wonderful!
  17. *Yes lists are what I'm hoping to see, dahlink! And I love your choices. I haven't seen* *What's Up Doc? since I was a kid, but I remember my parents loved it. I love your* *other two choices, especially The Tamarind Seed.* hurray! im excited!! i thought you would like that choice!!! heehee! okay your turn, how many should we go up to for each category? im still thinking of my other list. heehee! *My favorite dramatic Judy movie is A Child is Waiting. She is perfectly cast, in my* *opinion, for that kind of character. She relates so well to the children that I find it very* *moving. And the contrast between her and Burt Lancaster is in itself fascinating to* *watch.* you dont need to convince me! i have every judy garland movie! when i first saw *A Child is Waiting*, i was so moved by her performance, i wanted to see it again the next day.that whole movie moved me and made me cry multiple times. i thought the relationship between her and burt was interesingly matched. i thought she was perfect for the part too and she did a smashing job. i couldnt picture anyone else working so smoothly with those kids on that story. i just love it! but the only thing i would have changed in the entire story, was the end of the movie. they didnt exactly fall in each other;s arms at the end if you know what i mean! i wanted to see him grab her and kiss her to death and THEN the movie ends. sheesh! it didnt have enough romance in it that i wanted desperately to see between them. am i right dahlink?
  18. hey chris! *This one doesn't go back very far but Mandy Patinkin from "The Princess Bride" has one of the most wonderful voices. I saw him in concert and he specializes in standards and even early 20th century pop music. Very passionate approach to his music.* if you ever get the chance to listen to the soundtrack of the original Evita on broadway with Patti Lupone, Mandy Patinkin plays a major part in it and shows his wonderful voice! loverly choice chris! *Burl Ives can go in both categories.* i agree! i loved him in Rudolf the red nosed reindeer, and Summer Majic, married to Una Merkle. heehee! one of my very favorite disney movies!
  19. *I'd settle for just one, provided he was just like a certain actor who should have won the Oscar for '42 .* hey now!!! thats not fair!! take it back! heehee! you kow perfectly well, that walter AND smithy were just as good as gary that year in particular! *I have the Fever cd of hers, thanks anyway though.* freeeeaaaaakkyyyyyy!!??? heehee! *I finally picked out a costume and I'm gonna be a witch. It's a cool black and green dress with a neat witch hat that has feathers on it.* yay! i cant wait to see it! we both have to take pictures. heehee! are you gonna be margaret hamilton? heehee! okay in real life she was a sweetie pie, but on the big screen, look out!
  20. 23) how's this for a mary pickford? heehee!
  21. hey dahlink and michaela! i loved On the Beach with freddy! thats an abnormal freddy movie, but he was great in it nevertheless! what a great pic of him with ava dahlink! thanks bunches for it! *What are your favorite straight dramatic performances by a singer or musical comedy artist* *and can you also name a favorite performance by a dramatic performer who sang (and/or danced)?* can we make a list? please please?!! heehee! _dramatic performances by musical artists_ 1) Judy Garland in *The Clock*, which was her first straight dramatic performance and she did rather smoothly with the acting and if i must say so myself, i consider it one of her best! .....but not as good as her musicals of course. heehee! 2) Barbra Streisand in *What's Up Doc?*. this was a very cute comedy she did with ryan o'neal and is one of my favorites from babs' collection. 3)Julie Andrews in *The Taramind Seed*. i loooooovethis movie, it is so romantic and blissful to me. julie did an awesom job in this movie with omar sharif!
  22. 22) "i see the light ahead of me!" fingers pointing: "well go already!" "alright, but first let me fix my hair."
  23. hey sis! *I looked on Corbis for pics of Greer when she was really young, but couldn't find any. I thought you'd like these two though* thanks for those pics! i have always found that top pic so cute and amusing. so never see greer with blonde hair, so that picture is a treasure. heehee! too bad that scene only lasts about 5 seconds. *That's not fair, I can't get one date and she's got two .* heehee! its her oscar night though! okay it was all of their oscar nights, and they were all in the same movies together, which is too cute. they had to make her night special, b/c they knew she was to win the oscar. heehee! too bad neither of them won the oscar that night......or gary! dont start ang! that year is a tough one for me and you know it! besides, you could get more than 2 dates in one night if you wanted to. youre gorgeous and dont let anyone tell you differently! you never told me you liked Kylie minogue! i love her too! i have her Fever Cd, if you want a copy of it. cubby knows how to do all that burning stuff on the computer. heehee! he can show me. i ove that kylie song too. its among my favorites, and so is "love at first sight", "Fever", and "burnin up". heehee!
  24. *Thank you Theresa! I will, in turn, be outrageously happy for ya!* heehee! im deeply grateful! *uh-oh.* yeah always be on the lookout when....The Frankieness comes around. heehee! *It must be nice having a grandma like that!* yes i love both of my grandmama's!! *Better late than never?* wouldnt you like to know! heehee! *I remember the first time I watched Helen Mirren in a movie. It was the theatrical U.S. release of The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, and it made quite an impression on me. It's not an easy movie to watch, but imho it is worth watching.* i have only seen that movie on youtube. the whole thing isnt on there anymor,e i dont think, but it was. i couldnt really handle that movie, there was WAY too much nudity and the plot was so....weird. heehee! granted she looked absolutely ravishing in the movie with that red dress, but her husband treated her so badly, and then....just everything...ooh i got goosbumps kjust thinking about it. heehee! im more inclined to like helen's sappy love story movies, and her adventurous ones too. i like the comedy cutesie ones, but the ones she did with nudity i cant watch. or ill watch them, but oll fast-forward. heehee! dont tell frankie i fast-forward though. he'll get me for that. how did it make an impression on you? was it a good imression or bad? *So are you getting ready to go trick-or-treating?* i dont really go trick or treating. my parents were always so protecting of me and my little brother, so we never did that. but in my grandma's neighborhood, all the kids and their parents get on these huge trailors with flashlights and they come in groups and we get hundreds of kids coming every year there, so me and my little brother just go over their for halloween and hand out candy and chat with the neighbors. its fun! this year my little brother is dressinf up a Darth Mal....ew! but okay. heehee! im gong to carrie underwood's concert on halloween night though, so i wont be there. are you going trick or treating this year? what are you going to dress as?
