  1. *Bonjour Mademoiselle!* bonjour mon pirate fabuleux!!! *Probably a minor spoiler but you should know that Helen does not have a real big part in this movie. What we see of her is certainly very fine, though.* i know!! i read all about it. i cant believe they made her....well you know what as i cant spoil it for other views...i just cant believe it! i need to see this though, i have screen caps from a friend and she looks gorgeous in it...dont you think so laffite? *If you saw Room with a View and liked it, you may like this one. It's in the same vein. Angels was aired once on Masterpiece Theatre, so that's another clue. However, I wouldn't call this movie a stuffy old English drama. It's a very good story.* yes i have seen a Room with a View. it is a very nice movie and i dont mind master piece movies. i have seen qwuite a few of them.....it seems you grow more towrds the old english movies set in victorian times or at least in a historical sense. of course with you loving classical music, that makes sense....i loooove old english movies like that too. my sunt got my hooked on them and has made me copies of so many of those kind. i wish she had Where Angels Fear to Tread though. it looks so good! *CAUTION: My enthusiasm for this movie does not seem to be shared by a whole lot of people. It has a relatively low rating on Netflix. The reviews are lukewarm if not downright bad in some cases. This is not good because I rate this movie within the top 5 favorite movies all time. Go figure. ('Course what kind of taste can a silly old pirate have ). Maybe MissG, who I believe has seen this film, can give you a second opinion. If she does, I know she will be perfectly honest with you and not worry about hurting the feelings of some old pirate around here who has no taste anyway.* yes, it has sort of a middle rating on IMDB too, and i read up on lots of comments other people made about it. there are very mixed views on what different people see about this movie. i dont know weather to expect one thing or the other just reading all of them. heehee! i talked to april on the phone about it and she was honest about it, but she doesnt remember a whole lot about it. maybe we will both get to see it and share views on it together. *not worry about hurting the feelings of some old pirate around here who has no taste anyway.* i wouldnt say that laffite! you have excellent and very refined tastes, especially in movies. i love reading your take on everything!....remember, you are a fancy free swashbuckler now!
  2. *I'd forgotten she was in Stage Door. She may have lacked humor, without which something seems lacking---unless you're the kind of star that plays it tough and tragic. I also can't really say she's "beautiful" or unique looking, just middle of the road pretty. But very likable. Competition was unbelievably thick back then.* i agree with you dahlink! i never thought she was striking or even really beautiful. she's in between pretty and plain. though she isnt a bad actress and i liked her in Stage Door. i thought she was pretty good! i cant even begin to talk about the competition for the most beautiful woman in the world back then. a lot of people said heddy lamarr had that title, but i dont think she was striking. she may have been beautiful, but she just didnt cut that title for me too much. i guess it all depends upon your own unique opinion. everyone has their take in who they think is beautiful.
  3. i do think they should relieve this situation about the rights to the movie things. i wish they would just release it and make it in better quality format. it is such a great movie with lots of imagination put into it!
  4. i really looooved the scene where his patient was the little girl and her parents didnt have the money to pay doc, so he said for her to give him a kiss on the cheek as the pay and she did. that has the be the sweetest scene in the movie. you also see doc's softie side, which you dont get to see very often in the movie, b/c he is so reserved and uptight to himself most of the time. but when he saved the boy's life, the boy still took a hating toward's doc. it had to be a little while before the boy would actually get used to him. i think you are right about them being a family to doc. he didnt have any others around for his family, but when the boy came and actually started to understand him and was there with him all the time, and then maria came as an innocent battered up girl, who he healed and became close to, things were different for him. he didnt realize it at the time, but he did later.
  5. thanks dahlink!! i enjoyed your desciptions too! i guess we sorta think a like huh? heehee! i didnt talk about louis pasture silly. i talked about marie skladovska(marie curie's maiden name) and pierre curie. yes i agree with you on Doc Frail's relationship with maria schell in the Hanging Tree. he was so closed up in his own world trying to get away from his past, that he couldnt really pay full attention to what was right in front of him at the present time. he couldnt get his first wife out of his mind, so he closed his mind when it came to maria schell. thats what i became most emotional with during the movie.....at the end of the movie i became emotional with an entirely different matter. heehee! its like he was in lvoe with her, but never showed it so she could see it. he did pay for her gold digging supplies though and i think that might have been one way to show that he actually cared about her even though he pushed her away every time she tried to make a move on him.
