Humphrey Bogart worked in "They Drive By Night" with: GALE PAGE. Sorry SCSU, but Triple HHH beat you out with an answer by a minute. Can you come up with someone else?

Judy writes: "Okay, I'm confused, but I'll play." Yes...it's confusing when people don't play by the rules. Russ Tamblyn worked in "The Long Ships" with: New Star: SIDNEY POITIER

MOLO writes: "Now, Cinny, are we gonna hafta insist that you take cut-and-paste lessons?" Nope, you don't. Just kidding Lafitte. I know you wrote the above. I have learned my lesson on that score. You might want to go back to the beginning of MildredPierceFan's thread to see all the permutations Gloria's thread has taken. But if you don't, just be brave young man and open up the Netflix envelope, settle down for the evening and watch "CROSSFIRE". After that, go back a few pages and read the rondelay a few of us had in discussing the movie. You might have something you want to add. I guess we're all pretty Gloria-fied. I, for one, like it and love seeing Gloria on top. I'm appreciating her more and more. In fact, I just saw her on an "Outer Limits" episode and...

Ford at Fox... and RKO, and MGM, and WB, and Columbia...

Your composition was wonderfully clever. Love that picture Miss G. (I'm lovin' seeing Woody Strode sit at that table too!) -
Robert Walker acted in "Since You Went Away" with the beautiful: MONTY WOOLEY.

Merle Oberon worked in "The Cowboy and the Lady" with: GARY COOPER.

Miss Goddess writes: "...Laird Cregar really had the kind of role that fit his somewhat disturbing persona to a 'T'." Poor Laird. All he wanted was the girl and the music. I felt quite disturbed when I saw Linda cuddling up to him in the carriage. Ooh...shiver me timbers! "The girlfriend of Cregar was played by an actress who looked very much like Claire Trevor. At first I thought it was her." I did a double-take myself when I saw this Faye Marlow (?) I thought it was Trevor too. "Linda looked ravishing and was very good as the scheming songbird." My my my Linda Darnell did look luscious. A shame how her career wound up. She was quite good in this. "I squealed with delight when I saw George Sanders, I didn't realize he was in the cast, too." I usually head for the hills when I see George Sanders, but he served the story well. Always loved listening to his voice, though. Might I add this: I missed the first twenty or so minutes. But as I was listening to the score I heard a refrain that sounded like something out of "VERTIGO." I kept saying to myself "This must be Bernard Hermann. I must check it out."[/b] Well I just checked it out on imdb and it was, indeed, Bernard Hermann. Message was edited by Cinemaven: Geez, I'm damned good!! ;-)

Violets, you are naming ALL the reasons to watch this movie. This part gave Bette something to put her teeth into: a psychotic, neurotic, dance, good time girl. Fun to watch her tear up the screen.

In the General Discussions forum, Triple H came up with the thread: Name A Celebrity...Name a Movie" where we would "...name a celebrity actor, writer, director, producer etc and the next person picks the 1st movie that comes to mind and names another celebrity..." My take here would be a little different and I hope you'll like to play. There were many stars in the old days who worked together over many many films. For example Cagney worked with Priscilla Lane in "Roaring Twenties." Priscilla Lane worked with Jeffrey Lynn in "FOUR DAUGHTERS." Jeffrey Lynn worked with Jeanne Crain in "A LETTER TO FOUR WIVES". Jeanne Crain worked with Gene Tierney in "LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN." Gene Tierney worked with.... Do you see what I mean? Are you following? Of course you are. YOU know movies!! Let me add this...NO MOVIE OR STAR MAY BE REPEATED[/u]!! So let me start. Hey, I'll start with Gene: Gene Tierney worked with Tyrone Power in "THE RAZOR'S EDGE." Now you: TYRONE POWER worked with...

At a certain point the thread was taking an extremely interesting turn. The celebrity that succeeded was in a movie with the celebrity that preceded. Hmmm...am I explaining that properly? I think I might start my own thread on that score. A sort of...six degrees of separation. But let me continue on this thread. Gene Kelly.... An American in Paris. Next star: ANNE SHIRLEY

"Hi CineMaven, In your last post to Laffite you attributed all of his quotes to me. Just wanted to let you know." :-) --------------NEW MESSAGE----------------- Oh my goodness!! That was a total error. My apologies to you both. Guess in my enthusiasm, I got lost in the world of cut, paste, and attribution. Sorry.

Kyle In Hollywood's CENSORED Poster Gallery
CineMaven replied to hlywdkjk's topic in Remembering Kyle in Hollywood
KYLE wrote: "And I have an "educational" series all my own planned for August." FRANK GRIMES replies: "Now that's a second August tease from you. Do the boys have to go to one class and the girls another in this "educational" series? Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz." CINEMAVEN chimes in: C'mon give up some more clues, Kyle. I failed miserably from being a participant in the Ford summer class. I need to redeem myself by getting a jumpstart (at least in viewing films) so I can join you boys....girls...whoever in the scintillating discourse. You are promising scintillation, aren't you? Message was edited by: CineMaven Can't wait to talk about the birds and the beezzzzzz! -
Tobitz, I hope you're able to get some noir in during your family's visit. (Wait until FrankGrimes finds time to respond. We'll ALL be blown out of the water). Now "The Bad and the Beautiful" isn't noir, but it will have a touch of Gloria playing a sexy Southern belle who gets what she wants out of husband Dick Powell. Poor sap...he didn't stand a chance. (Damn, I wonder what it would've looked like to have Gloria and Lana play a scene together. Hmm). Since you're in the midst of your family visit, here's what I used to do as a kid. I would turn the tv on, but turn the volume all the way down. I would turn the brightness of the television way down so it would look like the tv wasn't on. Then sneak up late and turn up both items slightly and watch a movie. It worked. ...Until my sister discovered I was doing this and ratted me out to our folks. UGH! Little sisters!!! Good luck tobitz.

Visualfeast since you wrote this...join us over on the Gloria Grahame thread: "I'll watch the same movies over and over again, with these actors: 1. Ella Raines 2. Gloria Grahame 3 Gail Russell 4. Claire Trevor 5. Claudette Colbert" Great posts everyone. I must think seriously about this for my picks.

I have heard of him...but sadly, I have never seen a Jacques Tati film. You have thoroughly whetted my appetite. My brain may need some reawakening.
