Lovely photo of Sophia, Miss Goddess. I can only hope and pray that Frank takes heed. Folks, any other suggestions for Sophia films for Frank?

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE PICK FRANK GRIMES' FIRST SOPHIA LOREN MOVIE TO VIEW??? MINYA: "If you woke up one morning next to Anna Magnani, would you consider yourself lucky? Or would you be hoping it was Sophia Loren?" THE TORTURED FRANK GRIMES: "Claudia Cardinale! I haven't seen a single Anna or Sophia film. I really don't know Anna at all. I have not been lying about my newness to classic film." ME: I can't take it. I can't stands no more!!! It is the measure of a man who he wakes up in bed with becuz it'd be the girl he picks the night before (unless she has picked him). Perhaps the woman a man picks to go to bed with, depends on what kind of man he thinks he is in bed. Now I could see you not picking Anna Magnani becuz she looked like she'd be a real maneater. You'd have the time of your life...if you survived. Break out the Viagara. Claudia Cardinale??? Well there's a soft little kitten. No challenge at all. Doesn't speak well of you Frankie G. You're a smart guy...a knowledgeable guy...I think a romantic guy. You don't want a girl...you want a woman. (That'd be like picking cotton candy Bardot instead of a woman like Jeanne Moreau). This should lead to you SOPHIA LOREN. But I see you need help. And I'm here to help you. I'm putting an APB out there to all of those who have read FrankGrimes over the year, to suggest a Sophia Loren movie for him to watch. He needs to make an informed decision as to picking Sophia. Now really you don't need to see her films to pick her. Just look at any photo of her. If I would recommend a motion picture I would start you with "ARABESQUE." She's kind of funny and her beauty won't intimidate you. You have never seen a Sophia film? Frank. Frank... Message was edited by: CineMaven Pictures might be deleted. :-(

Is there a movie scene that is too painful to watch?

I wouldn't want to stick Scotty with a pin. I'd want to hug him up and kiss his cheeks. I certainly do remember Scotty in "Our Gang" with his apple jack hat and over sized holey sweater. The gawky teen years, I didn't like. But just before that in "My Reputation" I believe he plays Stanwyck's son. He, like Carl "Alfafa" Switzer, ended poorly. Couldn't keep it together. Wasted opportunity. Oh yes...Thelma & "Pick Up At South Street." Touching. -
Leslie Caron appeared in "The L Shaped Room" with BROCK PETERS. Message was edited by: CineMaven--I REFUSE TO NAME GENE KELLY. TOO E-Z!

All About Eve...who else could have played Eve Harrington??

Dude, how did you do that chart so that it shows up on the Board? Amazing. -
I Don't Know What It Is, But There's "Something" About Jane Greer...

Hi Molo, Lafitte...that entrance of hers with the sundress almost diaphonous as she slightly swayed out of the sunlight...into the cantina...into the darkness...out of the past. I haven't forgotten my initial reason for this thread. And I'll get back to you....back to Jane. -

Triple HHH...I'm thinking of the 1960's "Mondo Cane." But, ugh. Ya could've spared us. Mr.666...Ronnie Reagan screaming "Where's the rest of me?" was very chilling to watch. But you know what brings tears to my eyes? When Parris comes home from Vienna and greets Drake in bed. The love between them was palpable, touching. Too bad men can't show that emotion for each other anymore in movies today. P.S. Have you ever seen a more beautiful child than Scotty Beckett?? -

Blonde showgirl in late night TCM montage?

Clivsoph: "For a blonde femme fatale, Irene Kane has a much more forbidding look than Lauren Bacall or her Hal Wallis/Paramount knock-off, Lizabeth Scott. They were mysterious, all right, but they were softies, less dangerous and less exciting compared to Kane, don?t you think?" Whoa WHOA WHOA!!! They were softies??? Dude, c'mon!!! What are you smoking??? -
WoW!! That's a pretty tall order when you write: "Barbara's aura was mesmerizing and she was SENSUAL to a degree that, combined w/that aura that i don't feel Harlow or any of the other actresses had back then, no one could touch her..." I'll give ya this...Stanwyck had no equal in talent except for Bette Davis; a towering talent.

Billy Bob Thornton was in "TOMBSTONE" with VAL KILMER or KURT RUSSELL.
-
And MIA FARROW was in "ROSEMARY'S BABY" with JOHN CASSAVETES who was married to the beautiful GENA ROWLANDS. How d'ya like them apples?!"
-
Since I'm watching "King's Row" and the wonderfully fragile Betty Field, she reminds me of today's actress: Piper Perabo. Geez, I'm afraid the pictures will self-delete.

Movieluvr: "Quasimoto. I'd spend my days looking for a good back surgeon. And a good physical therapist. Build up my abs. Do a little facial reconstruction and start hitting the club scene. Some new duds couldn't hurt. Look for some new digs - awfully dismal place I live in. A touch of dental work maybe. Who knows, in time, I might become a formidable lounge lizard." What a makeover! D'ya have hopes of finally winning Esmeralda?

Hello there Miss G., re: "The Paradine Case" I understand your points: (1.) the beautiful but humorless Alida Valli (2.) easy breezy relationship between Coburn and Tetzel (3.) ehhhhh, Peck...you just weren't into him in that movie. But I hope one day you give it another chance. Valli was good as an uncompromising lethal lady whose powers extended beyond prison bars. It was good seeing Peck get knocked off his self-righteous pedestal and have him being twisted around in a really good courtroom drama with the Hitchcockian touch. ...One more chance??? Okay, back to discussing Dressler & Chaplin.

ChiO: "Ray Danton was married to the lovely Julie Adams, most memorable as the Gill Man's love interest in The Creature from the Black Lagoon." Well. Now, well...well...well. I did not know that. I always thought she was lovely. I always thought Tyrone Power had a difficult choice in "Mississippi Gambler" between Julie and Piper Laurie. Thanxx for the info! -
I'll go with Ray Liotta. Ray Liotta did "Unwlawful Entry" with the beautiful Madeleine Stowe.
-
Wow, I have never seen Deborah Kerr look more beautiful. Thank you!!
-
It absolutely reminded me of "Rebecca" and "Laura." The voyeuristic aspect of it sounds like something that might be explored in that fall movie class that ChiO will be doing in September. Hitchcock, the ultimate voyeur. Will you be joining that class Bronxgirl??? (How 'bout that Laughton picking his teeth at the end).

Jeffrey Hunter in "A Kiss Before Dying." Richard Burton or Eddie Fisher or Michael Wilding or Mike Todd?? Hey if only Liz had settled for one. Message was edited by: CineMaven...okay okay, CARY GRANT.
