  1. just let me know what you think of it okar april! its a moral imperative. heehee! you know, i too noticed that i could never find "stardust" on an official album of frankie's, but i actually have found it on a cd since his death that someone released recently. it is theversion i have on my ipod with glenn miller, tommy dorsey, frankie, AND benny goodman. talk about an orchestra. heehee! its my favorite! i love "summer wind" too. i also have michael buble's version of that one on one of his cds. i cant ever make up my mind which one i like best. i always have my michael buble cds out next to my frankie ones and i play the songs they both sing and i play them one after the other to comapre them and it drives me up the wall. heehee! i can never decide, but when it coems down to it, frankie does better in more. heehee! i guess its a little too silly to ask frankie to have tea. huh? i bet if he was still alive and we asked him to have some hot tea with us, we would get a reaction sorta like the one cary grant gave leslie caron when she told him to drink coconut milk. heehee! here's one of my other favs: frankie does a marvelous job with this version.
  2. ooh i love that song!!! no i could never know as many songs from the 80s as she and my daddy do. goodness! i keep hearing new ones every day on the radio that they sing to after 20 years of hearing them. that calls for a "wow!" from me. heehee! do you lke any other bands rom the 80s? maybe like journey or genesis?
  3. *Wow, look how well dressed they were to appear on radio!! I love her dress, it's gorgeous and she looks gorgeous in it.* i know! i love that! they both look so pretty so that nobody can see them. heehee! well i think some radio shows had those live audiences didnt they? i seem to recall the comand performance show on the radio having a live audience. *It frightens me to think how people dress who work on radio now. Yuck! Heck, they even dress like that to go to the opera*. well down here in Texas, nobody dresses up to go anywhere. you will se people dressing in jeans to go to the opera or a broadway show. not me. when i go to see a show, the opera, church, a movie or even shopping, i mostly wear my skirts and fancy clothes. its too fun not to! today its beautiful, how i could i not wear a skirt just to go to school today? heehee! i wish mroe people would dress up just to go shopping.
  4. i can definitely spot the difference in this version and the version WITH the trumpet. i like the trumpet one much better. its the one im used to also. heehee! this is fun! let us have tea time while listening to frankie! heehee! i wonder if we have any pics of frankie with a cuppa tea....no probably not. more likely to find a pic of him with a shot glass. heehee! i tried. oh yuore gonna love this april! i found my favorite version of Stardust with frankie and tommy dorsey....and it it starts with a guy talking really fast for a tobacco commercial. those always crack me up! in most of the judy garland show's, when they take a break, they do a similar tobacco commercial with the fast talk and my momma loves to make fun of it by trying to impersonate it. it is too funny! i also love nat king cole's version of Stardust, but you can never go wrong with frankie! http://youtube.com/watch?v=NlujPZ64ZvI
  5. greer, and basil rathbone when they did their radio show for goodbye, mr. chips Message was edited by: butterscotchgreer
  6. i remember that quote from ray charles! goodness, i completely forgot he said that. heehee! that is funny! i have only seen one of the documentaries of frankie, from one of grandmama's tapes, it was the one with Ella, but i dont rememeber it that well. i have to watch it again adn see if it is in it. i cant wait to see the other one!realit check, frankie always knocks it outta the park when he sings. heehee! "one for my baby, and one more for the road." heehee! i love that song! i loooooove this song he sings in Anchor Aweigh. time for me to swoon! http://youtube.com/watch?v=B_1fzXC6l58
  7. They are finally playing at 8:00 AM on the 14th, Youngest Profession, The (1943) with many cameos including greer and walter. heehee! i have been waiting forthis movie for ages! im so happy its coming on now!
  8. i dont mind 80s stuff as long as it doesnt scream at me. heehee! i like def Leppard too. she has this thing she does in the car. when an 80s song plays, she immidiately says who it is and what the name of the song is. when im driving, shell ask me if i know it, and lately, i have been saying who it is without my mother asking me. how pathetic is that? heehee! which def leppard songs do you like?
  9. aahh! the best is yet to come. very true. heehee! also one of my favs! i didnt like her part too much in Pal Joey either, but she isnt as "annoying" to me in that one. dont anyone take that offensively, b/c i know there are many people on her who absolutely love rita. just my take on her. frankie was more of a generous man than people gave him credit for, and i love that he insisted she get top billing! i love frankie'ssmall part in Till theCLouds Roll By, and everytime i hear hims singing this, it makes me ball. oh how i cry a river! of course the original guy who sang this in ShowBoat did a fantastic job too, but i do like frankie's version too. the emotion! http://youtube.com/watch?v=TuSlRZPu8z0
  10. im not too much of a rod stweart fan either. i pretty much have the same opinion you do about him. oh yes my mother grew up in the eighties going to heavy metal concerts, she still goes to them! thats what keeps her awake in the car in the early mornings so i put it on for her, but i dont like all that screaming they do in those songs. it isnt music, its a screaming contest! yucky!
