Hamradio: "I leave simple posts and threads and really don't care one way or the other if they are replied to. I'm an ADULT so I won't cry over it." Guess that leave me out of the ADULT age group...because I WANT responses, and dialogue. Not wanting or needing a response sounds to me like just pontificating and hearing oneself talk. lzcutter: "We are a diverse community and some here are good cyber friends and good friends in real life. That is one of the amazing things about this message board- that a group of people from a variety of backgrounds can come together to discuss one of the things they love most, film." Cooom-bay-a!! You truly are the voice of reason. But ya gotta admit some folks are wacky or suffer from some type of OCD symptom. I don't think one person should monopolize the boards. Molo: "...I don't like seeing an individual poster singled out like this but that has been done and some feel that it had to be done. I don't think you are doing anything with a malicious intent..." I agree with you my double G buddy, no one should be singled out. But seems like some folks do things to warrant being singled out. And that's another story, indeed. Malicious, no. Annoying...whew!! Please tell me when Olivia & Joan will reunite and appear with Robert O. (Yeah that would warrant being bold). MetryRoad: "It may just be a fundamental misunderstanding of the difference between a ?Thread? and a ?Post?, combined with a mulish resistance to reason that sees any friendly suggestion as a direct threat or challenge." Resistance is futile. But resistance might show that negative attention is better than no attention at all, for some. Sad. Filmlover: "I agree with you about lzcutter's diplomatic ways. lzcutter and Kyle are the Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson of the TCM message board. I am afraid I am the John Adams of the board. If you're John Adams...I'm Herbert Hoover or Don Rickles. Message was edited by-CineMaven: **** Kyle??? I wouldn't think you'd have to pay for 'it.' ;-) -

Why not go on Wikipedia? Or ask your question on the two dueling Elvis Mitchell threads already on board. Jesus Christ! -
Good evening, Lively Gal -- Uh...I only said that to lure you out of the lair of Bronxgirl & MissGoddess. Now did you really think I wouldn't show? How could I have doubted you Frank? What a "Suzy Homemaker" Gloria does make. Wow! She's a lovely sex kitten. Another nice screencap from you Frank. I see why bulls charge at matadors waving red. Do you plan to write about "In A Lonely Place" as well??
-
Hi there Frank: "Now, now. Let's be fair. Who was the one who posted last on this thread before Tobitz's revival post? I didn't abandon Gloria. Don't you try and pin that rap on me." Uh...er...hmmm...that would be you: FrankGrimes Posts: 5,009 Registered: 5/23/07 Re: Gloria Grahame a complete package Posted: Jun 5, 2008 1:47 AM - in response to: mildredpiercefan? Reply Hi, MP Fan -- Welcome back to your wonderful thread. Uh...I only said that to lure you out of the lair of Bronxgirl & MissGoddess. I like your screen caps below from "The Bad & The Beautiful." She looks like Suzy Homemaker... until she give Powell those kisssses. And To You Tobitz:I'm sure my brother would really like to spend ninety minutes with Gloria Grahame, but I'm not sure how my sister-in-law might react if he did. To make matters worse, though both are in their sixties, they'd both rather watch the latest piece of fluff than a classic movie. They're into classic cars. Go figure. Okay. I don't want you to get in dutch with your family. But I look forward to your comments when the coast is clear.

CK: "Well I 1 for 1 don't crave attention, I jsut love to talk about film. Call it a hobby a passion or whatever." Hmmmmm...I think you doth protest too much. CK: "Well now I'm going through my so-called "EGO" around. I have more film knowlege than most of you have. I belong to SAG, acated in a few films, I use to write movie reviews & also volunteer every year at the Denver Film Festivale." Ummmmm...I don't think you have more film knowledge than Fred C. Dobbs. He's just kind of quiet and humble about it. Message was edited by CineMaven -- CK, actions speak louder than words. -
Family? I can't imagine a man not wanting to spend ninety minutes with Gloria Grahame.

Debro, Vivien Leigh suffered from a bipolar disorder. You can read about her at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivien_Leigh She was one of the greats and gave a shattering performance in "A Streetcar Named Desire."

Ha! I checked the link. Aaaaaah for the [/i]good ol' days.[/i] A little goes a long way for some posters. Sad, actually.

Can't wait. Well Molo, SCSU, Frank and tobitz...I guess we're all sisters under the mink. Next..."In a Lonely Place."

I just had to put this exchange here between Randy & I. See below: randyishere Posts: 474 "...You better go watch In A Lonely Place. Gloria really holds her own with Bogie and GG looks amazing!! Gloria is superb in noir." Re: 26 Letters - 26 A-Z favorite movies Posted: Jul 15, 2008 8:24 PM i If you don't mind Randy, I'm going to post your comment on the Gloria thread. I'm glad you appreciate her as well. Please weigh in with your thoughts on "In a Lonely Place." Would love to read 'em. Yes, Gloria is superb in noir.

