  1. *Do you remember the business with the bread balls? Omar tells her she has to bake these little*

*bread balls, I forget why, something to do with magic or a wish coming true and she does it but*

*all the time she's so mad at him because he teases her. They're so cute together. I love Sophia*

*best when she gets mad, she's so funny!*

heehee! very vaguely, but yes sort of. i do remember something about the bread balls, but not all of it. i only remember a few scenes from that movie. one of those bread balls scenes always sticks out in my mind when i think of this movie, but i dont remember the whole scenes. i DO rembmer her getting really mad a lot at him though. i love when she gets mad and throws those fits in Housboat. she makes me laugh when gets mad in that movie a lot.

  2. *I certainly will, I'm very anxious to see it after hearing so much about it. I know I'll be impressed,*

*I do like the stars and the director, Anthony Mann.*

of course it is good...anthony mann always made great movies! i dont think he ever made a bad movie. he's definitely one of my favorite directors. he has made some of the best movies in the business. maybe we should make an anthony mann list! yay!

  3. *I just know I'll have to be prepared before I watch it. I've heard for years how affecting her*

*performance is and I fully believe I'll be balling all over the place.*

oh yeah! you better be prepared all right. before i watched it, i told myself, that i was going to cry, i wasnt going to cry, but surekly enough it was niagra falls almost through the entire movie. oy!

*Oh! I totally forgot to mention one of my favorites! It's called (in the U.S.) More than a Miracle*

*and stars her charmingly with Omar Sharif. It's a twist on the Cinderella tale and it's so*

*sweet and imaginative and whimsical. TCM sometimes airs it, I wish I had it recorded.*

oh my goodness! i completely forgot about that movie! i LOVE that one! i feel ashamed of myself for that! unfortunately i dont have a copy of that either....maybe grandmama does, she has everything. heehee! ill just have to ask her. i dont think i have seen that movie since i was like 8 or 9. i remember loving it! because of course it had Omar Sharif and she showed it to me, b/c i absolutely loved him in Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand.....yes whimsical has to be the best word to describe that movie. i cant think of a better word at the moment.

  4. *I just love both of the pictures you posted, T!*

i know, those two are some of my favorites of her....they show her more "sweet" side. i like that in her personality more so than her "naughty girl" side. but thats just me. heehee!

*Have you ever seen her in The Millionairess?*

well i have seen that one to an exctent. i havent seen that one all the way through. i have seen about 75% of the movie but when i was watching it, i had to stop it to go to a friend's house and never got to finish it, and completely forgot about it until just now. i feel terrible about that. unfortunately i dont have my own copy of it, so i cant put it in my trusty little DVD player and watch the rest of it. im gonna have to wait until it comes on TCM again.

  5. *Golly moses, T! That makes three movies you've seen with Sophia that I haven't. Two Women,*

*Desire Under the Elms and El Cid. El Cid is in my netflix "queue", though.*

goodness! youre still the expert! heehee! knowing you, i think you will like both Desire Under the Elms and El Cid. they are both great movies made beautifully. will you let me know what you think once you have seen El Cid? im so anxious!

  6. *I haven't seen The Lady L from start-to-finish in ages, but I do remember she looked sensational*

she always looked sensational in her movies. i remember seeing her carrying the American Flag into either the opening or the closing ceremonies of the Olympics one year. i forget which year it was, but when she walkd in with all those other famous people carrying it, i thought, "hey, i know her! wow! she has aged amazingly well!" its true, she is still beautiful. Lady L, is a very interesting movie of hers. i didnt like it all too much the first time i saw it at grandmama's house, but as i watched it more, i started liking it more and more and pretty soon it became one of my favs of hers.

*Two Women - yet another one you've seen that I haven't! I wouldn't be surprised if this is the*

*one Frank would like the best.*

heehee! it probably is his favorite of hers. but it isnt a fun movie to watch. if you watch it, expect to cry or at least be very sad. i would just say she looks gorgeous in it and the acting is phenomenal. i would have to agree on her winning the Oscar for it now that i have actually seen it. heehee!

  7. great list of sophia films april!!

my list of hers comes pretty close to yours.

    1) Arabesque (i absolutely love the chemistry with gregory peck and her, they make such a cute and funny couple. even though he gets so confused by her character so many times. heehee)

    2) Houseboat ( her character is so carefree and makes cary let loose a little bit. she did such a great job with that role and i loved her dresses. heehee!)

