Your welcome, CineMaven. Although Stanwyck is my utmost favorite actress, I enjoy watching the sultry Scott and that voice gets me all the time. Mongo: ;-)

I Don't Know What It Is, But There's "Something" About Jane Greer...

SCSU: " I can't see the other photo, but Ms. Drew has a Gail Russell-ish smile going." I'm so sorry about the other photo. And you are so right about Gail Russell. I'm getting more and more impressed by you. Sheesh, Mother of Mercy...what's happening to me?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/35/DrewImage.jpg/220px-DrewImage.jpg> I posted this on the Evelyn Keyes, but just in case that was an inappropriate place to put it, I did it here. Hope you all can see the fotos. Don't mess with the Hoff!

Ronald Lewis and David Hasselhoff? I'm going to regret saying this, but SCSU, this look-a-like is inspired. I loved Lewis in "MR. SARDONICUS."

Gable and Taylor owned ranches, rode horses, shot game, camped out. Somehow, I don't see the Lady Viv roughing it, eating canned beans and doing what bears do in the woods. She lived the life she lived. Wish there was medication for her mental illness. She was an amazing actress. Poor soul.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Thelma. Please just be sure to address the right person when you make your responses. It looks as though you are talking to me as if I were the one who said that the ending of "Casablanca" is stupid. That is something that I would never say. P.S. Thank you so much Thelma, for clearing that up. If I'm gonna get flamed, it'll be for mentioning Jane Fonda's name; not for the great sacrifice-for-the-greater-good ending that "Casablanca" ended up with. Message was edited by: CineMaven

Hiya Frank: "I think Jack Lemmon is a "fussbudget" star. I believe this is why he's not always liked. He usually brings a natural, nervous energy to his performances. I really like that about him. He's rather unique." Good call re: Lemmon. D'ya know who I think fits in this category as well, PAUL LYNDE. Just check him out in "Send Me No Flowers" and to some extent: "Bye Bye Birdie." That dude is all over the place in his fussbudgetry. Message was edited by CineMaven -- P.S., how's your summer going?

Mongo, thank you for posting the "...Martha Ivers" pictures. It is truly a movie I've seen about twenty times. Stanwyck was great and Lizabeth Scott...makes my pulse race.

Johnbabe: "I detest the stupid ending of Casablanca!" Why did you think the ending of "Casablanca" was stupid? Hamradio, I thought "The End" was hilarious. Didn't Pat O'Brien and Myrna Loy play burt Reynolds' parents?? Zany movie.

All About Eve...who else could have played Eve Harrington??

Johnbabe: "Bette Davis is sooooooooooooooooo over-rated, anybody can play a B***H, all you have to do is look ugly and be mean! That's a very simplistic view of acting. But I'm sorry, you've studied with Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg, the Adlers? The Stanislavski Method, perhaps. In an interview, Bette Davis said she played more good and kind characters, than mean ones; but you can look at her filmography and see that. -
Aaaaah, what a versatile actor. He can be a kindly senior citizen ("The Bucket List" "Million Dollar Baby" "An Unfinished Life"). Or he can be a bad-a$$, mutha fluker ("Wanted" "Gone Baby Gone") and then positively terrifying: "Street Smart." I miss the bad-a$$ Morgan.

Lafitte, may I test out my high school French on you? "Je regret, je n'ai pas encore vu ce film. Dommage, car j'aime beaucoup la musique. Je ne connais pas trop Mlle Ronstadt. Mais son voix est tres bien. Et moi aussi, je voudrais voir danser Monsieur Kline and Mlle Lansbury, tres droll a voir, j'en suis sur. Voici votre lecon de Francais pour auj'hourd'hui. J'espere que tu t'amuses bien." I'm sorry, I haven't seen this movie yet. Too bad because I very much like the music. I don't know Miss Ronstadt. But her voice is very good. And me too I would like to watch the dance of Mr. Kline and Miss Lansbury. Very nice to see I'm sure. Here's your French less for today. I hope that you are very happy. How'd I do? -

So many great suggestions from all of you. I like the idea of the average viewer sitting down for a talk about movies. For my 2 cents, I would like to see more Private Screenings from the great celebrities we have left including actors, directors, cameramen, musicians. I would relish hearing from their own mouths their experiences in Hollywood. Just saw the Betty Hutton interview again. And it was mesmerizing. So let's start the new season with Robert Osborne flying out to Carmel on a nice sunny day and sitting on a cliff overlooking the Pacific and interviewing Ms. Doris Day in the privacy of her own home. Maybe we'll keep the dogs inside for this one. Hell, this is a free country ain't it? I can dream, can't I? -
I beg to differ with ya Randy. Now Jerry Colonna's eyes was a Top Twenty hit as well. ;-)

You're so right about Anne's voice. I was just watching "Out of the Past" this afternoon and when Mitchum meets Meta Carson (played by the voluptuous Rhonda Fleming) her voice was low and sultry. "You may have whiskey if you like." Hmmm...and let's not forget Margaret Lindsay's voice. -
I've never been a Van Heflin fan. My favorite movie is a tiny bit of a chore to get through, becuz I have to go through Van Heflin to get to Stanwyck, Kirk Douglas and Lizabeth Scott (in "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers.") It wasn't till I saw him with Stanwyck (again) in "East Side, West Side" that I appreciated him. Now I can breeze through "...Martha Ivers" for twenty-thirty more times...
