  1. And Frank...your "manhood" will remain intact, if only based on your posts on Novak, Tierney and Double G. Quite manly and spirited posts on that trio of lovelies. I'm gonna need to dive into those three lovelies after watching Pride and Prejudice. BTW, I'm into cooties, so lay 'em on me Frankie boy. You? I cannot believe the liveliest gal in town would be into cooties. You better get to me before I watch Pride and Prejudice. I have a feeling that will be the end of me.
  2. Hi, Extra Super Sweet T! -- You are naughty! Those photos of Gloria Grahame are sizzling! I absolutely love the top photo of her profile. It's mysteriously beautiful. And I see you found another photo from the "long black gloves" photoshoot. Very nice. Gloria is the second-best looking girl I've seen in long black gloves recently. The Susan Hayward photos are just as captivating to me. She looks sensational! I just love girls who don't smile in photos and Gloria and Susan are two of the best. Their looks kill. They stare daggers.
  3. Hiya, Super Sweet T -- I forgot to post Angela from The Manchurian Candidate! i noticed that. i thought that would be right at the top of your list! im ashamed of you! heehee! thanks for those angie lansbury pics!! i just love her, but i hate that her character was so mean! but she did a GREAT job at being mean. heehee! what can i say? she was versatile. Mean? Ma Iselin is the sweetest mom in the world. She's never too busy to play cards with her son. She was a mother to Smithy, too. no she was not! oka okay, maybe she was a mother FIGURE for a while to take care of him, but i was thinking along the lines of a nurse/sweetheart. A nurse sweetheart? Do you mean like a candystriper? These Greer Garson films are full of filth! Your list was rather sappy. That's unlike you. I'll look to post some "Mama Bennett" for you later on. She goes on the "annoying mom" list . oh thank you, but mama bennett wasnt annoying to me. i found it rather hilarious how cute she was when being annoying to papa bennett. she always made me laugh! heehee! but i dont think i would want my own mama to push me into a marriage just because he is rich. that would make me mad like it did lizzie. nevertheless, i think mary boland did a fantastic job! Mama Bennet wasn't annoying? Yes she was! You just said you wouldn't want her to push you around. I don't blame you. oh my goodness! i forgot about lane meyer's momma!!! could you ever forgive me!? pretty please! i should have put her at the top of my list! momma ~"its got raisins in it, you like raisins." lane ~"beth broke up with me." momma ~"oh....thats nice (while smiling and vacuuming)" honestly, that dinner scene you posted is her best scene! i love it!!!!! "french dressing.....and to drink....peru!" heehee! always gets me! that made my morning, thank you frankie! i love that hand shaking scene too with lane and monique! You're welcome, Monique.
  4. Frank: Please let me add one of my favorites in the Monster Mom category: Jo Van Fleet in "EAST OF EDEN." I like monster moms, CM. I haven't seen East of Eden. Do you think it's my kind of film?
  5. Hi, Visualfeast -- How are you? Your list exposed my lack of classic film knowledge since I haven't seen any of the movie moms you selected with the exception of Susan Hayward in I Want to Live!. So which is your very favorite movie mom and why? Hey, Rich -- I really like your selection of "Belinda McDonald" (Jane Wyman in Johnny Belinda). I like that film a lot and I love Jane's performance. Hiya, Liveluest Gal in Town -- Hmmm...does this beg the question: what actress would you most liiiiiikely have an Oedipal Complex for? It actually IS Grace Kelly. I must say, Louise Brooks has a very contemporary face, her 20's garb notwithstanding. She certainly does. What I like most about Louise is her playfulness, her smile, and her deep, dark eyes.