    3) Lady L ( dont ask me why i love this movie so much, b/c i couldnt begin to explain it. heehee! grandmama got me hooked on this one)

now i recently saw Two Women, and i was holding out on this movie, b/c i didnt want to see sophia get raped and it just looked like such a depressing movie, but when i saw it, i couldnt believe how well her acting was in it. oh my goodness, hjust how she reacted to the whole situation was beyond me. that scene in the car where she starts to cry started to make me cry!! it was so sad. now i wouldnt add this to my main sophia likable list, but i have to admit that she certainly did an amazing job with it.

  8. *Theresa, I don't think you saw this one yet---I posted back in the Ford thread a week or two ago.*

*It's a tea party on the set of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (the two with their backs to us*

*are John Ford and his assistant, Meta Sterne).*

no i didnt! jimmy looks so cute!

i cant believe they had a tea party! how cute! im so jealous! okay we'll just have to invite all of them to our tea party. oh and dont forget to kidnap frankie and make him our butler again.....

  9. *I just love his tousled hair! It makes him look so boyish and I'm not used to seeing him that way.*

thats one of the first things that caught my eye when i first saw those pictures. i just love his early early movies with him as a cutie skinny boy with the touseled hair....again the with frankie look! heehee! how adorable!

  10. *Beautiful pics, Miss T! I posted a large version of that super cute one a page back, but I've copied it over to torture Frank with.*

well then ill just have to go and see it, and rave about it in his kenny like face. heehee!

*I should be renting The Big Trail via the mail next week; I look forward to seeing it again, I've forgotten most of it and these pictures certainly are inspiring.*

oh wow! we should watch it together over the phone or something when you get it. that would be so exciting! if not, youre gonna have to post a review of it and then i will after you. heehee!

  11. HOLY JOE! and knock me off my chair, would you look at this beautiful pic of the Duke as such a young cutie pie in The Big Trail? i think ill post his on the torture thread.

    John-Wayne---The-Big-Trail--C101040.jpg

  12. oh my goodness! i love the big Trail. that one iis in that new John Wayne Essential box set i just got......i had to watch that one first...heehee!

post more pics pretty please! ;)

he was so handsome in that one and his character was so...charismatic. i love thos characters of his especially, b/c whn i think of the Duke, i dont usually think charismatic, i think something along the lines of.....fiesty, and romantic, very full of control, except when he lets the women whip him into shape.....funny, i wish a certain frankiefurter would let us girls do that. heehee!

  13. oh my goodness! i love the big Trail. that one iis in that new John Wayne Essential box set i just got......i had to watch that one first...heehee!

  14. *Bonjour, again, Miss Jackie-in-the-Box (pops in, pops out!). Did you see my pictures of*

*young Duke Wayne in the Western Gallery?*

oh my goodness! no i havent seen them yet. the internet i have at home is so slow that i dont go in many threads, but im at grandma's house with faster internet now, so ill go look.....

*If not...I could always post them here...for TORTURE to someone...*

....or you could always post them here! heehe!

i saw that you liked my greer pics as torture to a certain someone! heehee! shall we have a tea party? we'll have to invite the Duke, since youll be posting him anyway. ;)

  15. dahlink april!

*Bonsoir, petite dahlink! Nice to see you back! And merci beaucoup for the package, I can't wait*

    *to get it!!*

yes im back!! sorry i left early last night, my silly computer was acting up again. itll never happen again, i promise! or ill try. heehee! when you get the package you have to tell me what you think.

bonjour mon meanie frankie person! heehee!

*Who is that speaking? Is this the ghost of Greer past?*

that is so cold, its not even funny! but im giggling anyway. heehee!

its me, princess belle, you do remember me dont you? pretty please with puppy doggy eyes!

*is one of my favorites too...i thought one of these enchanting pics had to make you feel all mushy...did it work? i think so!!*

    *It worked!*

"well honk my ****! you do speak english, you big faker!"

*Yes, but others needed to see you wanted to hit me and make me cry. More proof of just how horrible an influence Greer Garson has been on you.*

now sarously, darlin', do you really think greer of all people in the world would place a bad influence upon me, the innocent sweet little teenager. honestly, think about this for one moment. heehee!

*Let me get this right, you have decided to turn invisible so that you can go around kissing girls? This is not good. More bad influences.*

okay, first of all...........that's not right! and anywhere in her movies, do you see greer kissing another girl? goodness, just the thought is making me want to faint, falling backwards......second of all, there is no way on this earth i would even think of kissing another girl.......ewwww.

*I never heard of Katy Perry until you provided that link. I liked what I heard.*

oh yeah katy perry is apparently really out there right now with her number one hit, "i kissed a girl." i dont like that song, but i like her voice.