  6. sorry it took so long to reply, i have been trying to become a member of the helen mirren association society, but i keep running into things. heehee! *That?s true! His tanned skin looked really good against those red sheets* stop that!! im getting hot in here! *That made me laugh out loud!! Yes this dream was a little longer than some of my other recent ?funny business? dreams. I remember when I woke up getting tickled that it was during the daytime. Those types of dreams are usually set at night. We had the curtains closed (don?t want to give people a free show!) but you could still see daylight coming through them. I?m not sure why I wasn?t at work but I didn?t seem to care .* just what i wanted to know, you were in bed with gary in the day time. heehee! honestly ang! why are you caring wether you were at work or not? you were with gary for crying out loud! at least they arent getting any shorter anymore. oh my goodness im trying to remember the dream i had last night.....i know gary was in it, and so was helen mirren and greer. i even had an english accent in this dream and so did gary! i remember waking up thinking, "oh my goodness, gary was english!" i can only remember parts of it and am trying to remember more. it was like one of her prime suspect movies, except less graphic. heehee! we were on our way to a movie premier of helen's latest movie and when we got there the entire movie theater was empty. we all wondered why and so did helen of course, b/c it was the premier for HER movie. we walked a little more into the movie theater and greer spotted a dead body and screamed at the top of her lungs. gary calmed her down buy giving her a hug and i wasnt even jealous. me and helen were too worried about the dead body. heehee! we didnt know who it was, just some poor girl. well me, helen, gary, and greer decided that we would search for the killer. so we searched all over this empty pitch black theater. i cant remember some of the things we did inside that theater, but i remember all the clues aded up to joan crawford being the killer! we never caught the killer, b/c i woke up, but when i woke up i was so tickled that all the clues added up to joan crawford being the killer! it was like a scooby-doo mystery, and gary was freddy, greer was daphne, and me and helen were a combo of velma. we were all best friends, but unfortunately we didnt have a scooby or a shaggy with us. heehee! i wanna have the rest of that dream so badly!!
  7. i know, i have never dreamt about him in swimming trunks before, that was so awesome! his chest hair was so soft. when he pulled me in for the kiss i remember feeling his chest hair against my arms, because they went in the air when he kissed me.( i could still feel it when i woke up too...again) heehee! well one of them did. the other one of my hands was around his neck. heehee! i know i gotta stop those silly questions, i dont know why i do them! but he seems to enjoy them by smiling WITH DIMPLE ACTION going on in those cheeks. heehee! i still remember that one dream where he kissed me and i placed me fingers in his dimples. phew! i could still feel it when i woke up!...so smooth!....wow! its getting hot in here. heehee! honestly ang! such indecorous behavior you have in those funny business dreams. heehee! figures everything was red...in a hotel room too. tsk, tsk, tsk.....well at least he didnt loose you under white covers this time. did it last longer this time? are they still getting shorter and shorter? *The ink would still be fresh on the divorce papers and I would rush in to mend poor Will's broken heart .* i bet you would, and dont forget to stay away from my melody....just in case you forgot. heehee! we cant have you going around committing bigomy with my man now can we?
  8. *what one quality do you think all your quiet characters share in common?* my quiet/reserved characters all DO share something in common, especially my male characters. they all are very shy in their own ways of doing things in life. htye are very much in their own worlds surrounded by their thinking. sometimes they arent the most perceptive men in the world, but their women always bring them out of their shells. making them understand more so what the world is about. yes, they are all smart and intelligent in acting about as they do, but their women character they end up with, seem to teach them about opening up and being mkore perceptive in especially how women work. heehee! for example, in Madam curie, Pierre was a "woman hater" - as Eve described him in the book she wrote about her parents - before he met marie. he thought a woman's place should be in the home and shouldnt intergfere with science especially, yet when he met marie, his views completely changed about not only her, but women in general. she was confined in her own world too and just as reserved as her was, yet she still managed to open him up to new and interesting things in the world other than of science. as for my reserved women characters, they all have a little something in common as well. they share gentleness as yours do, and are intelligent as well, such as elizabeth bennett or erica in Fraulein. i wouldnt say elizabeth was the shy type, but she certainly knew how to hold her words even when the most hatred came from lady catherine or caroline bingley. she firugred that arguing wouldnt have done any good, unless it was with mr, darcy himself apparently. heehee! mr. darcy said himself, that the most accomplished of women attained a sense of reading and learning, and way of carrying themselves in front of other people. elizabeth was the very essence of accompliced eomanhood, even in her reserved ways. i think my female outgoing characters are sort of similar to your female outgoing characters. they feel more comfortable around men then with women.