  6. Hi, Bargar -- Thanks, Frank! I had a very nice Mother's Day! That's terrific! So that son of yours did okay with you? A Grandmother IS a Mother as far as I am concerned! I think Frank will be okay. How about it, Frank? But of course! A grandmother is most definitely a mother. I spent some time with both of my grandmas yesterday. (Of the normal 2 sets of grandparents, I only knew my parternal grandma and she passed away when I was 9 yrs. old. Her name was Ida Mae and she was so sweet. She had very long white hair, which she wore in a bun. When I spent the night, she would let me comb her pretty hair & then we would fall asleep holding hands. I hope I didn't get too sentimental - I just remember her with such fondness). That was a lovely story, Bargar. I really enjoy reading such wonderful personal moments such as that. I liked your mom selections. The ones I liked most are "Margaret White" (Piper Laurie in Carrie) and her clean pillows and these two terrific gals:
  7. Hiya, Coopsy's Cooties Girl -- Whatever you do, don?t kiss Frank. I think he might have cooties!!!! I think you mean "coopies." Don't worry, I won't tell Coop what we've been up to. Hola, Fairytale Romance Girl -- i dont think mr. ostentatious will ever give up this fight. it is one where he seems to take pride in being mean and hateful toward characters of perfection. heehee! I'm never mean or hateful towards characters of perfection like "Amy" in High Noon. It's the trashy Greer Garson characters that I find so offensive. There's only so much lewd behavior I can take before I start to gasp in horror. I'm gonna reply to your earlier post later on. It's a good thing you poisoned me with Gene Tierney. Now that's a decent gal! She only played the sweetest of girls. Ciao, CineBaby -- Frank, ButterScotch...will you two ever kiss and make up over this issue of "Pride and Prejudice"??? Maybe if I actually took the time to watch the film, but I'm trying to keep my "manhood."
  8. "It's "The 39 Steps" both times." - Minya And I am sure FrankGrimes is jumping up and down now too. I'm such a pushover sap, Kyle, you know that. I've been jumping up and down ever since Minya mentioned her vampy dames gallery.
  9. Hiya, Sweet T -- somehow i figured you would post To Catch a Thief AND Random Harvest. pathetic! im sorta surprised that you didnt post janet leigh from The Manchurian Candidate. heehee! I forgot to post Angela from The Manchurian Candidate! well i agree with the random harvest part! except, she wasnt a mother to smithy, just to their little boy. so there! She was a mother to Smithy, too. Your list was rather sappy. That's unlike you. I'll look to post some "Mama Bennet" for you later on. She goes on the "annoying mom" list .
  10. Balderdash! Mommy? You just "Dial M..." everytime. I think I'd have an Oedipus complex if Grace were me mommy. Don't forget to call your Mom today - even if you're still living in her basement I'll make sure to yell up.
  11. don't forget Angela Lansbury in "The Manchurian Candidate" Wow! I did forget Ma Iselin! Great call. She's easily one of my very favorite moms.
  12. Hey, Rich -- You forgot John Shaft. Everybody knows he was a bad mutha. Happy Mutha's Day to you. There's a John Shaft and mother joke to be found, but I'm gonna shut my mouth. Hiya, Lively Gal -- You've made quite a collection there, Mr. Grimes. Nice. Thanks. I've got more, but I'm more interested in the opinions of others. Playing a mom in the movies was most likely thought as to be the death of an actress' career; to be seen as a mother precluded one from being seen as sexually viable. (I mean, who wants to see their mother as sexy, right?) Moms ARE sexy. Do I want to view my mom as sexy? No! But other moms are sexy. My choice for Mom: I have to go with Donna Reed. She's imbedded in my mind since I was a kid. Yes, Phylicia Rashad looks more like me...and June Cleaver was great too...but I'd have to go with Donna Reed. You're a Donna Reed gal? That's very interesting. Looking at Jessie Royce Landis brings me to mind of today's tv mom Holland Taylor who has a quip and a martini in her hand while meting out maternal advice. That's a great call! I love Holland Taylor because of Bosom Buddies.