*If you felt like crying, you must have been watching one of the many Greer films where she intentionally rips the heart out of a man.*

NO!! greer is too sweet, she would never do such a horride thing like rip the heart out of her man. just because she left to go over the ocaen without him, doesnt neccessarily mean she ripped his heart out. she knew it was for the best and they couldnt be together at that time. i mean really, they got together at the end! trust me, if they hadnt gotten together in the end, i wouldnt like the movie as much as i do, and you know that. :)

  16. bonjour mon pirate!

*Not so funny, Butterscotch darlin', I used that example on purpose 'cause I KNOW that you get that particular newsletter every day. No, I am not psychic; no, no one told me; no, I did not eavesdrop...I know because you give it away everytime you play a certain game over in GENERAL DISCUSSIONS. Get it?*

oh yeah! i forgot, i just love playing that game...it always takes me a couple minutes to think up a really good hard word to display. heehee! but its so fun to see what people respond to them. but i still think your psychic.

*ah! but can you spell, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious? heehee!*

    *Heavens no!*

*i bet you havent even tried.*

*Nor am I gonna, thank you very much!*

well fiddle-dee-dee to you too! ;)

*quelle dommage for those poor pirates. you'd think they might plan surprise attacks better with a little learnin'. heehee!*

*We pirates are so fearsome we don't need no stinking surprise attacks. Don't you watch the History Channel, for Heaven's sake? Most ships back in the Age of Piracy just gave up when they saw the Jolly Roger. That's why pirate are so jolly, and a ho ho ho heidy hee. (I think you oughta get away from them sappy gary and darcy movies and get some eddication 'bout the high seas on the History Channel)*

yes as a matter of fact, my parents watch the Histroy channel all the time, almost every day, and i watch it with them when i see something interesting. my mother absolutely goes ga-ga over pirates, so whenever the history channel has a special for pirates, we HAVE to watch it....its almost as bad as the Olympics in our household. heehee!

i just like to use my imagination with pirates to make them really sappy and fun to plan surprise attacks on.

*You mean you and I can go off into the sunset at the end? Boy, how about those for lucky stars! I better practice my Shakespeare and my swordfightin. 'Course the redoubtable Marquis Grimieux de Frankfurt might have something to say about that. (Monsieur Grimieux will make a good villian, but what else can you expect from a Cowboy fan)*

boy will he ever! i could just see him now fightin you and losin and goin "im dead! im dead!" and falling to the ground in turmoil. the poor baby! heehee! and then i can live happily ever after without him picking on me! heehee!.....and of course when my prince charming rides up on a white horse to come carry me away to his castle.....hey i can dream cant i? it happened to princess belle didnt it? ;)

*You call that evil? You'd make a lousy villianess, you're too sweet for all that evil talk. You're more of hee-hee girl than muwahaha-muwahaha girl.*

you mean you cant see me with my long black gloves strangling frankie? well would you put that mind set into his head for me please!? honestly!

*It sounds like you might go from ButterscotchCampie to ButterscotchvVampie. Move over, Theda.*

hey! i take offense at that....remember? im the sweet innocent girl who laughs too much. keep that in mind silly goose! heehee!

*Okay, we'll let you faint six time in a row, no more. Actually, we've changed our mind. We pirates want you to have both your eyes so you can watch pirate movies and pirate documentaries on the History Channel (and, okay, maybe a few Gary and Darcy movies too , but not too many.*

gee, how henerous of you to let me have both of my eyes....honestly! just watching gary and darcy makes me faint, didnt you know? heehee! they are so beautiful. oh no! i hope they didnt hear me. they might get mad! heehee!

*Uh-oh! I think we have the return of Butterscotchcampie. Move over, Bette and Joan.*

wow! i dont belong in the same category as bette of joan...but thank you. ;) you know i always wanted to be dramatic when i grew up. heehee!

*Gosh, that seems an awfully difficult word for the first round. My word came up a later on and it's sure a lot simpler than yours. If I had gotten coruscate I probably would have fainted.*

yeah i thought that too when they gave it to me. heehee! im amazed i didnt faint right there in front of my whole school. but in the 6th grade i wasnt as wimpy as i am right now. heehee!

*dont ask me how i still remember all that*

*How did you remember all that?*

    cute darlin, i dunno.......heehee!