  9. my wonderful pirate of penzance, leffite!! can you tell me about Where the angels Fear to Tread? it has my helen mirren in it, but i havent seen it yet. i cant find it anywhere. can you tell me about it? is it extraordinarily great enough for me to see? is she great in it?
  10. oh my goodness frankie!!! what a list you just shoveled out there!! i rather like it, and i thought i would hate it t first. heehee! what is it with you and Forty Guns? i never saw what was so good about that movie. i mean its got a good plot, but too much violence for my innocent little self. heehee! i noticed angela lansbury's role in anchurian Candidate made your list...barely. well at least you thought of her, but come on, didnt you think it was mean of them to do that to sweet angela? they made her so mean in that movie! although she did a bang up job playing it i must admit. i forgot to add mark mcpherson to my list! oh goodness, i will just have to makre a second list like april did. heehee! i rather liked your female lists to! well it seems i cant complain too much then. *some of it wonderfully wasteful.* yougot that right...wasteful is the key word right there! especially with your Forty Guns character. honestly! i didnt especially like spencer tracy's character in Inherit the Wind either. okay im done analyzing your list now!
  11. *If she's still acting like a little girl who doesn?t know what marriage really is, then he?ll be an eligible bachelor again in no time .* wonderful! that would work for you now wouldnt it? heehee! then YOU would get your way and STAY AWAY from MY Melody while youre at it! goodness! heehee! after all, i saw him first.
  12. heehee! thank you jackie, it was a marvelous dream! not as romantic as i had hoped...i dont exactly enjoy being at the Hyatt 8 hours a day, but he made it seem to smooth and wonderful. i wouldnt mind that happening in real life too. heehee!
  13. if you havent already found this site, it is a chat room for lucille ball and there is everything to do with lucy ABND desi. one of my friends made this site and it is really fantastic there! enjoy! http://www.simplylucille.proboards53.com/
  14. _*GASPS!!*_ ANGIE! how could you do such a thing to me! dreaming AGAIN about my melody jones!! this is outrageous, and after i promised not to have another will cane dream! ....well at least you werent doing any funny business with him, thats good.....but i shall still seak revenge on this one!.... oh by the way i had another gary dream the night before last night. i forgot to tell you on the phone. every time i called you, i forgot to tell you. heehee! he had *overalls* on again...with the hat!! heehee! never fails, never fails....not that i want it to fail. in my dream, i was working at the Hyatt - how do you like that, even in my dreams i have to take work home with me heehee - and gary came in looking around at everything and i wasnt paying attention, unfortunately, and he came to the counter wanting to buy some sun screen, and i looked up and saw him there. i completely froze in my place and he was just looking at me waiting for me to take his money for the item. after a few minutes he smiled and took my hand and put the money in it, and sais, "have a wonderful day" and just walked away, leaving his cell phone on the counter (what gary was doing with a cell phone, ill never know)...after i woke out of my coma, heehee, i was beside myself telling myself how stupid i was for not saying anything.....then about half an hour later he came in again wearing his swimming trunks!!! this time, i ran to him with the cell phone and rushed out the words all at once. goodness! he just smiled and immidiately grabbed me and kissed me. then i asked him why he did that. i can believe i did that! how silly, i always ask the dumbest questions in my gary dreams! heehee! he didnt say anything , but smiles really beautifully. then my manager walks in and i walked out with him completely ignoring her. then i woke up.
