  1. "Type on eggshells." Wonderfully put. I've seen a lot of yolks spilled on this message board.
  2. I'm surprised I haven't heard from my fellow Noo Yawkers. We had the Theatre 80 St. Marks (in the Village) and Carnegie Hall Cinema and the Thalia on West 96th Street were some of the places I got my 'old movies' education. Say, am I forgetting any others?
  3. Quite a dark beauty and a good foil opposite Bing and Bob.
  4. Dammit SCSU. You got me again. How'd you know? Okay, you're clairvoyant. You're right!!
  5. EUREKA!!! That was a great tribute by Robert Redford. I'm a big fan of hers and it's still such a shame she is gone. Damned shame.
  6. I don't know about Madge...but I LOVE Ramsay Ames.
  7. I always favored talking horses (Mr. Ed for instance). Don't worry...I'm not stalking you. Like your sense of humor.
  8. JAKE: Your choices are exquisite. I'm happy to see Inger Stevens recognized and remember. SCSU: "Ok: 1. Anne Francis 2. Kay Francis 3. Connie Francis." Why not Frances Farmer, Frances Dee and Frances Langford?? And yes...Shirley I jest! ;-)
  9. "where is this class suppose to be? i would very much like to attend. i love learning new things!......i hope our teacher is exciting, my economics teacher could put betty hutton to sleep. heehee!" Put Betty Hutton to sleep...I laughed out loud and I'm sitting inmy local bar with my laptop. Looking at the class of Peyton Place below, it looks like this is before Brown v Board of Education. Hopefully we've all progressed and everyone is welcome. CUTTER: thanxx for the location of the class. I look forward to it. Oh and for a good time call 212-DOUBLE-G. Gloria knows what to do.
  10. SCSU: "My three are: 1. Minerva Urecal 2. Margaret Hamilton 3. Edna May Oliver." Geez!!! Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder, but you're blind as a BAT!!! Surely you're not putting Minerva Urecal above Marie Dressler???!!! I know...I know. Don't call me Shirley! ;-)
  11. Say, RedHook: "How about a blonde a brunette and a red head: Catherine Deneuve, Hedy Lamarr, Maureen O'Hara." Don'cha mean: Alice Faye, Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth?? Message was edited by: CineMaven...had to underscore them.
  12. See wha'cha started Milland? And all of the ladies on the list are so lovely to look at. Can't wait to see how this plays out. Raining Violets wrote the answer I almost put: Hedy Lamarr Hedy Lamarr Hedy Lamarr. Does that count as three votes?? MOLO I LOVE your choices.
  13. This thread will be nothing but trouble, but I'll start with: (1). HEDY LAMARR (2). ELIZABETH TAYLOR (3). CATHERINE ZETA JONES Their beauty is astounding, mesmering, and otherworldly. A shout out honorable mention for FRANCES DEE and ZASU PITTS
  14. ChiO...you're subject line has me cracking up! So YOU'RE the clever boy I will be cheating off of. Good to know. Please make it obvious if the class does indeed proceed in June. I usually sleep in the back of the classroom.
  15. Well...you kids take care. Let me know what the assignments will be and where to answer them. And when.
  16. Hello ChiO...How's it going? "If you see any fast cool kids, please point them out for me. I wanna know what they look like." We won't see 'em. We'll read how smart, bright and literate they are; very few hee hee's, tee hee's, LOL's will be included in their analyses and they'll recognize the glory of Garbo AND Lamarr. Cooper & Grahame will be high on their list. Sooooooo, where do I sign up and who'll start the ball rolling?
  17. OKEY DOKEY! I'm in! Just tell me what I've got to do. Make it obvious. Don't let me go searching for the thread. Now when we're in the lunchroom...do I sit with the geeks & nerds or the fast cool kids? I gotta know how to dress for this thread. CineMaven.
  18. Frank:"What's up, Liveliest Gal in Town -- You're a big troublemaker, CineBabe. That's why I like you, girl. Thanks for the love, Love." You're welcome. The quickest way to this girl's heart is through your writing. ;-)
  19. Nice to see your name and question again light up the board Poinciana. Let me add this contribution: BARBARA BEL GEDDES in "I REMEMBER MAMA."
  20. Robson didn't look a day over 110 in "Four Daughters." How did she keep her girlish figure?
  21. Fred, the hottest cave lady on the tar pits 50,000 years ago was Wilma Flinstone and I don't think Tondelayo could compete with that. CineMaven no like Johnbabe. She think he crazy. Which man among you could stand up to the charms of Tondelayo? (Or Hedy Lamarr for that matter?) Would wilt like a little girl?
  22. I'll take "Firght Night 2" please. Just check out the way the lovely Julie Carmen, licks the blood off her fang slowly, with the tip of her tongue. Now THAT'S acting!
