"I would like to see these 2 movies, particularly the one with Xavier in it."
Whoa!!! Cugat's still making movies??!! Geez, I thought he passed away years ago.

HA!!!

He's back. SnorkyForever. ;-)

Nahhhhh. Humans aren't built like that. But what did Dusty Springfield sing? "Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'..."
-
Hiya Butter...
Yes, I'm a BIG Mirren fan from waaay back. Go on YouTube and see a couple of videos of hers. (Love "Prime Suspect"). Yes, she's older. All the better. Fine actress. Yep, I'm a fan. How u be?

"The Oscars are the awards created with the purpose of formalizing celebrity circle jerking, something more Americans care about than anything else..."
Oops! I had the wrong thread. I'm admitting I copied and pasted the above onto THIS thread. And I'm also sorry if the shoe that fits...is too tight. Guess this idiot will go the IGNORE route.
-
I'm sorry. Did I say you were being rewd, crewd and lewd?
Birdgirl...are you reading this?
-
Your Majesty...even better. LOL!!! I'm sooooo over these folks. Thanxx for the laff.
I see another chocolate chip cookies thread in the making.

Welcome aboard Birdgirl. Don't forget to use the "IGNORE MEMBER" button. Some of the posters on our illustrious board can be real M.F.-ers. This way if you encounter anyone being rude, crude or lewd...you can always ignore 'em and not be subjugated to their self-hating spewings masquerading as the disingenuous [/i]"in my humble opinion"[/i] line of poop.
Looking forward to your thoughts on classic motion pictures. :-)
Now as for Why "Psycho" gets an R rating? Pretty rough stuff seeing a woman hacked to death. (For 1960).

Hey Hywdjk...re: Jodie Foster: "I don't know. That one scared me. And I kinda wish she had been placed in a Rebecca recreation. The personal subtext would have been so appropriate."
Whaddya mean??
Also...I thought Charlize Theron as Grace Kelly in "Dial M for Murder" looks fantastic!!!
-
Waaaay to go SCSU.
Looks like you're busted, M.F.-er.
-
Will the 86hr. 37min. director's cut of "Cleopatra" be wide screen or not...
Oh I think I can stand to see 86 hours of the Elizabeth Taylor from the 60's. WoW! Gotta get my No-Doze on.
-
"Has Hollywood completely forgotten how to make intelligent well crafted movies that audiences want to see?"
Yes.
And Hlywdjk...the folks that put together these clips obviously doesn't know film history hence the unrecognized passing of Charles Lane.
-
DAN DAILEY????!!!! Okay. Who'd have thunk. Now, speaking of Albert Dekker...
-
I have a vague memory of seeing "Who Was That Lady?" on tv when I was a little girl. Joi & Nichols? What a sandwich.
-
Waldo I agree. I couldn't have explained it better to
MF-er. Here in NYC on CUNY-TV (channel 75) there will be two all-Black films: "KILLER DILLER" and "BROKEN STRINGS" will be on this morning 3:00am - 5:00am.
-
Oooh Honey West on tv. Anne Francis.
And the first three minutes of "Bye Bye Birdie" I fell head over heels for Ann-Margret, but I didn't quite know why.
-
Hi Cutter...I'm flattered you agree. Say, tell us your dreams, binoculars and periscopes choices.
-
Quite an oversight re: Brad Renfro and the great Whoopi Goldberg. I think the Academy might've been rushed. Or maybe he wasn't a big enough star for them, or maybe the folks that put together the show and the clips are not god film historians and can't see pass their own ****.
Kim...are you suggesting that young Renfro may not have been included in the Academy Awards' memoriam section becuz he did the wrong kind of heroin? (And the kind you used was better?) Geez, so it gets back to being about you...once again. Folks read below and let Kim's words speak for themselves in case I've misinterpreted them. I don't want to get in the middle of any East Coast/West Coast heroin war.
To paraphrase the Merm: "Anything you can snort, I can snort better. I can snort anything better than you."
R.I.P. Brad!

Periscopes: "DESTINATION TOKYO"
Binoculars: "REAR WINDOW"
Bad Dreams: "VERTIGO"
I don't know about anyone else...but I LOVED the film clips shown during the ceremonies. If only they hired RayGun to do their clips. They did such an EXCELLENT job with work they did for TCM. They made the old look new again.

You all have blown my mind with the names of Crowe, Bale, Cate, Kate, Audra (though she probably won't have a big film career, but she owns Broadway) Norton, Diane Lane, Charlize and McAvoy. Jolie's included when we're not distracted by her private life. I am also a big fan of Ashley Judd's.
Naomi Watts and Laura Linney I think are the best of the best. I am totally convinced every time I see them. Naomi blew me away in "Mulholland Drive" and "21 Grams" as was already noted. I must add Benicio Del Toro as an amazing actor.
Prettiest: There are some stunning beauties in movies today Catherine Zeta Jones hands down. A direct descendant of Hedy Lamarr's beauty.
But looking at the Oscars the other nite, I've got to say the absolute prettiest girl in Hollywood (with the added beauty of being pregnant) bar none is JESSICA ALBA. Tell me who's prettier...go on...I dare ya.
HELEN MIRREN (sexy as all HELL) is the best of the best. (In fact in NYC on March 26th, she will be interviewed by the NY Times. I've got my ticket already! See TimesCenter Stage on-line).
Nice giving a shout-out to the newer folks, and nice seeing a different name creating a thread. One reason I ran here.

I enjoyed "No Country..." and "...Blood." I think (AGAIN) Hollywood went the sensationalized route. "No Country..." was more accessible; a relentless chase film. But I thought "...Blood" was the more thought-provoking film, mature, not easy answers. Smart to put Javier Bardem in the Best Supporting category to give him a chance for an Academy Award. I take nothing from him; I love him...I lust him.
But Daniel Day Lewis I swear...

Saw it about five times in the theatres when it was released. Elizabeth Taylor & Susannah York. 'Nuff said.
What made you ask H3?
