  1. april answer this for me, so FRANKIE can see it....do thye look snobbish to you? NO! thnak you. heehee! *Scotchie, did you see that Greer and Walter were on this morning in Scandal at Scourie and* *that they are showing several of Walter's films? If Winter Comes is on now and I wish I'd* *recorded it because I like it. I believe Paul Muni did an earlier version.* yes i saw that it was on this morning, unfortunately, i was getting ready for school. i wish i could have watched it. i just love them in this movie. they are in technicolor and truely in love....again. heehee! this is one of the ones i particularly favor, b/c it really shows their relationship throughout the movie along with adopting a little girl outside their religion, and then it is tested from the people in their town getting on their case...tsk, tsk, thats horrible. i thought it was sweet, they adopted her! to see the lok on greer's face when she did.....aawwwww!!! i knew paul muni did an earlier version of If Winter Comes, but i havent seen it in a while. i think, if im not wrong, gramdmama has a copy of it in her library, but i have to ask. but i dont exactly remember if that was it or not. now i have to do it, or else it will bother me. heehee! i didnt particularly like If winter Comes though, they make Walter out to be this bad person when he really isnt in the movie, falsely accusing him of things. i just didnt like it, it made me too sad, but i still respect the movie, b/c it was put together with great hands and there is great acting by walter, janet leigh, and deborah kerr. i thought they made a cute couple, but i think he was paired better with greer....my opinion of course. heehee! i just think they were one of the cutest couples around!
  2. frankie-i-never-lie-furter!!! *I really like that one photo of Smithy getting ready to strangle Paula with the* *necklace. That's my favorite scene!* you looked at the picture and saw hat in their eyes!! you need glasses frankie, not trying to be mean or anything. heehee! seriously, though, look into their eyes, they are so in love they dont even know it themselves! "charles" gave her that nacklace for a reason, he loved her, he just wasnt surely why he loved her so muhc. he knew he loved her that much for a reason... this is why he sough out that reason by going back to the asylum to trace his steps. so there! dont ruin my philosophy, i worked hard on it. heehee! *Your nosey is growing.* yeah? well your pants have too many holes from catching on fire! *Say what? You can't find a trashier film than Pride and Prejudice. It's filthy.* "silence in this case, would have been more agreeable." ~Elizabeth herself. heehee! no, they are clean, its your pants that are filthy. heehee! *First off, stop talking to the pretend doll. It's bad for you. Secondly, films like* *Pride and Prejudice teach young girls to be snippy snobs. That's not cute.* dahlink, april is not a pretend doll! she is real! and she will summon the ephalents to trample you if you think otherwse...ill get the caramel! thats right, you better be scared!! heehee! second of all, P&P is not a trashy film fit to teach girls snobbery! that happens to be false accusation. it is about not judging your future husband before you kiss him. heehee! not really. its much more than that, but in this case, especially in that picture, Elizabeth is being snobbish, b/c she has too! she is telling him the way it is and the snobbish way he was being toward her and her sisters, even thought he did so inadvertently, so there! THEYRE IN LOVE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! they must at least practice communicational skills. heehee! i love watching that scene and repeating every line she says to him.......he needed a good talking too....like a frankie i know around here... 3. *Hey Theresa, Thanks for the birthday message. My daughter bought me a chocolate birthday cake, and we had dinner at Applebee`s. My son gave me a new dvd vcr combo player. Today my daughter gift to me arrived from Amazon. You know that the first movie that I will be watching from the Tyronne Power dvd set is Cafe Metropole, followed by Love Is News and Second Honeymoon. We never can watch too many Loretta movies.* your quite welcome Maureen!! i have another friend who's name is Maureen and her birthday is coming up in November. how was your dinner at applebee's? did you get Dessert? what a question! heehee! are you having fun with your new DVD player? my momma stil has fun with her DVD player, goodness knows she's recorded more stuff! heehee! whatever could give a person such an idea as too much Loretta movies.....no such thing of course! heehee! i still havent seen Second Honeymoon....i will look forward to eventually getting that box set. you will loooooove Cafe Metropole, though...it is such a cute movie! tell me what you think, okay. im glad you had a wonderful birthday!!!
  4. *Well, that probably didn't make grandmama feel very good, did it? Maybe she said to him, "Okay, we'll go her movies and you can look at her, but not too much. Now and then you have to turn your head and look at me."* actually she didnt mind very much, because next to Junie Allyson, Loretta Young was also one of her all time favorites back then....still is. heehee! she thought it was rather romantic, but i think she did tell him not to drool too much....i think the whole situation is just too cute! i love my grandparents! heehee!
  5. *That's so funny! I like your teacher, he's very wise.* yeah he's a fun teacher!
  6. april, its too funny! im speech class we were talking about Communication as usual and the subject of communication between males and females came up and my teacher had a slide show going and he put this picture up there of a couple kissing to show us how every argument should end (in his opinion) and i just said, "aaawwww! thats so cute!" and i didnt mean to say it out loud and he looked at me with bug eyes and said, "there you go class, its cute!" we all started laughing, it was too cute!
