I have asked many so called movie buffs and never have received an answer. Years ago I watched a movie with my grandmother about a woman who tells her life story.
It takes place 'today' whenever the movie was made where she and a man are looking over the city as a city service. It was new years or something so there were fireworks. As the man and woman talk she mentions her life story which we see in flashbacks in the 20's or so. She is in a smallish town and a pilot flies over head impressing everyone. She sleeps with him and ends up pregnant. Of course she can't keep the baby so she leaves it on a doorstep and a local family gets him. She befriends the family and babysits so she can be around her son. Eventually she gets separated and doesn't see him for years. Back in the current time she finds him and meets him and i can't remember the end.