All About Eve...who else could have played Eve Harrington??
CineMaven replied to Stephen444's topic in General Discussions
Dred...Dred. HOW can you say "dreadful"??? It was a great over-the-top scene chewered movie. And Jane Greer has a small featured role. Same lovely contralto voice. I dunno what it is, but there's something about Jane Greer... (Find out in the Your Favorites section of the TCM Message Board). -
I'm impressed...wait...did you imdb or Maltin this list???
-
Aaaaah...it's so good to see Gloria back on top. I am trying to get my thoughts together to talk about Jane Greer, but when I saw "...A Complete Package" up here, I raced my little butt on over. If you're planning to watch "In A Lonely Place" this week I will too and promise to write if you write. And if anyone else wants to share their thoughts on this great flick, please...I'd love to read 'em. (SCSU, what's your stand on Gloria Grahame?) Tobitz, you're kind of new...but that you like Grahame is putting you at the top of my list. And FrankGrimes, if you can stop flirting with Bronxgirl and Miss Goddess...come back over here where you belong. Lauding double G. (Pssst...re: the Film Class, I don't have the film "Iron Horse" or any Ford films. I may have to sit quietly in the back of the room and audit this session out. Geez, I so wanted to participate).

I Don't Know What It Is, But There's "Something" About Jane Greer...
CineMaven replied to CineMaven's topic in Your Favorites
Just so you'll know...my heart STILL belongs to Glorious Gloria Grahame but there's something about Jane Greer. Weigh in on her if you like...For me, ya see, I have seen ?Out of the Past? upteen times, most recently airing this past Saturday morning. But Saturday morning is not really the right time to watch noir (mood, neighborhood activity, laundry, cartoons, uh, I mean errands). So after a full day of hanging out, I came home, rewound my VHS tape, poured a glass of Jack & Coke, laid back and watched ?Out of the Past.? But this time my intent would be different. This time I was going to figure out why Jane Greer?s performance as Kathie Moffett has such an effect on me. I don?t know what it is... but there is something about Jane Greer that makes her the most femme fatale of all noir femme fatales. Yes of course, there were others more beautiful, more vicious, more deranged. The trifecta of love goddesses have been femme fatales in word, deed, or persuasion and whose looks were more jaw droppingly paralyzing to onlookers than Greer?s. If looking at Medusa turns one into stone, Ava-Rita-Lana?s looks could make your heart and common sense disintegrate and your body would implode into a heap of molten flesh. Davis, Stanwyck and Ann Savage were certainly more vicious in their stints as lethal ladies than Jane Greer in ?...Past.? Stanwyck would throw a scissor in your face or shoot you in the gut point blank after kissing you...Davis would pump bullets into your rotting corpse and Savage would wear a Mohair sweater in the Mojave Desert. Mary Astor (?The Maltese Falcon?) and Claire Trevor had more silky voluptuousness in their stints as lethal ladies than Jane Greer. In ?Murder, My Sweet? our boy tenor turned detective never stood a chance against the ?big-league blonde? and he was no Bogart or Mitchum. Gene Tierney robbed of an Academy Award for her portrayal of the sick and twisted Ellen Berent in ?Leave Her to Heaven? is far and away a more mentally deranged femme fatale than Greer. So what the heck is it about Jane Greer for me? Let's go to "Out of the Past." Uh-ohhhhhhh, looks like I already started... -
Au contraire mon frere. You've got to check out Eddie Cantor's eyes. Them's is some peepers!

ASK: "I took the initiative to report ck to tcm. He shouldn't last too long, unless tcm ignores what I sent them." Well, I hope you use the BOLD feature. Sorry CK. I think these folks are correct. Psst...Film_Fatale, you'll have to be a little careful as well). -
FRANK: Now where's that CineMaven "fussbudget" list. I know you've got some faves. How's the Big Apple treating you this summer?" Lafitte, MissGoddess...I am so sorry to have filched the name of PAUL LYNDE--H.F.I.C. (head-fussbudget-in-charge). I hadn't read the previous posts. I must confess, Frank I don't have a "fussbudget" list becuz I'm not drawn to those characters in films; Donald Meeks, the Franklin Pangborns etc.etc.etc. Lethal Ladies are more my speed. But I'll write down the name of one more fussbudget that you all may agree on. He was in "His Girl Friday" and I think a coupla "Little Rascals" episodes. The one...the only: BILLY GILBERT. double and triple takes and spewfing of breath. Gosh, he was a mess. The Big Apple: hot, but not a sauna. Gotta run. I gotta think about why Jane Greer is the femme fatale of alll femme fatales. ;-)

VISUALFEAST: No one could ever duplicate her enigmatic passionate passivity like Greer did. Uh-oh...you're setting the bar high with that phrase: "enigmatic passionate passivity." I hope when I write my musings on Greer, I can do her justice. Your post is so right on time! I wish I had known Greer was on "Murder, She Wrote." I would've loved to have seen it. (Didja catch her in the re-make of "Out of the Past" --"Against All Odds"?? She played the mother). -