  15. i think senta and ang are right about amy and will's relationship. i just couldnt see their marriage lasting their whole lives. especially with amy's selvish ways, even though they are small selfish ways, they would probably grow in years going, and she just doesnt strike me as the girl who would do anything for her husband. correct me if im wrong, but when two people get married, shouldnt they sacrifice things for each other? she strieks me as the kind who wants everything dione her way, amnd if it doesnt ghappen that way, she complains or threatens to leave him. to me, she just isnt a very great character....then again at the end of the movie she did pick up the ghun and shoot the bad guy for her love. hmm. i guess i should take that itno the consideration, but then again it still all comes down to her being selfish. in a good marriage, one cant be selfish.
  16. oh my holy joes!!! senta you just made me day! when i was looking at those pics you posted from ebay, i caught the one of melody jones kissy cherry and i froze solid for five minutes staring at it! heehee!
  17. *Bonjour Mademoiselle la Butterscotch, la plus gentille du monde.* stop making me blush, silly. heehee! *What? You actually carry one of those around with you!* of course!! one should always carry around a library card just in case. heehee! how do you think i get all my studying done for my classes. oy! *Pirates don't blush. We have an image to uphold. (Grrrr)* the ones in Pirates of Penzance did! heehee! remember? they had a weekness for orphans. *Are you kidding? You know how some pirates have have peg legs? Well, I got peg fingers. Why, I just finished a whole tub of taters and now I gotta look for my fingernails.* i feel like im talking to edward scissorhands.....the pirate! heehee! *You got that right. I'm not going to tangle with them. I'll have to make sure I won't get in one of their movies.* well now, why not? i could see you playing stewart granger in Scaramouche. what a site that would be! all you have to do is learn to do a LITTLE fencing. no biggie. heehee! *If so, I'd be the only one, 'cause swashies are pretty mean. If I ever get on a pirate ship I'd better not tell them I like classical music. They would be make me walk the plank in a trice. And maybe pull out my fingernails first (if I have any left). (Note to myself: Les pirates n?aiment pas la musique classique. N?en dire rien )* like i said, you would be great in Pirates of Penzance with linda ronstadt. just the thing for a pirate who swoons over classical music. i think it would be cute! *Tres bien! Les images sont tout a fait extraordinaire. Je vouldrais bien voir ce film en couleur. Merci pour nous les donner. La beaute de Mme Greer est eclatante, n?est-ce pas?* you could say that again! i would love to see it too, and you are right. greer's beauty really shines in color, especially in Pride and Prejudice. im aching to see this! heehee!
  18. *All your nightmares are due to watching those horrifying Greer and Coop movies. I suggest you not watch them anymore.* youre darn tootin', ill watch them again! they satisfy my hunger for excitement and mushy romance, so there! i stick my tongue out at you. heehee! *And you know darn well I'm not the one in your dreams since you dream of dances and weddings. I won't go near those.* i dont ALWAYS dream of dances and weddings! honestly you wedding crasher! i think you love going to dances and weddings, except when me and gene and gloria show up in our long black gloves. heehee! *Her give up and surrender? Ha!* did we ask for a chuckle from the peanut gallery? no!! heehee!
  19. *Theresa: at least your peanut dream dream didnt consist of MY melody!* *Okay we're even. I dreamed about Melody Jones and you dreamed about Will Kane. Now you better leave my Will alone .* first you steal MY melody, then you try to steal my sailors at the capitol, and you expect me not to steal your will cane anymore? ha! heehee! hey he looked really handsome in his little will cane outfit in my last dream in the field of poppies. at least he kissed me and we werent in an airport. heehee! okay, okay, i guess were even....maybe.
  20. the monster that most scared me as a kid.......my goodness he still scares me just looking at this picture! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!
  21. guys guys!!!!! everybody im so excited!!! guess what!! pride and prejudice was released on DVD again in technicolor as an Italian version. i think it can still be in English on the DVD, but look at these GORGEOUS photos!! i seriously need to find this!!!
  22. *I'm afraid men are just as lacking in chivalry in my dreams as they are out of them, and I* *am just as a big a coward.* you are not a coward dahlink! you will triumph! never give up, never surrender! heehee!
  23. jackie, i agree with you. i dont see why the movies make caviar out to be this lavish wonderful garnish that everyone should love. it sounds great in the movies and it makes you want to try some, but when you actually get the chance, it tastes terrible. yucky!...champagne is wonderful, i love pink champagne too. but i only sip it from my parents' glass. heehee!
