Well, I suppose you are right, Snarfie, but so few people look at General Issues, and since this is such a wide spread problem with so many individual participants, even I posted a suggestion on this thread knowing it would be read by more posters than in General Issues.

I can't let this thread go by without commenting on one of my favorites. Walter Pigeon was one of the all time GREATS! He was sophisticated, cultured, and wise. He was the personification of the GENTELMAN, young and old. I should have added his name to the greats of film voices, as well, but never got around to it. As a narrator, he was unsurpassed! His rich, masculine baritone was a draw to any documentary or biography. Yup, he was one of the best and hardly ever remembered or discussed, as this thread proves. It almost disappeared, but I couldn't let that happen to ole Walter! It is almost impossible to find any pictures of him on the web, and even the film books I have of him only show him with someone else or in a very small picture, a sad commentary on a great film star. Here he is with Maureen O'Sullivan in My Dear Miss Aldrich:

The forum seems to be working faster, at least on my end, but there is still one major problem everyone seems to be having, duplicate postings. The way I solved this problem was to open TCM twice. Whenever I make a post, and it jumps to "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage," I go to the other TCM, hit refresh, and check to see if my post posted. If it did, then I just go back to the first opening of TCM and return to Forum Home. That is the simplest way I have found to avoid repeat posting on this board or to check to see if my pictures have shown up.

Ok, I am gonna go with Anne Revere or Gale Sondergaard. And, although I think Anne is perfect in every role she plays, Gale is supreme in her presence and delivery! Gale Sondergaard Claudette Colbert or Greer Garson?

Yes, Miss Goddess! Congratulations! Gee, you registered September 21, 2006, and I registered May 21, 2006, but you have more posts than I! As GarboManiac, I have 2359, and as Garbomania, I have 1267 for a grand total of 4626! I don't know how you did it, but you beat me, and I came on exactly four months earlier. You Go! I had to go check on The Gallery of Stars thread (Remember those great times?). You were such a great contributor on that. It is nice you are still around. Here's to you!

Here is a pic I found. It is not very good, but it is fun, anyway.

It looks like somebody young made up to look old.

Ah, good choice, Dan. She made that right after Daisy, and was paired again with Redford.

Natalie Wood That picture below, in color with the hat, is from Inside Daisy Clover, and I think this one is around that time, if not from the film, as well. The film is in black and white, but that is a color picture of one of the outfits she, as a movie star, wears as one of the characters in her films.

I agree; that was mighty fine of her. And, glad to know you understood about the photos. Now, as to Natalie, there are two films you should see when she was 22. This was when she had left her childhood image and began acting as a "woman." You can watch either Cash McCall (money and power) with James Garner, or Splendor in the Grass (depressing struggles of youth) with Warren Beatty. Then, when she was about 25 or 26, she made Inside Daisy Clover with Robert Redford. This is HER film. It is her showcase. Also, about this time is Penelope, which is delightful. Then, later as a mature star, she made only a few movies (most of her appearances were for TV movies or specials) like The Last Married Couple in America and her last film Brainstorm, niether of which I cared for. Yup, Inside Daisy Clover would be the one I would recommend you watching. A young 25 year old star in a movie about becoming a star, great stuff! (I would have italicized the movie titles, but of course, the button didn't work.

Who's Your Favorite Male and Female Actress?
Garbomania replied to ClassicKatt's topic in General Discussions
Well, although this topic has been done over, and over, and over, and over, again, I'll bite. I'll say Greta Garbo and Cary Grant, no, make that Hedy Lamarr and Tyrone Power, no, make that Norma Shearer and Errol Flynn, no, make that Jean Harlow and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., no, make that . . . . -
Oh, how true, how true! A year has gone by, and we are still at war, like Iraq! Last summer was truly a horror. I have had a couple of pm's from posters declaring the doomsday of the boards, but I have reassured them that this will never happen. There are enough of us who trudge through the trenches to help others and continue spreading the knowledge, joy and thrill of classic films. I really enjoyed CineMaven's little speech, and that alone encourages me that we will plod along in our efforts to uplift the spirits on this wonderful TCM Board. There is nothing like it anywhere! I have participated on other film forums and in other areas other than film, and there is nothing like the spontaneity or intelligence displayed in these threads. Oh yes, there are the unpleasant moments, but we shall overcome. Now, thanks to the ignore button, which I haven't had to use yet, some of our more "discerning" players can calm themselves with the absence of those who disturb their tranquility. I have already seen a positive move toward agreement and peaceful exchange. It is really up to everyone to "just chill," as they say, and hold your tongue. There is really no reason to vent every little frustration. As maturity sets in, as it should have by now with all of the members over 40, we should all be able to let much of our disagreements just slide off our backs like little ducklings, and enjoy the camaraderie of splashing around in the pond together without ruffled feathers. I look forward to many more months or years of participation, and with the return of Larry, things are really looking up. Remember people, there is always someone wonderful to talk to on these boards and you can simple gravitate toward them.

Oh, no hard feelings; I was really just trying to help, and frustrated like you. And, SHEEEEEZ, it is a most laborious task just trying to answer someone. So, don't worry about the pics on the Gene thread, they aren't going anywhere, and if the speed picks up you can always go back and add the > just to see what they were! Ha! Like that will happen soon. I hope so, anyway. You know I was truly upset by your loss of pictures on your Gene thread. I went immediately to Hedy to see if I had met with the same fate, but fortunately, I hadn't. I did post an alert on the Hedy thread saying that we should all ban together and start posting Gene pics back on your thread so you wouldn't feel so depressed. That is why those repeats on your Gene thread showed up, for which Frank thanked me, but I don't think he knew exactly why and may have wondered why I was repeating the same old pics (but I knew his favorite one was in that bunch). Anyway, then I saw that the pictures were coming back, cause as we all know now, when you post a picture, the thread bounces back to the beginning. That's when I realized that maybe all of them would come back on their own and maybe the missing > wouldn't affect their return. So, that is why I eventually erased that part of the message, and the alert to save your pictures I made on the Hedy thread. I know how you must have felt. If I thought all of the Hedy pics had vanished, I would have been beside myself! But, that is why I started a photobucket. All of the Hedy pics I have collected and have "stolen" from other posters are in there. If you don't have a My Pictures or a photobucket, you might think of getting one. They are very reassuring!
