Oh brother!
I shudder at the thought of seeing Cagney in tights.
-
Rainingviolets...that's a great idea.
SCSU....HA! LOL Exposed, yet again, ey?
-
Well of course it goes without saying who was prettier.
And by the way, Linda Darnell looked good too. ;-)

Shooby, **** doo... ;-)

"...If you saw last night's Oscars, you probably saw how rotten to the core--and just plain mean--the two male actors were who copped Best Actor for THERE WILL BE BLOOD (Daniel Day Lewis) and Xavier Bardem..."
What a pickle I got myself into. I was trying to gently correct you (and rib you) for writing Xavier instead of Javier Bardem and here I am being accused of being a fan of Cugat & Charo.
Yeah...I liked 'em.

Now that I have your attention, guess what's airing at 10:00am Friday morning???

Not as somber, but makes me think of the original. Thank you very much for sharing that!!
Love the guitar.

As I was riding home on the good ol' NYC subway the other night (IRT #6 train for those who know our MTA system), a man was talking to a woman about talking to his students about MUSIC:
MAN: "I have about fourteen hundred forty-fives at home."
STUDENT: "Why do you have so many guns?"
I laughed from across the aisle and said to the man, "I guess they wouldn't know anything about 78's." He laughed.
Mancini...when movie music was movie music. The category should be disbanded by the Academy Awards, or just not offered in a year where the music (frankly) blows. I did like this year's winning song though.

Ow!!!!

Gotcha.

Tekkie question Moira. How'd you create the link to the imdb page for "Outward Bound" when you wrote the word: here???

"But, most of all, I thought Ann Sheridan was just stunning. Natural, superbly realistic in her delivery, and beautiful to boot. Her clipped, rapid fire style was perfect for the part of Randy, maybe the only normal person in town, but from the wrong side of the tracks, literally. She was subtle, throwing away lines that other actresses would have chewed the scenery with..."
Always love reading about a film buff's first "virginal" experience with a film I'm familiar with. It helps me relive it vicariously. "King's Row" is a great film. I'm partial to Robert Cummings' sweet sincerity in this flick. I think the movie was perfectly cast all around. Another thread talked about movie villains and Charles Coburn certainly was a villainous S.O.B. I LOVE reading your comments on the great unsung Ann Sheridan, which I quote above (as is proper etiquette). Oh yeah, we know she's 'The Oomph Girl.' But I think she was much more than that and am puzzled and saddened that she's not remembered like Crawford, Hepburn, Davis & Stanwyck are. (Yeah...they got the really great parts and that's the key to cinematic immortality...really great parts or really BAD parts, hence: "What a dump!").
I'm glad you enjoyed such a great movie. (Have you ever seen "The Letter"? It's on Friday morning at 10:00am.

"Experiment in Terror" will be screened on TCM in May. That film has one of the great theme songs!! Haunting and foreboding. (It has one of my fav'rite actresses too: Lee Remick).

"CHRISTOPHER STRONG"

Hey Mickeeeeeee...I haven't read the whole opus with Bio and the mistreatment. But boy, I've just been trying to watch my A$$ so I don't get picked on. I feel bad for him...I wish him well.
Cape of Good Hope, ey?? That's a pretty damned long line ya got thar!
-
Bio...didn't your Mom teach you not to take candy from strangers? ;-)
If I'm being honest you did post thread after thread ad infinitum (when many could be consolidated) and you did leave yourself open by revealing much too much personal information about yourself when most of us just talk about movies.
But I sincerely hope you DO NOT LEAVE THESE BOARDS. This is a great forum if you like classic movies. You seem very knowledgeable. Use the IGNORE BUTTON, don't be so revelatory, don't open any PMs from anyone you don't know (all suggested below to you) and continue to post your opinion.
I wish you well and hope you do not leave. There are cretins everywhere...we just don't have an easy "IGNORE" button to get rid of them in real life.
Stay!

Hi there...
I'm not sure what they considered inappropriate in "Prime Suspect" or the other "Prime Suspects" (seven in all, I believe). But it's a British tv-movie...and perhaps Europeans are not as priggish and puritanical as us Americans. I say, watch them and make up your own mind.
By the by...in May "Age of Consent" (1969) will be on TCM.
Are you in NYC? You ought to check out the NYTimes Center Stage series. She'll be interviewed on March 26th. Yeah, I know I wrote that already...but it's worth mentioning again.

Love your picture posts...love your words better, G-Man! :-)

Sssshhhh! How'd you score that?
Yep, there are many repeats (who cares?) but there are many movies I look forward to seeing like "Experiment in Terror" "Blacula" "Scream Blacula Scream" "Strangers When We Meet" (aaaah Kim!) Helen Mirren 40 years ago in "Age of Consent" Coop's Girl should be delirious at the May 7th-Gary Cooper Birthday line up, "On The Beach" for those who missed Fred C. Dobbs' suggestion the other nite, "The Great Lie" (and another good performance by Mary Astor, imho) Lana's bio, "The Hunger" (if Catherine Deneuve could bite you on the neck, wouldn't you just love it?), some early Robert Montgomery fare (never a big fan, but there might be a leading lady or two I'd love to see perform) and on May 31st: "SCREAMING MIMI". Why does THAT rate big fan fare? Well...it's no "La Dolce Vita" but it's got the larger than life: ANITA EKBERG. I think that says it all.
Well...see ya in May.

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!!
-
You're cute.
I remember reading Rita Hayworth saying men wanted to go to bed with Gilda, and then were disappointed when they woke up in bed with her. Guess there's some good in "bad" girls, and some bad in "good" girls. Now to talk about some bad boyzzzz.....
-
Well if you gotta go...what better way to go than being ****-coochied. (Though I think the proper word is ****-****ed). Hey and Abbe Lane was no slouch either!
And if there are any teeny boppers on board here, (first off go to bed!) and secondly, Charo is the pre-cursor to today's Shakira.

-
I see Randy. I see. Thanx. You've given me a bit of insight into the inner workings of how men think, and how they see good girls...and "bad" girls.
Lost consciousness? Whew! I'd better find my old copy of "Blood and Sand" and give Darnell another look-see. (I do already know she's already drop dead gorgeous). And if you do get a girl like Darnell in your personal life...STAY AWAKE!

Blurry & chalky??? Eeeew!

Thumbs Up! He made tough films...didn't do the easy 'feel-good' fare. Love "Paths of Glory." Made us laugh at the ludicrousness of war in "Dr. Strangelove..."
Hey Mickeeteeze- that's caricature. There, I've saved you the trouble.
Poor Elisha Cook, Jr. How could he EVER think he could get a girl like Marie Windsor. Tsk! Tsk!
