Little boy blue come blow your horn -- . : :

It's so unfair that Hollywood insisted it's female stars were flawless---but they had to play oppisite leading men, that were not only much older, but also homely-- case in point -Sabrina ~~ Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart--- this isn't the only time she was starred oppisite someone older - How about Audrey and Fred Astaire in Funny Face these men were old enough to be her Grandfather-- How About~~~ Leslie Caron and Fred Astaire in Daddy long Legs William Powell oppisite Hedy Lamarr in Crossroads It just wasn't fair --the women had to stay young and beautiful, but the homely leading men could play oppisite them, as if there were no age difference.

It just took me eleven minutes to get on this thread--now I can state my biggest complaint WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WORDS? the lettereng is so tiny, I have to wear my glasses to read the board--Is this someones idea of a joke? -
Magica DeSpell is my favorite cartoon character --I collect old comic books, and I have the first appearence of Magica--When she buys Uncle Scrooges number one dime for a dollar-- Scrooge realises he sold her the wrong dime and tries to get it back! I have every appearence of Magica and once they gave her , her own comic book--- what a surprise to find her on the Disney channell--now I record all her cartoons-- the reason I love Magica so much is, she's not really bad, just mis-understood!

MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED ---somethings shouldn't change---hand drawn animation is one of them~

I don't own a DVD player , I still have an old-fasfoned VCR... anyway -about !0 years ago there was a channell called Nostalgia [ Bet I'm the only one who remembers this] and every Sunday afternoon they would show "the Loretta Young Show", I watched this every week , with my mother who was born the same year as Miss Young--I recorded ten episodes, and a show called Mr. and Mrs. North which I also recorded--By the way the name of Miss Young's show was Letters To Loretta~~

I watched it again last night ---the scene where Weider says she has to wash her hands and instead-==Cries Please Mother don' divorce Daddy---is rediculous -I don;t know what they were thinking---about casting how about Renee Taylor as the Countess De Lave and Reese Witherspoon as Peggy Day-- and instead of Patricia Heaton how about Christine Baransky

Then you have never seen 'Cause for Alarm' -Ther is a scene at the beach wfere she is wearing a bathing suit--and she had gorgeous legs!

And my favorite part was when Crawford slaps Lucy Marlowe with all her might!
-
I remember one with Bradford Dillman --He was an artist in Boston--and he always wore gloves there were these beings who lived underground--and they were dragging beautiful woman to there subteranian lair to mate--and at the end someone pulls off his gloves and his father was a troll because he had troll hands!

By the way, Tamora, does anyone have the recipe for "Pancakes Barbara"?
-
I forgot to mention Linda's performance, as the sluttish Stella, in Fallen Angel I saw this on the Fox Movie Channell, and I wish I had recorded it.
-
I had TCM on, but I wasn't paying attention, when the film "Woman of Straw" came on all of a sudden it caught my attention, when I heard Sean Connery's voice, I soon became very involved with the plot and the prformance being given by the extraordinary Gina Lolobrigida--the film is styalistic and tense and holds your interest throughout I don't want to spoil the plot, suffice it to say Miss Lolobrigida gives the performance of her career and is met every step of the way by Sean Connery--One wonders why at Oscar time not a mention of Miss Lolobrigida's superb performance.

Miss Darnell is in two of my favorite films ; CENTENNIAL SUMMER; where they sing the song "All Through the Day" HANGOVER SQUARE; when Laird Cregar climbs up the bonfire! I wish TCM would show these -- [i know they are 20th fox films -but maybe someday]

The Misses Shearer and Weidler were being directed by the best woman's director ever George Cukor-- he directs every scene-- and tells the the actresses to give their lines more "punch" --He also directs Rosalind Russell to play her part over-the-top in her interpritation of Sylvia Fowler. : thistle

EXCUSE ME EVERY BODY --What happened to all the lovely pictures of Loretta Young in Ramona -- and don't tell me to press Photobucket -i did and nothing happens--- Is this another case of someone trying to improve a perfect thread?? Well, whoever is in charge please put things BACK THE WAY THEY WERE! ! !

The very last scene of Kings Row , the Korngold score is magnificent~
-
right at the very end of the movie , after Parris tells Drake about his legs, Cummings runs down the stairs and runs to meet Kaaren, there is a choir singing the theme so beautifully, my eyes filled with tears, this music is the most moving I have ever heard in a motion picture.~ MAGNIFICENT~
-
I couldn't agree with you more--I hate letterbox, two. they think when they show letterbox, there doing something magnificent- they rant on and on about the ethics of showing the "whole" movie, only because they are all rich people and forgot what it was like to watch on a normal size set. I tried to watch "Diary of Anne Frank" in letterbox and I noticed there was absoulutly nothing going on in the corners. down with letterbox!

I just had the pleasure of watching the best movie about friendship ever made Kings row is superb in every way~ 1] the acting --all first rate Robert Cummings- Ronald Reagan- Ann Sheridan and Betty Field--all give first rate performances.. 2] the direction - Sam Wood does an outstanding job [there is a love scene where Cummings and Field shut out all the lights, and the entire scene is lit by flashes of lightning] 3] the music by Eric Wolfgang Korngold is so moving it turns this movie into a masterpiece. I am so glad I recorded it. It also features an all star suporting cast including Claude Rains -Judith Anderson - Charles Coburn and Maria Ouspenskiea

I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now with June Havor and Mark Stevens or The Dolly Sisters with Betty Grable and June Havor~ -
your father looks like a cross between Errol Flynn and Robert Stack!

Yes, Roz Russell was underestimated, she stole the picture The Women with her brilliant over-the-top performance.--I don't know if anyone remembers a movie called 'Picnic' but Roz stole that film, too.
