Napolean. (Does that count?)

Film Fatale... I hope Christian doesn't meet his father again in Heaven. I think THAT would be hell. Oy vey!

You can imdb her. She's been discussed on this Message Board, and boy, is she a honey...red hair or brown.
-
You're right Bronxie, there is something about those old stars...
-
You oughta catch the movie Fedya. You may not like it any better, but you'll be being fair in making a judgment. Besides, Venice looks gorgeous too.

Alone in a darkened living room with some Haagen-Dazs ice cream (rum raisin), no phone calls and just gaze and dream. That's how I flow with the Oscars. I love 'em. Haven't missed a one since I saw Julie Christie win for "Darling." I'm hoping she wins again. She did a grand job in "Away With Her."

Poor man. He just couldn't get out of his own way. Hope he has some peace now. He no longer has to compete with his father. What a waste.

"oooooh, Bronxie, no way---all I can do is give my impression of it after I see it and I doubt I'll be eloquent. I did like it alot when I saw it years ago so I'm looking forward to revisiting it...
C'mon Ms.G., give it a try. Many of us want to read your take on all aspects of "Desert Fury."
No pressure. We're waiting... ;-)

What'd I tell you??? Look at the headlines re: poor Heth Ledger. Mary Kate is under attack and the masseuse seeks a lawyer for help.
In the meantime, Heath Ledger's dad is coming to the States to take his son back to Australia.
-
Aaaaah MaryBeth Hughes. Hubba! Hubba!

I didn't find "Death in Venice" creepy. Dirk Bogarde did a great job and the boy was absolutely beautiful. Who could resist? Tastefully done classic.

I love watching the ceremonies of the Academy Awards. Don't always agree with their choices, but love the spectacle of it.
(My favorite was Deborah Kerr winning her honorary Oscar).
A wonderful tribute to a fine actress.

I guess it just shows to go ya that there are certain actors/actresses that just go against our grain for some reason that we may not even be able to fathom for ourselves; that we dislike them for some reason we can't explain in a rational way. Bette Davis for some, Jane Bryan and Glenn Close for others and Wendell Corey for me. I can't explain it...I just feel it.

Okay Hibi...another sweet girl next door, kicked to the curb. Oh well Janie. Some of us love ya!

Okay, just be careful and take care of yourself here.

"I'm new to these message boards, so, I need to have some 'comrade' come to give me a guide, so that I don't get jumped on."
It seems you've jumped right in the middle of a nasty fray here, but this isn't San Quentin, Sing Sing or Alcatraz. You need no "comrades to guide you." Just read these threads thoroughly, be careful who you ally yourself with and talk about your love of movies honestly and sincerely. No carping, no flaming, no insulting and you should find this a great place to discuss films: classic or new.
Welcome aboard Moviesarchivist. Good luck!

Yvonne de Carlo. That's not bad either. de Carlo made me think of Ava. Susan Kohner makes me think of Natalie. Oh lawdy...what am I doin'???

"Turn that wheel!!"
Your words are a wonderful read Bronxgirl (as usual). You've made me re-live the movie by reading your thoughts. I love seeing something through someone else's eyes who hasn't seen a particular film before. And you liked it...you really liked it. (Even better). Eddie and Johnny...willfully tomboyish & husky-voiced Lizabeth. And Astor, sublime. Thanxxx for answering me, Bronxie.
And now Ms.Goddess...it's your turn. I want to hear from you now. Yo Frank, are you out there. You're not off the hook either.

Preppie killer. Ooh wow! In that photo below, Plummer makes me think of Olivier. And no disrespect to Natalie Wood, but Catherine Zeta-Jones looks like Natalie ramped up 1000% percent.
I enjoyed her in "Brainstorm" her last film. Sweet sweet actress.
-
"F-Troop" Storch??? Whoa.
-
I confess...I am a Natalie Wood fan.
It hurt my heart to have heard of her death those many years ago. My eleventh grade English teacher let my friend and I cut her class (last period of the day) so we could go see "Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice." She had such warm sloft brown eyes. (And loved her hysteria in "Splendor in the Grass"). I've enjoyed her immensely throughout her career and miss her presence is movies today.
-
Bronxie, would you be able to get back to us with your opinion of "Desert Fury" once you've checked it out? I already know you're ga-ga about Burt, (he's yummy) but let us know your thoughts on Lizabeth, Astor and the others as well. Wouldja, huh...wouldja, wouldja??

Violets...the movie you're referring to starring Capucine, Barbara Stanwyck, Jane Fonda and Anne Baxter (oh yeah...Laurence Harvey) is "Walk On the Wild Side" in glorious black and white. Not a conventional beauty, I thought Capucine was sexy as all get out!
DSC...you're throwing in a lot of zingers. Aren'tcha scared of backlash, retribution and revenge? (There's another threesome fer ya). Giddeeup!!!

Once Alice Faye gave up those Harlow brows and grew them in...my gosh she's gorgeous. Wonderful color shot below, Mongo. How the heck did the bombastic Phil Harris ever get a honey like her???
I remember seeing her interviewed and asked what it was like to kiss Tyrone Power. She responded: "it was like dying and going to heaven." Hmmm.
And Edgecliff...you actuallyMET her? God you lucky dawg!!!!
Thanxx again Mongo!
