  1. as of this morning I note TCM's shopping center has dropped the inclusion of the 29 version in the description of extras. I received an e mail from the author of a well known classic film website stating "a last minute legal problem with the 29 version prevented its inclusion but a separate DVD is planned in the future."

  2. no 1929 version. I have my copy. I will talk with the Phantom about placing the chandelier over WARNER HOME VIDEO. SERIOUSLY, truly sad. what a wasted wasted opportunity to see a version without a tacked on censorship ending although I have not watched the alternate ending yet. Warner Home Video owes us to rush out a separate DVD of the 1929 version quickly. and include the very loose remake THE UNFAITHFUL for good measure. Ann Sheridan needs more DVD exposure. SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU WARNER AND TURNER HOME VIDEO.

  3. If you are going to complain, I would print out the description on MOVIES UNLIMITED/TURNER for THE LETTER before they change it. as of now, mon a.m., still says it includes the 1929 version. just a suggestion.

  4. could be nasty and order 100 copies of THE LETTER and then return them all due to promising what is not there. he he ha ha. but TURNER brings me too much pleasure. If it was FOX, I'd be tempted after pulling the Charlie Chan festival suddenly two summers ago. cheer up. a local film critic told me TCM has remastered the 1929 THE LETTER so it should show up eventually. I hope.

  5. does anyone from TURNER read this board. They are still advertising that Tuesday's release of THE LETTER DVD will include the 1929 version. If I order it from their website above, I should hold them to it. Warner home video claims they never said it would be included.

  6.

and people are still saying happy new year!!!! darn it. what a wasted opportunity. the 29 would have made it a truly great release. oh well, might as well go buy Amber's book now. #2 on amazon and at least amazon was not hoodwinked by warner home video.

  7. also, Amazon and DVD planet are pretty good at listing extras and they do not for this release. they list nothing. so I am hoping the 29 Letter is buried therein somewhere like DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY is on the remake's DVD special edition.

  8. Happy 2005. gotta be better than 2004. those poor sad victims in So Asia. I just discovered this board after years of being a TCM fan. actually, COURT TV was nasty IMO and shut their board down last night for a few days for fear of New Year's Eve people getting out of control. so here I am at TCM and glad I found it. I also wanted to vent about the possible exclusion of the 1929 THE LETTER as an extra on the DVD of the 1940 version due next week.

  9. > Myidolspencer - I got John Wayne's CIRCUS WORLD on

    > VHS from an EBAY seller last month. It is an

    > official release. The quality is only fair...and of

    > course it's a Cinerama movie in pan and scan.

    > The Hong Kong DVD's are also "full screen." But it's

    > a fun movie to watch, I remember seeing it so many

    > years ago in CINERAMA....

    > The two-cassette VHS version will do until we get an

some of those ebay sellers are exasperating. the word I love is RARE. Or 7 of 10 but rare. some have been pretty bad. VIEW FROM POMPEY'S HEAD suddenly became hot on ebay. one seller of a pan and scan cut print tried to tell me the film's negative was lost and it would never be shown or seen again. then a very good DVD widescreen print popped up on ebay. the worst I bought is THE 13TH LETTER a fair remake of LE CORBEAU. It is such a bad dupe you cannot read any of the letters!!!!!