  11. i love Pal Joey! the only thing with that movie i have a problem with is rita hayworth, but even she isnt too bad in that one, so i dont mind watching it all the time, b./c my frankie is in it! i just love his rendition of "lady is a tramp". i have never heard a better version other than his in this movie. it is beyong the best of the best! i have to confess it is one of my many favs of his too.nah i dont think either of us could have too many favs of frankie's . it isnt possible! that dino-judy-frankwhich is on DVD. the DVD cover http://www.amazon.com/Judy-Frank-Dean-Once-Lifetime/dp/B0000714B9/ref=pd_sim_d_img_5 everytime i hear frankie singing "Moon River" i have to pick myself up too. im melting right now listening to it. help me up april! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uweq4_K5sTc
  12. how about lena horne with vincente minelli when he was directing Cabin in the Sky.
  13. *Tell me about it! Drama is OK with them if it's random violence or some nonsensical plot twist but if it's contained in a movie of GREAT artistic merit and beautiful poetry, it's just "sappy" to them.* i know!! they just dont understand the beauty and the meaning og it all. if they really understood it, they wouldnt think of HGWMV as the "sappy crap." drama is always okay as long as it had violence and action for my momma. it cant be harmoniousa and operatic, it has to be athletic and action filled. yucky! i cant even listen to my "Delilah" station on the radio at night sometimes, b/c my mother has to stay awake so she puts on alternative music. 14. *Look, I?ve got my hands on him!! Whatcha gonna do about it tough girl?* that is so wrong! that isnt you, its me, its me! thats my hand in his, thats my arm brushing up against his face! mine! im pouting! oh no not that picture! did you have to pick that particular one? at least you cant see my disconnected head on it this time. heehee!
  15. i meant Young at Heart. i dont know why but i always get those two movies mixed up...the titles. i could see doris day and him, but i was thinking about the other movie. oy! im losing it, these finals are killing me. heehee! i dont especially like him in Young at Heart. he wasnt the best husband in it and was sort of mean to doris when they got married. but it ended great! okay i have a suggestion! frankie with judy and dean. i have this special on VHS but i want to buy it on DVD. it has my judy, frankie AND dean. wow! they are so great together! your turn!
  16. *And if we try real hard maybe we'll drown...a certain someone.* excellent! yes, that may just work out, but we have to try real hard, he seems to be real sneaky of lately. Message was edited by: butterscotchgreer
  17. *That is too funny b/c I can?t picture him in overalls without also seeing him wearing that hat. We are just too much alike sometimes* heehee! its weird because i can never imagine him in overalls without the hat too, but he has only had the hat in a few of the overalls dreams. talk about disappointment. heehee! thats okay i get the chest hair and dimples too. phew! those lyrics really are saucy, you werent kidding! but its so true for us. all im saying, is youbetter keep your hands off my melody. heehee! i gotta have that song now! i wonder if i can find it on itunes. ill have to check.
  18. oh that looks like its from The Tender Trap. am i right? i do the same thing! thats so weird! i love that "frank sinatra mood machine" too! heehee! all this month im playing mainly my frankie cds and records, since its his month. heehee! what song will he sing for us? ooh can we request?
  19. *I think we have the same mother. She thought How Green Was My Valley was too dramatic.* yup, we have the same mother. my mom wont even watch HGWMV, becasue she said she saw it in school when she was younger and hated it. when she said that, i spit out my hot tea! no one hates that movie. "its too sappy" she says, "it is too dramatic and too sad." *This from the woman who loves the TV show "Dallas". As if "waking up and realizing it was all nothing but a dream" isn't "dramatic".* i know what you mean! my mother loves the TV show "Heroes", and i watched a few of them....talk about drama. everyone is crying and people are killing other people! they scare me! she used to watch "Dallas" with my dad, but doesnt much anymore and she liked it. i dont think they know what drama means. heehee!
  20. no silly, thats melody's horse. heehee! but glenn sounds even better. such a cutie! i think glenn should strap frankie down and drag him.
  21. see! such meanness. she says it without squinting.
  22. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! our frankie sinatra is joinging us for breakfast!! what a wonderful delight!! i was babysitting my little cousins yesterday during the day also and i had TCM on in the background and a commercial for frankie was on, and i was in my own world watching it and not maying attention to them. they walked in front of me to catch my attention. heehee! they said, "you must like that guy. is he old?" i cracked up laughing so hard! of course i do.
