I showed my Texan seven year old great-nephew "ATTACK OF THE FIFTY-FOOT WOMAN" for the first-time.
He liked it. Now he may not be as discerning as your Mother...but he knows what he likes.
* When he saw the man from the satellite, he wondered if he was Warrior (becuz of his outfit).
* He likes black and white movies because color movies are so bright.
* When they were using the (rotary) phone to call for the sheriff my nephew asked if they were dialing 9-1-1.
* He didn't understand why the sheriff didn't use an AK-47 to shoot the 'giant.'
He didn't notice Allison Hayes.
He's seven.

Gawd help me...it's my guilty pleasure..the color...the schmaltz...the melodrama...Constance Ford's sexy repression...Richard Egan's big booming voice & handsome physique in his Izod Lacoste tight polo shirt...Dorothy McGuire's sincerity and moist eyes...Sandra Dee's pouty mouth....the soft focus ...the fabulous late 50's decor.....the over-ratedness of being "good"...the ocean's metaphoric crash-ing waves...the lovely lilting theme song...clueless, sanctimonious parents...crashing heavy-handed music...the dreaded unwanted pregnancy...scattered, half-baked teenage plans and...
no one but no one wears color better than Troy Donahue.

The pix of Elyse Knox and Lee Remick are lovely. Elyse Knox is the mother of Mark Harmon. I remember her being in one of the "Mummy..." movies.
The Gary Cooper puppet gives me the willies and creep me out...but for that matter, all "puppets" do. :-(

It was just on tv a coupla weeks ago. I watched fifteen minutes of it. I had to turn it. Ugh! I know it?s unfair to compare apples and oranges.
Yes, D.H. A couple of years ago TCM featured gay issues in film, airing among others, The Fox (Sandy Dennis and Anne Heywood)...also a similar issue with Women In Love, a fascinating movie by Ken Russell, involving the Alan Bates and Oliver Reed characters.
I?m old enough to have seen both of those movies when they were released. I also saw "The Virgin and the Gypsy? which stood me in good stead a few short years after its release. I was on a plane with Sidney Poitier and his new family with his second wife. When the plane landed I made a bee-line to him and got his autograph in a film book I had taken with me on my trip to the Bahamas. While everyone was crowding around him, his wife was kind of off to the side with the kids. I went over to her and told her I enjoyed her in the movie ?The Virgin and The Gypsy? and would she autograph my book. I could see she was happy that someone remembered her because not only was she Mrs. Sidney Poitier she was also, Joanna Shimkus, and I got her autograph as well.
Action Jaxxxxon, how the heck are ya?: I just watched "The Heiress" again, and tried to look at it solely from Dr. Sloper's viewpoint. A wealth of underacting is going on in Richardson's per-formance. He is never still, and there is so much sadness and confusion in his actions that I never noticed. I only noticed the coldness and the little slaps he seems to give to Catherine, trying to make her over in her mother's image.
How did you do that? HOW did you do that? You just created a second movie out of a movie I?ve seen many number of times, by your singling out the performance of Ralph Richardson. Your poignant description of his performance is so compassionate you have won me over to watching the movie from his point of view next time. When it was on recently, I couldn?t bare to watch it since DeHavilland?s performance hurts my heart. Now you?ve given me another reason to watch it. It'll seem like a different movie to me.
You?re making me appreciate Sir Ralph Richardson more and more with your wonderful writing.
I know you and some others are Pappy?s Girls...but I?ll take Willie Wyler any day. He truly is a master and the one I'd like to most emulate in my forays into directing.
...And as for ?WOMEN IN LOVE? the wrestling match is the main reason to watch this movie.

No doubt Freddie, was a veddy veddy cutie pie. But still, my two all-time favorites are young Gene Reynolds, and Scotty Beckett (especially in his Little Rascals days.

I, for one, will be a very happy camper tonite, when TCM airs "WARLOCK." It's one of my favorite westerns. Hope you all watch it as well.

One of my favorite brunette Blondes is being featured tonite on TCM. And that is the wonderful DOROTHY MALONE.
One of my absolute favorite westerns airs tonite: "WARLOCK." It may not have all the mise-en-scene of a John Ford western...but, it's got Dorothy Malone. I haven't seen it in ages, so this is a treat for me. Watch it tonite if you get a chance. You'll see Fonda & Quinn & Widmark.
