  1. Let's let those kids fight about Garbo (who I love) while you and I talk about Ingrid Bergman. There were great beauties and other actresses who I really like; A-stars, B-stars...no matter. But there's something about Ingrid Bergman who breaks my heart. I can't stand to watch her tortured ("Notorious" "Gaslight") and I think she's incredibly sexy. She is truly one of my top two favorites. (Lovin' Isabella!)
  2. Sooooooooo, what do you really feel about Clooney?
  3. This is QUITE helpful Kim. Thank you for the information.
  4. I enjoyed here with Chaplin. And she has one of the great stage names of all time. But the star on the Walk of Fame...I don't see that being in the cards. Folks barely remember Chaplin. And he was a Master.
  5. I LOVE pictures of Gloria Grahame when her hair is full and shoulder-length AND she's NOT SMILING. I think she looks her sexiest then.
  6. "It's sad how there are so many underrated talents out there. Him, Steve Cochran, Scott Brady, John Ireland, Joel McCrea, Forrest Tucker, and Franchot Tone. (just to name a few)." I was never a fan of Robert Montgomery's but I respect he was a talent. He never appealed to me and I've only watched becuz of someone else in the cast (mostly Shearer). I wholeheartedly agree about those you mentioned above as just under the radar. What separates a Forrest Tucker from a John Wayne, a John Ireland from a Dana Andrews ;a Franchot Tone from any erudite, urbane player like Ray Milland. Is it looks, the way they part their hair. What? I couldn't really enjoy "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" because of him. Help me out. I've seen Elizabeth Montgomery's kids by Bill Asher. Hmmm...nothing to write home about, frankly. She was a real beauty and very likeable. Her loss still saddens me.
  7. "oh yes i agree. everytime i try to find pics of any red-head i always look for color ones first. they justify that bright red hair more so than with plain black and white! especially dealing with the flaming red-heads like greer, maureen and lucy and all the other techini-color beauties out there." Let's not leave out Susan Hayward and Rita Hayworth. Well well, Frank...it must do your heart good to see how much you're admired here on the Message Board. WoW!!
  8. Hey Frankie G: "You know, I've yet to watch The Bad and the Beautiful and it's a film I've been wanting to see. Your words push me closer to the brink. I need to put aside some time to check out Gloria's Oscar-winning performance." "The Bad & the Beautiful" is a great Hollywood-on-Hollywood film in it's totality. Don't expect too much from Double G in this film. I scratched my head as to why she won that Oscar...but grateful she did. She's always a delight to watch though.
  9. God I would LOVE to see that again. CineMaven.
  10. H3...name another movie with a shocking ending.
  11. Thelma Ritter, Eve Arden are masters...bar none as previously mentioned. May I add Joan Davis and Martha Raye to the list. I would also like to add today's Wanda Sykes to that time honored position of scene stealer.
  12. "I look forward to reading your always insightful and entertaining thoughts, CM." It's-a-coming. ;-)
  13. "Don Winslow..." LIONELL ATWILL or GEORGE ZUCCO?
  14. D'ya WANT your movie to make money?? Dee had a good comic timing and such a sweet disposition. I'm just not sold on Bobby Darin. As for him playing Rock's brother...the looks, man...the looks!!! I couldn't say anything mean in the other thread dedicated to Darin but I can be honest here. He didn't have the looks.
  15. D'ya think sometimes a no might mean yes?
  16. It's only human nature to want things to end up happily...hopefully; I don't know that Pollyanna would be the best way to describe wanting the best outcome. But after two hours of blood, guts and horror...the expectation of a good turn-out might be expecting too much. The ending was downbeat...and I loved it.
  17. Glad to see Double G's thread back on top. I've watched "The Cobweb" "Crossfire" "The Bad & The Beautiful" and now "A Woman's Secret." Wanna give my thoughts on TCM's showing of Gloria Grahame very soon. The opinions expressed by me do not represent any normal loving cinemabuff.
  18. Five minutes more. Just five minutes more!!! Holy Moly!!!
  19. "...And Jean Peters is extremely sexy." Holy Cow!!! What an understatement!! She's all that...and a bag o' chips. You gotta see her in "Blueprint for Murder." A different 1950's look, but hotcha just the same.
  20. Thank you for citing that site. I will go there and get my full of her. But can I ever get enough.
  21. Hey Kim...didn't mean to take your thread off into a tangent by exclusively bringing up Ella Raines in a western. I know this is a nursing thread and I am a fan of "Cry Havoc" and "So Proudly We Hail." Interesting what context we see women as a group bonding (the beauty salon?) where men have sports, wars and other activities to be men and bond. Women don't seem to have as many outlets as a group. But I love ELLA. Don't worry I'll go down to the Western Gallery threads and talk about 'TALL IN THE SADDLE."