*someone might make a greer purse....someday....okay so chances are slim, so i might just have to make one myself. heehee!*

*If you do, take a picture of it and post it.*

    i promise! :)

*Everybody love linus, which is more than you can say for that eternal fussbudget of all fussbudgets, that fussy ole Lucy Van Pelt who's goin' around fussing all the time ad infinitum and won't even let Charlie Brown kick the football. That Lucy should be in the movies 'cause if she were she would be number one on my fussbudget list. (Yeah, I know, I'm obsessed with fussbudgets, I don't care)*

well i always thought lucy was mean to poor linus and charlie brown. linus will always be my favorite. he is too cute with his little thumb in his mouth holding his blanky.

honestly, you and your fussbudgets...you and lucy make a cute couple....not that im saying youre a fussbudget. heehee!

*No, you just lug the i love lucy (the other fussbudget) purse all over the place (oh, no, not that again...don't answer this answer 'cause I've think we've covered the purse thing ) so you've just replaced one obsession for another. You goilies are really obsessivabobble about beaucoup stuff. tsk! Oh well, you have yore poises and I have my fussies (as in budgets).*

we do not get obssessive. okay maybe we do.....but only a wee bit. heehee! but thatd our job right?

*La vie est belle! And I have you to suggest big words for me to spell, like superfragislicabobblewhatever what is way to difficullable fer a swashie-headed plundererer like ole Laffite to contemplatabobble*

what a mouthful that sentence is.....goodness! i dont think i comprehended all that. heehee! and it is spelled....supercalifragilisticexpialidocious silly. get it right!

*Are you referring to Man of La Mancha? I'm not even sure I've ever seen it. I like my Don Quixote without the singing. The reading, the Romanticism, The gallanterie, the knight-errancy, the sweet Dulcimae, even the windmills...but no music please.*

yes, thats what im referring to. i love Don Quixote! but you cant leave out the singing. the singing is the most vital and important part! my goodness! i couldnt live without singing.

*Tis Chivalry, my good lady, not mere magnanimity. O Chivalre, thou art not, in the gross and scope of our modern world, a stranger to us after all.*

loverly put my shakespeare fellow man......yet you say potato, i saw potato (okay that sounds better face to face, but you get the drift) heehee!

*And he would do so, most assuredly. At least if we can believe his movies. But of what today, where are our heros?*

there arent many heroes of today to be proud of in my eyes..... at least not ones with enough class and gallantry to suit me. you could will turner, or spider-man, but there will never be heroes as special as those who displayed their courage on the silver screen as the duke or gary or robbie ryan or any of the other wonderful heroes.

  17. *Yayyy!! Thank heavens, you're just in time! Imagine him posting a picture of me burping. How indecorous!!*

i know!! can you imagine him posting that about you? honestly! he obviously needs some improving in his manners! ;)

so how have you been dahlink!! by the way, i mailed your BIG package today in the mail, so you should get it by at least friday or saturday. i hope you like it....its decorated all pretty for you!

  18. okay kenny boy i am! to save poor swet april from your agonizing meanness!!

*Greer Garson?! She's trashy! All that gal does is teach young impressionable girls to hurt guys. She's a horrible homewrecker and she's quick to seek annulments. Such values.*

oh really? wow, what an active imgainatiom you seem to lead. heehee!

*I actually LOVE the pic of Greer in front of the fire. That is one of the best photos I have seen on this board. The look in her eyes, the dress, and the setting is enchanting. The fire truly is burning.*

is one of my favorites too...i thought one of these enchanting pics had to make you feel all mushy...did it work? i think so!!

So you want to hit me just to see if I cry? You've been talking to Kimmy Kurtains WAY too much. I'm definitely a toy, though.

*I was checking out Katy Perry's other songs, and, shockingly, I like them! I like her voice, her sound, and what she sings about. I like these two songs:*

gee, thanks for posting those lyrics. honestly frankie! i already knew what they said.....im kind of afraid to mention it, but one of the server ggot me into katy perry so i went out to buy her CD. its so different than everything else i have, but i just love her music.....although that song, "i kissed a girl" really isnt a good song. i can never get used to hearing that one. it kind of makes me sickening, but i like her other songs.....greer would probably be insulted at the mention of me liking m,usic like this, but i just would like to say that i am so sorry!!! i am so sorry greer that i like this, HELP ME!!!!! okay im good, i just had to get that off my chest right now. heehee!

*As we kind gentlemen like to say, "sappy Pappy is crappy!" He makes Greer Garson seem heavenly, which is saying a lot.*

hey, that sappy crappy stuff is really good for you!! if you dont believe me, ask greer herself! she'll tell you that sappiness in the world is very relaxing and wonderful....it just makes you wanna cry!....i felt like crying yesterday....but thats another story in itself. heehee!
