Morning G-Man: "Yes, I am admitting the horrible truth: I still haven't watched In a Lonely Place. I ADORE Gloria Grahame and I'm also a fan of Bogie and Ray. In a Lonely Place is also the favorite noir of my favorite noirist, Eddie Muller. There are many, many reasons for me to watch the film, with my great fondness of Gloria being the biggest reason. I guess I've been distracted by the queen of hearts."
You probably have a life away from the boards and much on your plate. Just know that many of us look forward to reading your thoughts on films that we hold dear, since you write so well. Patience is a virtue.
Guess we'll have to be patient.

HollywoodKyle, I concur with you wholeheartedly. This Message Board is NOT a Personals column, though on-line acquaintainceships certainly have happened. You've expressed my thoughts very well.
(For me, one thing I do check is the number of responses to a particular thread. That tells me something).
Newbies feel welcomed...but read hlywdkjk's response in this thread to get an idea on how to have a great experience on the TCM Message Board.

Awright ladies...you read it below: RELAX!

I am also a Kim Novak fan. My favorite film of hers is "VERTIGO" of course.
Glad to see "Strangers When We Meet" is coming up. When she implores Kirk not to kiss her, but stands there to be kissed...ahh. She's the sexiest suburban housewife I've ever seen. "Picnic" "Boys NightOut" "Pal Joey" (poor Rita) and others...
She was voluptuous and had a gr-r-r-reat voice to whisper sweet nothings.
Happy B'day Kim Novak!

Thank you scsu. We can extoll the virtues of Chabrol, Truffaut, Almodovar, Wellman, Griffith...and then we can talk about Irvin Berwick (director of "...Piedras Blancas")
You're a good sport!! ;-)
Ho ho anyone????

I'd be glad to share, but first you must hey hey, ho ho... Read below you.
-
Hey hey, ho ho..."A TALE OF TWO CITIES" has to go.
Hey hey, ho ho..."CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN" should be the show!!

You register today...you post a bunch of threads today. And you wonder why you're not welcomed.
Hmmm...
That might be the problem with new members. Creating numerous threads instead of just perhaps responding to existing threads. Creating numerous threads every five minutes. I try to answer a thread that has an interesting topic, but I also notice how many responses a thread gets. When no one answers you...that's some kind of barometer.
Newbies...ALL are welcomed. But I feel there's a big BUT:
1. Dumping personal information on us and begging for friendship may not be the way to go on a Message Board where folks want to talk about Gable & Lombard & Loy & Sheridan & Fonda & Rita-Lana-Ava et al.
2. Self-aggrandizing plugging may not be the way to go to encourage dialogue when folks want to argue the merits of Sturgess over Ford or Hitchcock over Wyler or Stevens over Ed Wood.
I dunno folks...I've had a good experience here. I've been lambasted and I've been praised. If someone is too obnoxious, I put them on IGNORE. I try not to hog up or clog up the forums with thread after thread after thread every two minutes. I sarcastically tease but I am respectful to folks and hopefully encouraging.
I'm sorry your time on the Board hasn't been that good. :-(

"Yeah, TCM, we want the creatures and the scream queens and the whole shebang!!"
Let's leave the shebang out of it. (William Hung of "American Idol").
You rock Bronxgirl!!

"Any other takes on O'Toole and why he lost to Forrest Whitaker. Hell, James McAvoy had more screen time than Forrest. I don't get the academys refusal to give Oscar to Peter."
Newbie, my take is that Whitaker played the HELL out of the role of a demented dictator. It doesn't matter how much screen time young McAvoy had. Whitaker's performance was riveting and O'Toole played a doddering old man in love with a younger woman. He could've phone that in. No disrespect to O'Toole. It's common knowledge he is one of the greats.

Gluttony??? Smart girl, Bronxgirl. But don't let me stop you eating. Maybe Frank likes girls with healthy appetites. I'll let him speak for himself.
Why d'ya suppose Amy Irving didn't become an A-lister?

HORRORS OF THE PAST" Go on YouTube and check out that video. It shows clips from giant monsters from 1950's movies. It's great you ought to check it out. I, for one, miss "The Crawling Eye" "Tarantula" "The Giant Behemoth" "Weird Woman" Evelyn Ankers, Anne Gwynne, Acquanetta etc...
TCM, bring 'em back!

Never saw "Susan Slept Here" but riddle me this: is that bar-b-q chips or onion garlic chips with champagne??

Did the C word cost O'Toole the Oscar.
