The First Film That Comes to Mind...

"ALL ABOUT EVE." Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride. new word: Screwball -
Aaaah yes...no doubt the dumbing down will come to pass, though I think sixty years from now "The Forty-Year Old Virgin" will be considered a classic. C'mon, you know you laughed at the waxing scene. Loved "Siskel & Ebert" in its original form. I say Fred C. Dobbs and Frank Grimes oughta give it a go.

Have we come to terms with this yet folks. 1950's "All About Eve" was perfect casting. -

Check out the Elvis Mitchell talks on TCM. Listen to the introduction. All the very soft voices you hear under the music come from: "IN A LONELY PLACE." Listen, carefully...you hear the masseuse...you hear Bogie. Go on listen. I'll post this in the Gloria Grahame thread. Oh boy Laurence Fishburne was pure delight. I had no idea he was soooooooooo knowledgeable about films and could do imitations too. I always thought he was the 'ABM' (Angry Black Man) but I see he could lighten up. Wonderful! Message was edited by: CineMaven--My thoughts on Fishburne. -

Okay. Well...propose it to Fred, before ****** tries and goes for the job.
-
You get the bonus of Gabby in the shot. You're right, Clint & Roy do look alike. P.S. And so does Huston.
-
OMG. Oy vey. Let's go with Fred C. Dobbs. Hey, we don't even know if Fred even wants the job.
-
Big Bopper has to go........I choose Fred C. Dobbs.

"I think the original choice, Jeanne Crain, might have been a good one. She was a better actress than ususally credited, as Pinky had just shown. Too bad (for her career) that she was always pregnant." I think you hit the nail on the head re: Jeanne's career. Seven kids. Whew!! Love her though. -

SUSAN CABOT: "In 1964, she gave birth to her son, Timothy, who suffered from dwarfism. He bludgeoned her to death while she slept with a weight-lifting bar in the bedroom of her Encino home. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter but cited years of mental and physical abuse by her as his defense. He received a three-year suspended sentence and was placed on probation for the crime." --imdb.com

I can't laugh too loud. I'm reading and typing this in SoHo's Apple Store (downtown Manhattan) and I should look like I want to buy something rather than obsessively checking into TCM in public. Your mixed up musings were a scream and mixing up your movie metaphors kept me on my toes following it. But say, where was Ida Lupino in all this??? ****!! :-) But you'd better take care of lzcutter's summer school class first. I can't write you a note for the teacher! ;-)

You have won my heart mentioning one of my all-time 1940's favorites...Oh I'm not talking about the usual suspects (Power, Coop, Grant etc.). They go without saying. But since you're talking about a star not mentioned yet...I'm meaning my "Home in Indiana" cutie pie. Nooooooooo not Jeanne Crain who is also one of my all-time 1940's favorite girls-next-door but LON McALLISTER.

I'll go with Nick Clooney as well. Perhaps the gentleman who used to do the intros and outros at AMC. His name escapes me.
-
I'm shocked Triple H. Don't you mean: - or ~ in keeping with your This or That m.o.?
-
Frank...what did you do to be tortured like this. 7,000-plus hits. WoW!
