  1. I won't make fun of you becuz you like b&w films, I won't make fun of you becuz you like disco music...but I will make fun of you if you're not realizing that Paul Newman starred in "The Young Philadelphians" and Hepburn, Grant & Stewart were in "The Philadelphia Story."

A lot of folks are complaining about TCM's Oscar fare but I say watch what you want to see and don't watch what you don't want to see. No use complaining... these movies are already programmed. I've been enjoying what I want to see.

    Welcome to the boards Trissy.

  2. I guess I'm thinking about him in "Camille." My God he was sooooo beautiful. But he is older in the 40's. Man, how did Stanwyck cope with the looks of Taylor.

Also, looking at Lancaster & Kate below I've never seen Kate look so ravishing... and ravished (and Burt's fingers through her hair is very sexy).

  3. JIM

"Nope. I only look like him. That Horatio guy is rich. Me, I'm just plain ordinary Jim Doherty."

    CASSANDRA

    "And the dinner jacket?"

    JIM

"A party at my boss' house. I banged up my leg on a couch. It hurts like the dickens but I can still help you with that piano."

    CASSANDRA

    "I'll take that help."

She gives him the once over as he drags the piano to the back of his truck. Though limping, his stride is long and assured. She imagines his muscles straining underneath his dinner jacket. His black tie lies loose around his thick neck.

    CASSANDRA

"Your accent, Jim. You're not from around here are you?"

With the piano in the truck, he helps her climb into the passenger seat.

    JIM

    "No...no I'm not."

Jim puts the truck in gear and slowly drives down the dirt road.

  4. Miss Betty:

CineMaven, don't deny yourself the pleasure of this lovely jem. Trust me, the costumes won't get you into trouble. Oleg Cassini only enhanced Miss Gene's beauty, if possible with his choice of wordrobe. And HUUUGEE thanks for the ''Shanghai Gesture''. Now if the wait won't kill me first.

Okay...you've won me over. I'll do "...Mrs. Muir." Now hurry and rent, Netflix or buy "Shanghai Gesture" and get a load of Victor Mature, Ona Munson and Walter Huston.

    Frank Grimes:

Ohh, for goodness sake. Do you think I like costume dramas? It's Gene! She's lovely in the film, too.

Hey Frank...you're right. Gene could be dressed in sack cloths. She'd be lovely.

    Now MY favorite romance movie is: V E R T I G O

  5. Cassandra is brought out of her reverie by a honking car horn. She turns around to see a handsome man lean out of his car window.

"Excuse me Miss. I've been trying to get your attention for the last half a mile. Could you use a hand with that piano. I have plenty of room in the back of my truck."

Cassandra realizes her thoughts of Horatio, her sister and that fateful night took her to another place. His smile, tan and toussled hair brings her back to reality.

"Oh...uh...actually I could use the help. I'm just another mile and a half off this road."

The man gets out of his truck and walks toward her...

    Now MY actress: LOMBARD

  7. "CARVE HER NAME WITH PRIDE (Virginia McKenna as famous WW2 intelligence operative)"

Funny to see her name. I just saw "Sliding Doors" starring Gwyneth Paltrow and there was a shot of an older woman playing one of the character's mother. It looked like Virginia McKenna. When I read the end credits, it was indeed...Virginia McKenna. She has aged...but it was recognizably her, and she was still beautiful.
