OMG! Preston Foster?? Funny! But who the heck was checking out McLeod when you could drool over Honey West? So Young. Soooooooooo baad!
-
"I bet you thought this thread was about you."
But you'd have been wrong Jake. The ninny is......is.... aww nuts!
-
Say, I respectfully submit...aren't Taureans 'bull' headed? Capricorns are level headed. Ask anyone. Go on...
-
"They" are right. Also...
Capricorns are the salt of the earth. But stay away from Leos and Scorpios.
BTW...who's the ninny? Hey, you have him/her on IGNORE. (S)he won't see it.
C'mon..you can tell us Prince.
-
I agree with you Lafitte...but as Madeleine's real persona (Judy) I still liked her and felt for her dilemma.
"WIll you love me if I let you..."
-
I'm ALSO a Capricorn...January 18th, 19__.
IGNORE...IGNORE!!
-
I can't read your question. I have you on IGNORE.
No seriously...I have used the IGNORE button. And no doubt, it's been used on me as well.

"Well, I suppose we can start an 'Evil Chester Morris' thread."
Okay...here goes: I thought Chester was pretty evil in "She Creature."
As for "Crime Doctor" I'm lovin' my girl Margaret Lindsay.

"PICK-UP ON SOUTH STREET" What a good tight little film. I loved the way he manhandled Jean Peters. Aaaah.
-
Cheaper by the Dozen. You've made a great point Jack.
-
You're soooooooooo right Violets. It was actually quite distracting and frightening...but dang...ya gotta love her. (Well some of us).
-
Alice Faye and Jeanne Crain makes me smile. So pretty...so likable.

Very cogent words McOtter.
-
Kim...won't you just give a wee shout-out to Bassett for this honor?
-
Prima...I haven't heard from you on the Boards in a month of Sundays. How's it going?
I'm a fan of Norma's and Joan's. But I agree that there was something more natural and playful about Norma in her roles, than Joan. Joanie was intense. Kind of actress-y. (And truth be told, Norma was as well). But I've seen Norma in some pre-code flicks with Robert Montgomery, and I swear I couldn't see the strings.
But maybe that's why I love Joan. I see the strings...and I don't mind. Do you think, PrimaDonna, that we are looking at Joan & Norma & Harding & Dunne & Hepburn et al with 21st century eyes... that acting styles changed? What are your thoughts on that.
When Norma told Gable: "...put 'em around me," I was hers for life.
At least for me, there's room for everybody that shone in Hollywood.

D'ya think they can perhaps title the Friday segment: UNDERGROUND CAMP CLASSICS?? This way folks have an idea of what they're getting?
-
Sounds good. Bad thing is I live here in NYC. Now my sister lives in Killeen...but she's not so much into classic films.
Where did she get her genes?
-
Bronxie...I didn't see "Torch Song." I just couldn't bear to see her so over-the-top; and not having a leading man I could drool over would really be too much.
But it does sound like it was a great hoot...for a viewer. I can't imagine what the experience on the set was for Joan.
-
Syrup...you must be a newbie here. And I don't know who the heck you are. I've never seen you in these here parts.
But you've won my heart ;-) mentioning "Choose Me." That was a GREAT movie. Loved Lesley Ann Warren AND Rae Dawn Chong in it. Loved the movie posters in her apartment. And I thought Carradine was very charming. He kisses a girl...he wants to marry her. And why not.
GREAT choice of Underground films! I must've have seen "Choose Me" six times when it was first released. (I'd like TCM to throw in "The Howling" while they're at it).

Hi Violets...still love Crawford better in "The Women" "Daisy Kenyon" and...of course, "Mildred Pierce." But I wholeheartedly agree with you that "Humoresque" (like Bette's "All About Eve") is the BEST Joan looked in her career. Loved her hair.
And Garfield looked like he cpuld really match her for intensity.

I'll bite:
Myrna Loy..............&.........George Clooney
Alice Faye..............&.........George Clooney
Paulette Goddard..&.........George Clooney
Irene Dunne............&........George Clooney
Bette Davis .........&...........River Phoenix
Lena Horne.........&...........Terence Howard

I love the Evil Joan Crawford all the more BECAUSE of Mommie Dearest.
-
Oh yeah... I remember that. I want to see Angela Bassett play a low down dirty murderous lethal lady. You know, the kind they don't make anymore. (Bette, Joan, Susan...you know the type...)
C'mon Hollywood. Giver her a chance!!! A role she can sink her teeth in. And I don't mean that crappy vampire movie she did with Eddie ('Donkey') Murphy.

What A Foursome This Would Have Been!

Sarah...don't die over THAT foursome. (Don't think Darin & Dee were strong enough). You want a foursome to die over: See "Libeled Lady" with William Powell...Myrna Loy...Spencer Tracy and HARLOW. Now that's a foursome.
P.S. With Day & Hudson...I think I'd put Paula Prentiss in there. She was a gorgeous statuesque brunette and had wonderful comedic timing. I need time to think of a fourth.