  13. Happy Mother's Day to all moms, particularly to the moms on the board! Who are your favorite movie (and TV) moms? Who's the most loving, the most funniest, the most beautiful, the most glamorous, the most annoying, the most sexy ( ), the most batty, the most stern? Who's the most to you? Here are some of my favorite... Devotion -- "Tillie Wiecek" (Kasia Orzazewski in Call Northside 777) Heartache -- "Paula Smith" (Greer Garson in Random Harvest) Protective -- "Kathleen Yorke" (Maureen O'Hara in Rio Grande) Conflicted -- "Mae D'Amato" (Barbara Stanwyck in Clash by Night) Loss -- "Thymiane" (Louise Brooks in Diary of a Lost Girl) The reason I started this thread was because I didn't want to darken the lighter threads that were dedicated to Mother's Day. Darken? Well, many of my favorite movie moms are from Hitchcock films. They fascinate me. Hitchcock's "Mother Trilogy." My very favorite is "Jessie Stevens" (Jessie Royce Landis in To Catch a Thief)
  14. oh frankie, look what i found for you with the other frankie singing. just your speed...dont you just love the song? i cant say the same for the certain someone who's featured in this video. hehee! Swoon! :x :x How am I to tease you after you provided me with that kind of love? You are supposed to be obstinate at all times. If your pretend doll is a perfect lady, I shudder to think what an imperfect lady would be like thats easy, just keep watching that video up there and youll figure it out....one of these days. Awwwwww. Grace is a perfect lady. heehee! and she, meaning april is a perfect lady! No pretend doll can be a perfect lady. Maybe she's a perfect doll. You're obstinate, that's what you are. im pouting! i guess i saw that comin'. heehee! im still pouting! You're not allowed to pout! I cannot resist pouting. And you don't have me down to "T", T. well that might be a matter of opinion fly boy. Well, my opinion is all that counts. You should know that. Thanks, Jack banana oil! i was hoping you hadnt seen that one. heehee! just call me miss swan. heehee! I haven't seen it, Miss Swan. You'd never catch me watching such violence. I guess you are right. I prefer not to understand because understanding means you are dead. and april just happens to be asleep so she cant help me push you into the caramel! honestly, you pick the best times to "bring me down, bruce"! Did you put your pretend doll in her doll house?
  15. im not trying to rule anybody out of anything. me and april dont need to be ruled out, since we are perfect ladies to begin with. heehee! well at least april is, im still trying to figure out what i am. heehee! you i have down to a "T". heehee! If your pretend doll is a perfect lady, I shudder to think what an imperfect lady would be like. You're obstinate, that's what you are. And you don't have me down to "T", T. "honestly, its the honest ones you ought to look out for, because you never know when they will do something extremely...........stupid." heehee! Thanks, Jack. I certainly do not understand young "ladies." Nobody does thats because you dont want to. if you really understood young ladies and wanted to, then we wouldnt be having this discussion sillygoose. heehee! I guess you are right. I prefer not to understand because understanding means you are dead.
  16. No! I'm innocent, meaning I'm guilty. I've been accused of not doing things for quite some time with the exception of me and april, te innocent ones are always the guilty ones. heehee! meaning im directing my comment to thee! heehee! Don't even try to rule you and your pretend doll out of the guilty parade. You two are as guilty as guilty can be. You've got me trumped. What knowledge? That's what I'm suspicious of. my intuition didnt you know? oh, this is because you dont understand women....excuse me, young ladies. heehee! I certainly do not understand young "ladies." Nobody does.
  17. More of Ava in a bikini... She's also using what she's got in that photo, too! I love the golf pic. Now that's form! She looks darling in that outfit.
  18. Oh brother, you sure have a bad memory!
  19. You know, it's funny you mention that-I just put the word out that you'd had a change of heart about Gary Cooper and John Ford! Weird, huh? Curses!
  20. Really? Ahhh...so you HAVE seen The Man with the Golden Arm? Hmmmm? I know you said you have seen Some Came Running and The Manchurian Candidate but which others? Oops! It's actually four. And are you sure I have seen The Man with the Golden Arm?
  21. I have only seen five Sinatra films and they all made your list.
  22. I could make a cutting remark about the trustworthiness of persons who listening to Huey Lewis, but I won't. Cut away! I grew up on 80s pop, so bad taste is a speciality of mine. You gained mucho points for remembering my favorite 80s artist. I know country music is your favorite. I advise everyone to talk to you about your great passion for country music. My feelings are hurt so I'll make my way back to my boudoir and weep. Us sensitive guys want to hold and comfort you in your boudoir. There, there. Let it all out. Did that awful gentleman hurt your feelings?
  23. Thanks for the warm welcome, *Frank...*and for the fabulous pictures of beautiful Louise! You're welcome, Nando. Anyone who watches a double-feature of Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl will always receive the warmest of welcomes from me.
  24. What are you favorite Frankie films, Miss G?
