  1. My God the pix you posted of Maureen O'Hara are breathtaking. If there was any actress made for technicolor it was there flame-haired beauty. WoW!
  2. I pity the fool that gets between you two, Bronxgirl / FrankGrimes. I love the by-play; reminiscent of Bogey and Bacall; Alice & Ralph Kramden; Fibber McGee and Molly; Fred & Wilma Flinstone.
  3. This will be a tragedy if Ms. Day is not, at least, recognized by the Academy. Even if she does not show up...for them to not acknowledge her...geez, I dunno.
  4. Bronxgirl...It took all my strength and maturity not to lob back that straight line you wrote about Larry. Professor SCSU...I just read your profeeel and am impressed. I, too, would like to know what subject you teach. Showing the Three Stooges was kind of insulting IMO. SCSU, are you more like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrf9K6Dgizs Or like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQXNRZ6z6jo Do you know the Skipper and Maryann? ;-) Message was edited by: CineMaven I had to...I just had to.
  5. I'll take the beautiful, bejeweled Melina Mercouri.
  6. Quite right you are MissG. Eddie Fisher & Sybil Burton were the poor spouses during that film's production. I don't know if the movie bombed with poor box office back then; but more than likely, Elizabeth and Richard getting together made the movie successful with the public, Hamradio.
  7. I'm sorry... let me get this straight. SCSU has a job, a J-0-B??? Someone is paying him an actual salary?? Sheesh!
  8. Or Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton; or Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin, or Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner or...
  9. See...looks like Jim Carrey should've been in the "Bewitched" remake rather than Will Ferrell. Ouch!
  10. Hey Jake: "Yes, Zapps makes an awesome Barbecue chip I highly recommend... " WoW! So when can you ship a bag to NYC for me to conduct my own taste test? That UTZ brand would be tough to beat.
  11. "AGE OF CONSENT" with Helen Mirren and James Mason, perhaps??
  12. Whatever you say. You're in charge. (Psst! Can I cheat...uh, get a headstart, by you telling me what film will be discussed first?) Message was edited by: CineMaven Ugh! My apologies for the multiple posts. Geez. That's never happened to me before!
  13. You two have the same mental telepathy that young Charlie (Teresa Wright) and Uncle Charlie (Joseph Cotten) had in "Shadow of a Doubt." Whoa!
  14. I'll have what you're having. Whatever the majority wants. Can't I get a headstart on what film to to watch first?
  15. I'll have what you're having. Whatever the majority wants. Can't I cheat, uh...get a headstart on what film to to watch first?

  17. Thanxx for the DVD-VHS tip. Now before you shove FrankGrimes out of your boat...think about it. Would Tallulah Bankhead have thrown John Hodiak off, especially with William Bendix and Walter Slezak as alternatives???
  18. JAKE: Zaps from Louisiana. Sounds interesting. I think I'll pass on the crawdad-flavor. Do they make barbecue chips? LAFITTE: Fritos are a'ight. I'm not sure where UTZ potato chips come from, but they taste not from this earth, especially their barbecue chips. But they are not extraterrestrial. Raining Violets...do you know where UTZ hails from? As for the question at hand on this thread...I could watch "Vertigo" repeatedly, any number of schlocky sci-fi films from the 1950's, "The Letter" "Desert Fury" "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" and of course... glorious Gloria Grahame films. Let's start with "Crossfire."
  19. Have no fear Poinciana. If I can do this...you can too. Haven't heard from you in a while. :-) MissMusical, you are so right about York and Carrey. I'm watching it now. Yep! Those eyes.
  20. SCSU: "Good Lord, CineMaven has learned how to insert images. This is the end of civilization as we know it ... or at least this thread." Jumpin' Jehosafat!! I am a baby boomer. I am mature. I promise you good folks out there in Message Board land, I will NOT over-indulge and use my new-found knowledge for evil. Would that we could say the same for our illustrious post-mate who kills us with deadly poison-tipped puns, such as: "No, you're mistaken. Mae West had Asian blood in her, and was just featured in the series 'Asian Images on Film.' She starred in 'Kyoto Annie', 'I'm No Anglo', Go West Young Chan,' and the daring 'She Done Anna May Wong.'" ...And RainingViolets this is for you: Well...I've finished the Hitchcock marathon for this Fourth of July. Let me go to the sci fi channel and check out "The Twilight Zone" marathon. They shoot horses, don't they? Message was edited by: CineMaven Oops!
  21. Okay. Excuses...reasons...and technicalities accepted. (You're right, you hadn't promised). You're in the same boat as FrankGrimes...so many movies...so little time. Well just so you'll know I look forward to reading about "DESERT FURY" when you get the time. P.S. I need to turn my thousands of VHS tapes into DVDs if I want to preserve them. How are YOU doing that?
