Bruce Lee, his son Brandon. Jon-Erik Hexum...shot in the head.
Sad...sad.

Yeah...Missy looking younger and sweeter than one remembers. WoW!!! Thanxxx.

It was a nasty habit that cost so many (Yul Brynner, Ann Sheridan among others) their lives. We can't look at this thing with twenty-first century eyes, but it did look so glamorous to see Loy & Powell with cigarettes and martinis. Sad. At least we should learn from them.

I thank you so much Jack for the photos and recognizing those other two ladies. They were elegant and sometimes vituperative (mostly Gail). But you're so right...there was an air of intelligence in their appearances on screen. Think the suits of the day were threatened?? Seems that brunettes are smart that way. Thank you again...the photos are lovely!

Boy oh boy I'm not your official critic..That's no one's responsibility. I do have a life though, Magnavoice. But I hardly think it'd be of interest to my fellow posters. The only other thread I created was in reference to movies. To each his own. Please continue...we're all just names in cyberspace. You're giving us insight into who you are and how you came to love films.
Cinemaven...the angel on your other shoulder...

If you have information that can help the police resolve Heath Ledger's murder...by all means give them a call. Don't sit on evidence. That's not right.
You don't make me angry Magnavoice. I just thought these threads were to talk about movies, not autobiographies or self-aggrandizing spiels on getting a gig with TCM. Sorry if I was wrong. In fact, I remember some of those theatres you talk about here in NYC. Was the Trans-Lux on 85th & Madison Avenue?

Bringing up the lovely and unsung alto-voiced Margaret Lindsay again. If you want to see her check out "Please "Don't Eat the Daisies" where she has a small scene as a society hostess. Just saw her with Cagney in "Devil Dogs Of the Air and "G-Men" and "Frisco Kid" and I must say (again) there's something about her...

Hmmm...the lovely & exotic Margo (Clo Clo). HOW the heck did Eddie Albert ever get her? (Their son Edward looks just like her too).
I remember Jessica Tandy and that set of parents who lived in very very c-c-cold weather in "Best Friends."
-
Cute...she was something else in that movie, wasn't she? Are your sons grown up now...even without Helen?
-
Great twisted movie "The Hypnotic Eye with Jacques Bergerac. But not as twisted as this self-aggrandizing thread. I strayed into weird territory here posted by someone who could write this on a Heath Ledger thread:
".........New York Jan. 23 (AP) ........ Following the strange & sudden death of Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhall has gone into hiding & cannot be found. He was last seen carrying a duffle bag & sleeping bag & rumored to be headed for the mountains."
Stop the world, I want to get off. I think I shall.

I always thought Audra Lindley did a wonderful job in "Desert Hearts."
-
"Lesbians are more acceptable in mainstream movies than gay men in love."
Why do you suppose that is, Joe?

I've never seen it...but wasn't Helen Mirren enuf to keep you in your seat??
-
I hear ya MovieGal. Imagine what the press could've done with FDR and his polio. Gone are the days of the press giving people their dignity and privacy. Or are they just giving the public what it wants??
-
It might've put Joanie in a bad light...but it sure made us remember her.
(She will always be remembered in my mind for many of her great performances).
-
Could it have been the wonderful "BOUND" starring Gina Gershon, Jennifer Tilley and Joe Pantoliano?? Directed by the Wachowski Bros. with a love scene between a gangster's girl and a plumber that left the audience I saw it with silent and breathing heavy...

So THAT'S what that was. Alright then...no more drunk dialing and no more drunk postings.

A lot of folks were a bit zaftig back then. Now if you'd have said hair plugs I'd have said now you got something there!
-
Darn it...I'm a little late to the birds party. I see you folks have been in the thick of things. So let me just say, again...another wonderfully written analysis Frank: (Annie & Melanie).

Thank you! At least someone understands me. And the weather on Elba's not half bad, either.

I guess whether we came over on the Mayflower or slave ships...the Puritan ethic trickled down to some (even today) thinking that tastefully done nudity is obscene.
Give me Jaynie any day.

Oh yes...I definitely remember the hubbub and murmurs surrounding that film. I was only twelve but I heard some whispers. Wasn't there an "I Am Curious, Blue"??
