Dammit. I blew it!!!
-
Have no fear...TCM is here!!
-
As always, thank you ma'am. ;-)

Just to delve a little deeper John, why DO you prefer Babs to Bette? Does one have something the other one lacks? Scripts...leading men? Tawk 2 me. :-)
-
Well I have to chose between my left or right arm's artery to cut becuz I missed the first two-thirds of the movie. (The girls coming down the stairs is the major point). I did manage to catch Hedy and my god... my god !!!

I'm sorry to read you did not enjoy "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers." I thought it was among her best.
But it's great to see that you're willing to discover more about Stanwyck by checking out her films. I think she was fearless in her choices of films as her career progressed.
I'm always torn between Bette Davis and Stanwyck. (Ask your Mom who SHE preferred). Henry Fonda worked with both. "Jezebel" "The Lady Eve." I would have LOVED to have a conversation with him about his experience with both divas. I'd love to be a fly on the locker room door when he talked about those gals. Stanwyck is just great. I envy your discovery of her.

She might not be considered a great actress (I just wanted to beat the snipers to the punch), but I thought she did a fine job in her movies and looked absolutely GORGEOUS.
I'm a big fan as well!!

Darnell doesn't too much for me as a blonde. I want to get lost and drown in her dark beauty as a brunette. But it's cool. To each his (her) own.
Darnell rocks!!

See...THAT could've been cleared up with an attribution.
-
Robert Taylor. (Is there any OTHER choice?)
And Kathy...have you ever been to NYC's Coney Island and ridden the Cyclone? Oldest wooden roller coaster in the world. A 'wild' ride.
Now back to the game:
Jean-Paul Belmondo or Alain Delon.
Catherine Deneuve or Jeanne Moreau.
Hey...let's not be xenophobic here.

Great film...and I'm not a big Glenn Ford fan. Vic Morrow, a thugh. Sidney Poitier, thoughtfull but no punk. Anne Francis, pretty. Margaret Hayes, voluptuous. The school teacher's record collection...heartbreaking.
Great film, Daddy-O.
Those kids look pretty tame compared to the thugs and hellions of today.

That sucks about the mis-print in the guide. I always wanted to order one, but your comment now gives me pause.
Sorry you missed "Gilda." Rita was certainly the Goddess.

* I watch...
* I collect...
* I love...TCM!
And even when a film comes on that I have (on VHS) I still like watching it on TCM.
Monday afternoon at 2:00PM, check out the romantic "Enchantment" the enchanting Teresa Wright. Great film...bring hankies.

Aw geeez, what a shame about Alice Ghostley. I was a fan of hers from her "Car 54" days. There was an episode where she talked about her idol...dream man...fantasy stud: Ramon Novarro.
Very funny lady, great delivery, sad loss. :-(

Lana. Even the name is glamorous. I saw a little of "Ziegfeld Girl" the other nite. She's sick in bed, and Jimmy Stewart is feeding her some soup. He goes in to kiss her and it was one of the sweetest realest kisses I've ever seen him do. Full on those pouty lips of hers. I think I prefer her younger, with the baby fat. When she got more glammed and sleeker, she doesn't quite work for me. Liked her in "The Bad and The Beautiful" and "The Postman..." but I must confess, I loved those brunettes: Ava & Yvonne comes to mind.

Thistledown...Gregory... what films were your lines from? I don't know them. Here's one I might've said before, but a good line is worth repeating:
"I can be very cruel. I have been taught, by masters."
DeHavilland in "The Heiress"

I guess R.I.P. to AMC is apropos. I used to love it and Bob Dorian. Thank God for TCM (and FMC).
-
John Ridgely...Louis Jean Heydt perhaps.
-
I'm starting to see a coupla new names on the threads. NEW members??? I'm beginning to have doubts.
I also don't see TCM changing its policy but with five-hundred channels on the airwaves, perhaps one of those can be dedicated to this idea.
If they do...I'll be on the lookout for the Queens of the tv-movies: Elizabeth Montgomery and Lindsay Wagner.

Thank you bigtalker.
Say Hibi, I didn't realize "Send Me No Flowers" was done by Jewison. THAT is one of my all-time favorite films and a perfect motion picture. It's too bad Normie doesn't feel proud of it. Hopefully Doris is.
We all can't be Hitchcock or Wyler or Stevens or Ford, OR Stanwyck, Davis or Olivier.
-
I'm not a big Robert Montgomery fan so I can't really speak to "Lady in the Lake' though I LOVE Audrey Totter. As for "Nora Prentiss" I really enjoyed it and Ann Sheridan. I wish I could watch its screening at noon but I'm being a tad unfaithful to TCM by going over to the Fox Movie Channel (FMC) to see the gorgeous and divine Tyrone Power in "This Above All" and "Mark of Zorro."
Check out "Nora Prentiss." Tape it. If you don't like it, you can always erase the tape. But NOT like Ann Sheridan? Hmmmm...not possible. :-)

Why is THIS old chestnut being resurrected after two months?

You tell 'em Babe!!!

Thanxxx. I guess it was my own fault for not getting their earlier. Gosh, I'll bet Tierney's going to look great to a hopefullly appreciative crowd.

For a man who acted so blase about his acting & being in the film business, he's one of the luckiest s.o.b.'s alive in terms of the leading ladies he got to work and kiss: Jean Simmons, Jane Greer, Deborah Kerr, Ava Gardner, Jane Russell, Marilyn, Loretta Young. Gosh!! Thanxx for the pictures.