  7. youre right! ugh! i cant believe i even mentioned that movie in the same sentence with poor greer...im so sorry greer! forgive me! heehee!
  8. *Anything that Greer Garson wore looked 100 times better on her. OK, I'm exaggerating, but only very slightly.* no! no!! youre 100 % right Michaela!! of couerse im surely you would look just as pretty with those dresses on too!
  9. *Must be! He hasn't even posted in Professor ChiO's "Voyeurism class", so we must be winning* *him away from the "dark side". I bet he's been too busy watching Pride and Prejudice.* he must be watching Pride and Prejudice...our frankie wouldnt want to watch anything as bad as watching No Country for Old Men. such bloodiness! such treachery! i mean really! if you had to decide between these two movies wich one would you watch? sarously, everyone knows what the answer to this question is...Pride and Prejudice of course! heehee!
  10. swasheroo!! *Actually, I may just believe you. Do have any Loretta-grandpapa stories that you care to share with the group.* i just always watch loretta movie withgrandmama and grandpapa will come into the room and sit in his recliner and watch them with me and her and later into the movie he'll tell me something he remembers from high school at times...its too cute! one time i was watching her in Cause for Alarm with Barry Sullivan and he pointed to the screen and said, "that was my girlfriend in high school!" me and gramdmama both looked at him at the same time and said, "yeah right." grandmama was his girlfriend in high school....it turns out he was planning to committ bigomy and marry both of them.heehee! not really, he was being funny, but he had a huge crush on her when her show used to be on TV and he actually took grandmama to the theater to watch her movies for dates....
  11. is this cute or what?! Loretta made her sixtieth "personal appearance" over enemy-occupied Europe, but they've all been "proxy" trips. The Loretta Young who's soared over Hitler's land, raining bombs and destruction on military objectives, is a Ninth Air Force B-26 Marauder, which the actress autographed back in the states.
  12. *Maybe it should be called the coup de grace...* youre funny jackie! we should christian it that! Message was edited by: butterscotchgreer
  13. hey chris!! *Maybe more so a coup de Loretta.* heehee! thats cute! ill have to use that one later, with your permission of course. *We must doing something right because he hasn't been fighting back too hard lately, I guess* *we are wearing him down at last!!* i second that! maybe all those peanuts, caramel, glue, chocolate, and ephalents are working!! *Maybe he'll finally surrender and admit how much he adores Gary, Greer, Duke and Pappy.* i highly doubt he will admit to that, but miracles never cease around this place. heehee!
  14. *He should be tortured! Did you see the awful things he said about poor Smithy* *in the Film Noir forum? Tisk, tisk. I did my best to defend him.* yes! i always try best to ignore him, but i cant help it, i HAVE to defend my Smithy! its a moral imperative. if greer is the only one, frankie will start making fun again and we cant have that! *I love that dress Greer wears in the necklace scene. That shoulder-gracing neckline is* *so flattering, it's one of my favorite movie gowns.* that one and the Gilda dress right. heehee! its one of my favorites too! its just too flattering on her!
  15. hey jackie!! i know that picture just brings tears to my eyes. heehee! smithy(even though he doesnt know it yet) just looooves her!
  16. let's see, i dont believe i have contributed to the torturing of frankie today...... see greer thinks youre annoying too. heehee! just kidding, you know i think youre sweet.....most of the time.
  17. im definitely gonna buy a few sheets of the gary stamps...i cant wait! this is so exciting! and i thought the frankie stamps were beautiful. heehee!
  18. HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY!!!!!! im so sorry Maureen! im surely you look just beautiful! what did you do for your birthday?
  19. *Having seen FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF the other day (one of my favorite 80's movies; I'm a John Hughes fan) and remembering Jennifer Grey's hiliariously frustrated and angry character, I was inspired to repeat her stay-away-from-me-line to Old Mr. Laundry:* *"By the way, I have a scorching case of herpes".* i cant stop laughing to that!! i love this movie too barb! heehee! my family uses lines from this movie almost weekly. its pathetic. "when Cameron was in Egypt's land....Let my Cameron go!" heehee!
  20. *I felt more drawn to the characters in the remake and in Boyer's case,* *finding him attractive in the beginning added to the hypnotic nature of the proceedings.* i think the same can be said for every other girl out there. heehee! the moment he steps on scene in the beginning, his presence really captivates the entire audience with his very proper standings.
  21. good afternoon frankie! at least we agree on something. heehee! im rather attracted mostly to Boyer's performance as Gregory. he was just more suave, even for a mean character, and boy was her mean about it....of course that might have been partly because of the script, but that gives him no reason to act so vicious toward poor ingrid. my favorite addition to the Boyer version of Gaslight, is the fact that they placed Beautiful Angela Lansbury in the role as the cockney, and saucy parlour maid. she was just my age when she started filming it, well 17 but quickly had her birthday and became 18 and she was just striking and carried out her character with so much mystery and fire! Joey Cotton is another one of my favorites, but the first time i saw this one, i thought her was sort of out of place, but the more times i watched it, i couldnt picture anyone playing the part oddly enough. heehee! well anyway, he's very handsome in it.
