  1. You need to go to the Principal's office!!! Gloria Steinhem, Betty Friedan and Germaine Greer are waiting to paddle your butt!! Annie Liebowitz will photograph it and Ida Lupino and Dorothy Arzner will film it..
  2. Hello there Miss Goddess: "Well, I'm German so Romy is no stranger to me at all. I grew up hearing about her. I first saw her in the Orson Welles movie, I forget which one...The Trial? But always knew all about her." That's good to know. I'm a big fan of Schneider's. Hopefully you enjoyed the YouTube fare. I've been to Germany as well. My sister was stationed in the Army in Bremerhaven. And a film I did played at a Berlin film festival in 2002. Beautiful architecture.
  3. Matthew McConaughey played in "How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days" with: Kate Hudson.
  4. "It's A Mad X 4 World." What the world needs now are laughs. Catherine Deneuve or Romy Schneider?
  5. Picked a peck of pickled Palin... Nope, you're wrong, Capuchin. Pickin' Palin just clinches it for O'Biden.
  6. SIR FUSSBUDGET: "(I realize such exuberance is unbecoming a knight but "intimate details" of "fantasies" is something I've never been able to resist.)" Well, if you really want to know...it starts off in court. He's a judge in a long black robe. He bangs his gavel and...
  7. You're so right. He does look like Wallace Beery.
  8. DEWEY: "And therein lies the hidden love story in WHITE HEAT --Cagney and O'Brien. One that the censors clearly never spotted." Wonderfully written post Dewey. I agree with you. I think a lot of film noir had these hidden love stories that were hiding in plain sight. What comes to mind is John Hodiak and Wendell Corey in "Desert Fury" or Henry Fonda and Anthony Quinn in the (unsung?) Western: "Warlock." Nicely dewed, Dewey. ;-)
  9. HAM: "Poor Hilary she must be having a hissy fit. LOL!" Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! She's falling down laughing. Sarah's no competition. Dems in the White House! ;-)
  10. Suffragistas" hey I like that word. Thank you Jack & MissG. for your Hepburn comments. She was a force of nature. I wish I were as brave as her. If I might be indulged one more time...I was sitting at my favorite Friday night Village bar and talking to two of the regular customers. One of them was German and I started to talk to her about movies...old movies...movies with German stars. One of the names I pulled out of my...head really got her going; she got a little teary-eyed, said it reminded her of home. By the time she left the bar for the night, she was really thanking me for bringing up this actress' name. So I went on YouTube just now to see if there were any videos of one of my favorite actresses and I found these two. Would you folks take about six or seven minutes of your time to remember this heartbreaking actress? One of the prettiest girls who grew into a dazzling woman, she is no longer with us. And checking out these two videos just about broke my heart this afternoon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQlwU38YBFA&feature=related And 'Rome' around in there. You might see other things you'd like. I do hope you enjoy it. Hell...I know you'll let me know if you don't.
  11. JACK: "When I was a kid, my dad got me a book called "Who Is That?" which was chock full of pictures of famous character actors, fussbudgets, and cherubs." I remember that book. As far as I can tell on the cover, you have: Bobs Watson, Jane Darwell, Willie Best, Gail Patrick and Franklin Pangborn(the king of the Fussbudgets)...but I don't recognize the blonde. Anyone??
  12. I agree about the walk. But I think Denzel Washington has the second sexiest walk in show business and the close-up shot of him in "Philadelphia" when he was in the library was a Cary Grant movie star close-up shot. But back to Mitchum...
  13. Lafitte: "Nice way of putting it. I can say that even though Laura Hope Crews in unknown to me; no matter, I trust you, I'm sure she is a prime example." After seeing the picture of her posted, do you recognize her now? (She was in "Gone with the Wind" and "Camille"). Pssst! Jack. Getting dubbed a knight looks like it plays havoc on the knees. And folks don't worry...I would not think of boring you with the intimate details of my fantasies of Samuel S. Hinds. You can all breathe a collective sigh!!!
  14. Awww don't beat yourself up MissG. At least you paid kudoes to the great Menjou. I enjoyed him in "The Hucksters" as well. Urbane, debonaire and that mustache. Testifying...not so good, but a fine actor. (Missed "StageDoor" this morning, but it is also one of my favorite films: Eve, Lucy, Ginger, Kate, Gail...all having nice careers in their own right. Great film).
  15. I have a brief ramble on Katharine Hepburn. Right now, TCM is showing her landmark interview on the Dick Cavett Show. I know many can't stand her, but I for one are not one of those. She is real, and fascinating, forthright and as she said, lived her life as a man. She should have been the first woman president. A wonderful interview.
  16. Handsome, stable, reliable, dependable. Great speaking voice, Always gave me the impression of stability and believability. I'll save my erotic fantasies of Hinds for a PM.
  17. The tall, sexy and competent Sigourney Weaver worked in "Witness" with the tall, sexy (and then full head of hair) actor, WILLIAM HURT.
  18. Ben's a good host. Tell me about your post script, "Oooh I had a little guinea pig..."
  19. Dead on SCSU!!! Dead friggin' on!!! I can't wait for the satirical barbs. Are they serious?
  20. Was this held in Norfolk, Virginia? I didn't quite get where this festival took place. I know I'm sorry I missed it. Sounds like it was a blast.
  21. Jack, can you or someone else tell me what's the difference between a squirrely cherub and a fussbudget??? He's not a fussbudget or a squirrely cherub, but I am absolutely over the moon over character actor: Samuel S. Hinds.
  22. Why a Duck: ?...but then there would be nothing in General Discussion. What is General Discussion ? We aren't discussing Generals.? What a wild and woolly and wacky movie-savvy post. Reading this thread helped me realize not to contribute to the madness. I want my words to mean something...and not be diluted answering innocuous little threads. Sad. This thread has crystallized things for me. I still love the board and love watching the Turner Classic Movie channel. Message was edited by CineMaven--now...can we talk about General Dwight D. Eisenhower??
  23. Hi Raining Violets...I agree with you about Palin and Welch. I also think that Palin looks like Jayne Mansfield's daughter (from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit") Mariska Hargitay. She's a ****, but I wouldn't vote for her. SCSU...that was a good comparison of Logan and the beautiful Rhonda Fleming. I was especially happy to see the picture you chose of Fleming; from one of my favorite color noir films: "Slightly Scarlet" with that other redhead, Arlene Dahl.
  24. NIKKYMO: "I love Ginger's speaking voice! I would've loved for her to have done the voice for a Disney character!" I agree wholeheartedly. She had a great voice. Love listening to her in "STAGE DOOR." Good call Nikky.
  25. "So am I the only one who thinks the forum looks much better without BOLD thread titles?" :-) I think the forum looks much better without BOLD thread titles. But F.F., maybe you let sleeping dogs lie before the bold and the beautiful starts again. I'm just sayin'...
